Okay, That Whole Flacco Vs. Ben Thing Is Solved, But...

32 posts in this topic

Looks like that whole hysteria about "Flacco has never beaten Roethlisberger" is finally over. Not that it mattered, since those two don't play each other anyway.

BUT, can we please not act like 1(or 2 if you count Week) games mean Flacco has finally "figured it out?"

I mean, can we please see a string of good games put together? Flacco played great Week 1, but then was horrible against Tennessee. The entire offense was horrible against Jacksonville, too. Against Arizona, at home, AFTER they had already had their pride stomped on the week before... they laid an egg the first 3 quarters.

A sweep against the Steelers feels great. But this week the Ravens have to go to Seattle who has a pretty big home field advantage. I'd like to see the Ravens thoroughly dominate them and not have another let-down. The top seed in the AFC is the Ravens as long as they want it... so I'd really like to see them handle their business and perform every week!

There's also still two VERY important games against the Bengals where the offense can't be turning the ball over to that defense that traditionally gives Flacco problems.

Be happy, but let's not act like this team and offense is automatically fixed.

The truth is not about flacco figuring it out but cam figuring it out.

Picking up the tempo and being more aggresive with the passing games keeps joe from overthinking plays.

Like I said before its not all on Joe, the OL was playing poorly, and he had 1 healthy proven WR and 2 basically rookie but 2nd year TEs...so now they are growing, so there are growing pains

Flacco cant do it all, and too many times the run game get stuffed, and if Joe cant get some protection to throw the ball, routes dont develop, etc

....but this coming from edreedfromtheu is not surprising, haha

flacco won this one for us. like last week. like week one against the steelers. does that mean that we are automatically in the playoffs? no!!
we have two very important games against the bengals. they are very good right now with andy dalton at qb.

and we have to play against the browns twice. those aren the joke of the league anymore.

but if flacco continues to play like he did the last couple weeks we can all call him elite after the season. as well as all those haters will do!!!

Did he actually call an audible early in the game on a 3rd down conversion?! I didn't see it happen again for the rest of the game, but we want more of that. Joe needs to be allowed to run the offense according to what the opposing defense is showing. No more 'sticking with the play' even when Mr. Head-n-Shoulders comes raging up to the line of scrimmage right before the snap.

Let Joe be Cool !!!!

But..... Let's not lay an egg against what should be an easy win with the Seahawks.

Because our losses have come to teams that were what we thought they were (Bad Teams )

Flacco came through when he had too against the Steelers. He did a great job there on the final drive. Ill be honest I didnt think he would be able to go 92 yards with 1 timeout. If the Steelers couldnt stop the Ravens at home with 92 yards to go needing a TD they didnt deserve to win. Congrats on the win and hopefully there will be a 3rd meeting in the playoffs...

Im sure it had to feel great from a Ravens fans perspective seeing Smith make that play. It was now or never I felt for Joe Flacco on that series at the end. I said to myself either this guy is going to get over the hump here and win this game and sweep the Steelers, or he is going to screw up again and people are going to be saying same old Flacco. The Steelers defense on the last series was absolutely terrible in terms of their coverage and there are no excuses at all what so ever to give up a 92 yard drive at home with the game on the line...

Flacco needs to stop fumbling the ball that's for sure. Other then that, played very well last night.
[/quote]

Do you watch other teams? ALL QBs get stripped (see Brady). It was a great defensive play. Yes, we would all prefer it not happen with Flacco so often, but unless you keep the defense off the QB, it's going to happen. Sometimes there just isn't time to get the ball tucked away.

Are you mad? That final drive where he went no huddle in the shotgun on every play was another perfect example of Joe being 100% capable of leading the offense. Yeah there were a couple of drops that nearly cost us, that's a big part of why this offense has struggled this season, but Joe stood tall and delivered a couple of good throws to win the game. Heck, he even convinced Skip Bayless to give him credit for that performance.

The O-line has been sketchy, the receiving corps and the running game have been inconsistent, the playcalling has been pretty terrible at times but there was never a problem with Joe.

Man, that's pretty sad. Flacco will never do anything to please you... why even follow the team at all since you hate Flacco so much and can't give him any credit? He's not going anywhere... deal with it.

I think this whole naming QB's as "elite" is really overblown and ridiculous. It just seems like it has gotten out of control this season much more than other seasons.

Who cares if people list QB's as elite? Everyone's definition of elite is different. Does he win football games? Are win in the playoffs every year?

Joe is a damn fine QB and there are loads of teams who wish they had a QB like Joe Flacco.

No I don't watch any other games, duh. This is Flacco's 7th straight game with a fumble. I know it's going to happen to every QB, but 7 straight games...a bit much. Like I said other then that he was stellar last night.

Joe hasn't thrown a pic vs steelers this year I think. And only fumbled cuz he wasn't protected. He's damn good!

Even after that fumble... I was more mad at the defense than at flacco. Because like I've heard Ray Lewis said in so many interviews over the years. " whether the offense turns it over in bad field position or not it is the defenses job to stop that other team from putting 7 on the board "
So to see the defense give up 14 points in the 4th qtr when the time of possession wasn't that different heading into the 4th qtr. I felt like C'Mon man we need a key stop here.....

Plus I'm fiending for an Ed Reed pick 6.

I have been looking forward to the Bengals games. For some reason when we play the Steelers my stomach actually aches but when we play the Bengals or even the Brows i enjoy the games. The wife says i take the Steelers games to seriously but that cannot be right. :-)

Im hoping for a repeat of Jacksonville next week in Seattle but Im not holding my breath lol...Steelers can get back in this race next week by beating the Bengals on the road and getting the tiebraker on them and then get back to focusing solely on catching the Ravens which is what they are ultimately going to have to do to win this division...Congrats on the win and we will hope to see you in January...

It's gonna be tougher for y'all now, I think the Ravens may finish 12-4 or better and you guys are gonna have to beat us outright.

The Bengals are running into a meat grinder in their next few weeks. Steelers then Ravens.....Jesus.

Dalton is so [in trouble].

but it will be interesting to see them play a good team for a change. I don't consider the Bills that great.

Got a nice little day of football though. 1 PM steelers and Bengals then our Boys at 4 :)

Life's too short to nitpick.

End result of last night: the Ravens swept the Steelers; the Ravens have a winning record; the Ravens are in prime position to take the AFC North; the Ravens didn't lose after temporarily blowing a lead; the Ravens played well in primetime.

The players have already forgotten about Tennessee, Jacksonville, and the first half against Arizona, especially since these are teams that the Raven probably won't see in the playoffs. We should probably forget, too.
