Our Coach Lost The Game

37 posts in this topic

blaming our coach for something that he had absolutely no control over is completely irrational and irate, to the audience at home we had a nice enclosed view of the play in which in slow motion, we saw that Mason had indeed dragged both feet and was in-bounds, BUT to people actually out there and at a "sideline" type view of the play let alone having it happen about 30 or so yards away downfield, and with the play in the endzone, Harbaugh never did have a real decent view of the play, a few words one player(s) say isnt enough for someone to challenge a play and risk losing a timeout.

Harbaugh said in his interview that from where he was at and the level he was standing at, he saw the play happen in real-time which means that he only had the chance to see the play un-fold as it happened, the replay wasnt relayed to the coaches and staff on the sideline quick enough for them to view it, and throw the flag.....thats why Harbaugh never threw the challenge flag, he never got a proper view in time, it wasnt until a few plays later that Harbaugh had a chance to see the play and realize he should've thrown the red flag.

Look. John Harbaugh saved this team. Period. I loved Brian's tenacity, I loved his openness with the media, I even loved his smarmy comments come radio time. But what I didn't love was his arrogance, and his inability to GEL this team the way that he should've. John came in here and just cleaned up shop. He made EVERYONE in that locker room take responsibility for themselves and this team, and it *expletive* shows. I am LOVING our new Ravens, and so what if he 'blew' a challenge call? He couldn't see it, the booth didn't see it, and that often happens on road games. He learned from it and I guarantee the next road game we have he'll have SOMEONE watching the replays. I am so tired of the negativity. Every true Ravens fan, or the fans who fancy themselves true, should be thanking Harbaugh for wanting to play here, and being serious with whipping this team into shape. I'm very grateful he's here, and personally hope that everyone on the coaching staff stays a few years..because if this is our worst, I cannot freakin' WAIT to see our best.

derrick mason caught the ball in the endzone 2 feet in...he doesnt bother to challenge it...if he did we wouldve won
and he didnt even try to score before overtime
our team played well enough to win and he messed it up
and i cannot possibly be the only one who thinks this
I sorta agree with you, He defientley should have tossed the challenge flag. Whould it have been overturned? should have been but I doubt it, Manday night game in Pittsburgh and the refs would have been scared, not only that but they like Pittsburgh better. Why>? because Pittsburgh throws them some extra cash for "overlooking" some calls.
Plus you have to factor in this. If were up 24-20, Pittsburgh is in a situation where they HAVE to get a TD, what says they dont get it before the end of the game? One diffrent play during a game would change the entire game. You cant look at it a day later and say it could have been diffrent, UNLESS of course something like " IF" He caught it with 2 seconds left then we woulda won, that would be the only way of looking at it at that point of view.

Coach Hardball wasn't watching Tivo where you can rewind it as many times as you want, put it in slow-mo, and take all day to make a final decision. You're forgetting he is a rookie too! He fumbled the call like Flacco fumbled the ball. I just hope they will learn from their experience and won't make the same mistake twice. We shouldn't be blaming our coach when the full blame of a bad call once AGAIN falls on the refs who were ON THE SIDELINES! Hardball was way across the field while the ref was probably less than 10 feet away. It shouldn't be the job of our coach to correct the officials when it's their job to make fair and correct calls in front of their faces. This botched call in my opinion falls on the heads of the refs.

Truth is I was screaming at the TV for "Hardball" to throw the flag hoping he could hear me. I think you throw it in support that your player caught it. I'd loose a timeout for the sake of a TD. I trusted the fact that Mason made a good catch before I ever saw the replay but I probably would have waited to see if Mason felt he caught it in bounds. I also know how the refs treat us in Pittsburgh and this is John's first game as a head coach against them. He will soon learn to question and challenge every call they make against us (The refs even made a shady coin toss in overtime). The only question is they looked like they ran on the field and kicked a field goal awfully quick. Did they wait til the play clock was almost up to get word from the booth? It's easy for me to say I would have challenged the play cause the nation wasn't watching my every action and grading me based on the facts they had all day to get. There were no indications at that time it was a catch and if there were i feel he would have made the call (I think it's clear how bad Hardball wants this team to win games). I still fully support Harbaugh and think he is a great coach.

Especially in a loud road stadium. No replay in the booth, Derrick Mason not putting much of a fight. I don't blame Harbaugh one bit.

It's done and done. Let it be.
Anyone listen to the coach on the Radio tonite? I was pretty irritated until someone called in and asked him, apparently the replay was not set to the coaches in the booth nor was it shown on the big screen, so they were not sure. Rookie coach--rookie mistake--he needs some one in the locker room with a TV and rabbit ears.
really?
well in that case...i would have to put this one on the ref

Has Joe really demonstrated behavior that supports this premise? I understand it's generally true, but I've not seen something that makes me think, "hoard the timeouts".
