Torrey's a beast and is on pace to get 8 TDs & 900+ yds recieving. I know the 900+ yds makes me sound like a complete Homer but i honestly could see him doing it. Especially since he shouldn't have anymore of those stinker games ( steelers Wk 1./ Titans Wk 2./Jets Wk 4.)

We don't run 3 receiver sets, so he didnt even really see the field in Week 1.

Julio Jones has been a bust so far. He just got his first TD.... I would compare him to A.J Green who is by far the best rookie WR. If smith could learn to catch the ball and use his hands, he would have about 10 TD's by now. Looks like Joe is putting the ball where it needs to be for the first time ever, and the recievers havent adjusted yet. Our recievers almost lost this game for us, Joe was on the money with most of his passes.

Just wanted to say as one of the biggest Flacco haters ever, Joe played on hello of a game. Starting to think its More Cam and Less Joe each week. Get that Bum Cam out of here and let joe shine.
What do u define as a bust? Because before Julio jones got injured he had more catches than roddy white.... He still isn't far from matching aj greens WR totals with 1 r 2 less games. His first Tds came last week sure but that's because they have tony Gonzalez turner etc that usually finish off the redzone

J.Jones 6 games 489 yds 2 Tds
AJ Green 8 games 599 yds 5 Tds.

I'm not sure u have seen either play yet? But I have they are both very impressive rookies. It's rare that a rookie WR let alone a top drafted rookie WR have early success. Or get near 1,000 yds

Torrey has been having a great rookie season for a WR. He has 20 rec for 397 yards and 4 TDs for a 19.8 YPC avg. He's on track for having an 800 yd season and 8 TDs. His play keeps getting better, so I wouldn't even be surprised to see 1000 yds. Obviously, thats unlikely. but with a couple big games, its certainly possible, and with the cake schedule the rest of the way, who knows? Still, despite what he could do, he's already far surpassed what people expected for the entire season. Certainly not a bust.

A players impact is not best determined by looking into his own stats, but also the stats of those around him. Just look at Boldin! Boldin currently has 41 rec for 621 yards and 2 TDs for a 15.3 YPC avg. He already has 74.9% of his yardage from last year (837) and 64% of his receptions from last year (64). He's already doing a ton better than last year. Boldin is on track for nearly 1300 yards. His TDs are down, but that can be attributed to an increase of TDs to other players around him and an improved run game.

Dickson has had 30 for 277 and 1 TD for a 9.1 YPC avg. Pitta has 21 for 195 and a 9.3 YPC avg. Our TE's leave something to be desired, but overall our offense is doing better than I thought, and alot of that can be attributed to Torrey Smith overachieving. Way to go kid!
I dont think the TEs were being utilized correctly at the beginning of season now we are seeing more double TE sets. And when u look at lack of production for injured Heap in Arizona. My only complaint for the TEs would be to become better redzone target as season continues..

I've said several times. I liked that we picked him with our 2nd round pick. Because I was completely against Mayock and others that mocked him to us in 1st round... So when we drafted the kid in round 2 I was happy. Although I wanted R. Cobb. I felt Smith was a good pick at that point... The way I was reading about him in camp practices. I was disappointed with his preseason drops.
Due to our lack of 3 WR sets he didn't have opportunities to make impacts in the first 2 games ( when lee evans actually played ).

It's just baffling how Torrey will make a difficult catch then drop one right between the numbers.... I'm glad Joe has continue to throw to him, give joe credit because in that Cardinal game after that int that bounce of Torrey's hands ( and the crowd started booing ) joe could have easily lost faith in the kid....

I can definitely agree with that. Our TEs need to be used differently, or at least consistently. We haven't run a TE screen in a while and those things were absolutely killer.

Torrey Smith has as many TD catches as OchoCinco, Braylon Edwards, Brandon Marshall, and Andre Johnson COMBINED!

If I told you that stat before the season you would laugh in my face

I think that is one of his best qualities, he could really are less what people around him say, he is going to go out and play his game.

I give him a B plus. As a rookie he is being asked to do a lot of stuff on a big stage. Besides, I think because Flacco has a cannon for an arm he surprises even veteran receivers like Boldin from time to time with the power of his throws. Remember Q dropped one on the ten yard line that hit his hands.

Let Torrey gel into the offense and he will be the next Moss like speedster in my opinion.

GO RAVENS!

Torrey has the highest percentage , easily , in the NFL for "deep targets" , i.e. being on the other end of pass attempts over 15 yds. WRs that are deep targets typically have lower completion percentages than those targeted more often at closer range. If he continues to be used this way , we're unlikely to ever see the 60% completion rate with him that Joe has historically achieved overall. Similarly , we'll likely continue to see a higher drop rate , though it should come down from where it is now. A 10-15% drop rate wouldn't be unreasonable for Torrey in his current role , less than 10% would be great.

I don't think that the dropped balls hurt him as much as the one dropped ball in the playoffs hurt Houshmanzadeh.

And they're getting closer and closer every game. Early in that Pitt Game Flacco throw two deep ones to Torrey, one was off his fingertips, and the other drew a P.I. call, but if Torrey would have drug his 2nd foot a little better he would have scored anyway. This kid is looking so dangerous.

Your right. I would've fell out of my chair laughing. The NFL is so unpredictable like that though. The only guy I am really disappointed about is Andre Johnson. Not only is he my favorite non-Raven player but I pumped up his stock so much this offseason. I thought he was finally going to break into double digit TDs.

Well Andre Johnson was still dominant while he was healthy. He had the Texan offense looking extremely dangerous.

When Torrey stops underestimating Flacco's arm and finishes on those deep patterns he's gonna look like our form of Desean Jackson lol. I'm really happy with this kid.
yeah this too, he actually admitted that was the reason he didnt get to joe's first touchdown throw against the Steelers..he saw Joe scramble for a second and stopped and then saw the Ball was going deep and couldnt recover in time

Torrey is great.. he's going to end up like (hate to say it) Mike Wallace once he gets his hands. He's got tiny hands supposedly, that's what is holding him back, so he's got to get some more reps so he can conform to those baby hands of his and make more catches. He's got great speed, and is a decent route runner.

I'd give him a solid B. Because where as he's dropped a lot, he's caught even more, and more important catches at that.

Torrey is a winner and I like the way he analyzes the game. He is going to get better by the end of the season.

He is a proven player in this league at this point. Now with Evans on board hopefully we can be a feared deep threat offense in this league if the options for both of this receivers can split the coverage down the field...

Hahaha it apears Julio jones has an injury problem. I wonder if Atlanta is mad that they didnt take Torrey at pick 27 instead of trading away the majority of their draft picks.
