WR Mark Clayton Or QB Aaron Rodgers?

26 posts in this topic

Stupid thread, but do yous realise we picked Mark clayton in 2005 2 spots, 2 2 2 2 Spots ahead of Aaron Rodgers... Hes 19/22 3 tds 250 yards.. I think joe can get us to a superbowl or 2 with or D, But man what a miss. Im assuming he had so big question marks coming out of college especially when jason campbell and Alex Smith went before him?

I dont feel as bad as the 49ers do, passing Rodgers up to take Alex Smith 1st overall. Smith has been playing well this year, but Smith vs Rodgers is obviously no comparison. I'm just glad we have finally drafted a good WR in the early rounds with Torrey Smith!

You don't know what would've happened if we drafted Rodgers. First, he probably would've started as a rookie, and he would have no help at WR. His stats would be low for the first few years and we might have even looked at him as a bust. Rodgers didn't look great his first year as a starter, and that was his fourth year in the league studying behind Brett Favre. Put him in B-More and he probably would've been seen as a decent QB who gets carried by the defense. Not by now, of course, but at first.

Rodgers had years to sit and learn from Favre. If he came to the Ravens he would have to sit and learn from.....yuck
Favre didn't teach him nothing, or at least not directly. Whatever Rodgers learned he learned from watching and working heard.

Mike McCarthy should get a lot of credit for Rodgers.

Hes totally changed Rodgers throwing motion and release.

Yeah, he would have started his first year. I believe Boller was still the starter then, and would have played almost immediately, since Boller got injured in like the first game that season vs. the Colts. (Correct me if I'm wrong on that one) He would only have Heap and a disgruntled Jamal to help him on offense, with an aging, shaky line, except of course for JO. He would have gotten hit so much he would probably have become shell shocked and would have developed into a bust. Just like his predicessor golden bear, the formentioned Should Have Been a Boller. The reason he is such a great quarterback was he had a great qb coach and was able to develope and work on the flaws in his game so he was already adjusted to game speed before his first start.

His mobility in the pocket is insane and he has elite accuracy. What was so bad about this kid that so many teams passed him up?

Rodgers is the man, plain and simple. You could have all the recievers in the world but have a pedestrian Qb much like the Colts do this year, and your recievers look average at best because you can't get the ball to them. It works both ways.

To answer what the concerns were about Rodgers is this..... the NFL scouts said he didn't have a prototypical strong arm. However, he's changed his throwing motion and took those years behind Favre to bulk up, and now he has a gun for an arm, not to mention uncanny accuracy and great speed for a Qb. Dude is just an amazing hard worker.

people should be more upset that Roddy White fell pretty late. That's something reasonable to think about
What? This is all hypothetical, but there's no way I'm more upset that we passed on White than Rodgers.

Rodgers is the best Quaterback in the NFL and looks well on his way to a Hall of Fame career. Roddy White's an overrated receiver that has a lot of drops. I don't think much of White at all, he's playing second fiddle to Julio Jones now. He's also a cheat.

Yeah, agreed!! NO WAY "people should be more upset" because of not picking White over Rodgers! That's a laughable comparison.

Rodgers wouldn't be Rodgers if we was here, just like Brady wouldn't be Brady... a lot has to do with the system they're in and personnel. However, if I could re-draft, obviously I'd take A-Rod over Clayton 10/10 times.

you missed the point I was trying to make. The Ravens wanted a WR and they passed on Roddy.
