My Plan For The Colts And Peyton Manning

11 posts in this topic

i dont think anyone thought the colts would be THIS bad, but they are, they might be lucky to win 1 game. So the more i was thinking about their situation the more i thought my idea was the best. ive heard it another analysist mention it, but i didnt steal it fromt them. So heres my idea, pretty simple: say the colts get the 1st pick, obviously take Luck and......trade peyton manning (assuming hes ok to play). This way you start to rebuild and can add some other weapons, now i dont know what you could get for manning, i would think at least a first and a fourth but i dont know. This way the colts wouldnt have to pay him that massive contract, could afford to add in other players. I think its safe to say even if manning comes back next year, the colts wont win another SB with that team. Just a thought, this wasnt well thought out as you can see lol, rant over

They certainly need to do something. I think you are right when you say they won't win with that team, because the offense isn't talented and the defense let the Saints score 50+ (not sure how many points, if any, came from Saint's defense that game). If Carson went for a first and a second I can't imagine how much Manning could fetch if he fully recovered. I don't think they would trade Manning, but they really are in a bind moving forward.

well considering it was the raiders that traded those picks, its safe to say the normal team wouldnt give that up. Tough decision for them for sure, but i was actually hoping we got to play them this year with manning.....

I wouldn't say trading Peyton Manning would be the best, if he can still play then the Colts are still contenders to win the Super Bowl. If that is the case draft Matt Kalil or Quinton Coples first overall to provide help on either the offensive or defensive line. Otherwise, until the doctors tell Peyton that he will have to retire and can't play another down in Football, then Drafting Luck would be useless.

I think they would do better to trade the first overall pick away for a kings ransom to a team desperate for Luck. That way they can use those picks to build up the deficiency of talent aside of Manning on their team.

That would be awful. Manning doesn't have but 3 years left, max. Draft Luck, you get a player who could possibly be as good as Manning was, and you can have Manning show him the ropes, much like Favre and Rodgers. Trade first overall pick away for a bunch of picks, and you can build the team around a bunch of new comers, and depending on the level of the first round pick you recieve in return, you could possibly get Landry Jones (who is a great qb imo) with that pick in addition to a whole slew of new guys. Draft a guard/tackle, and you have a potential good o-line for nothing in a few years.

I don't care how good they say Luck is, I wouldn't trade Manning for anyone. I'd rather trade the Luck pick for more picks and rebuild that way. Besides, you want to be able to use Freeney and Mathis while you have them, and Reggie Wayne before he retires.

I agree. Like I said as long as Manning plays, then you know the Colts will be focused on getting Peyton another ring before he retires which is why I think it would be useless to draft Luck because they would be drafting for the future and not getting a player who can contribute right away and increase Peyton's chances of winning another Super Bowl.
