Flacco Or ?

5 posts in this topic

So Cam Newton is on a bye this week, and my backup is Flacco, but he's going up against Pittsburgh so I'm a little hesitant about starting him when I'm against our #2 guy who has Aaron Rodgers.

Yahoo is projecting that Tavaris Jackson (vs DAL), Curtis Painter (vs ATL), Andy Dalton (vs TEN), John Beck (vs WAS), and Matt Cassel (vs MIA), will do better than Flacco this weekend.

I'm looking at these matchups but they all seem like they would be suicide to pick up and replace Flacco, but maybe there's something I'm not seeing so I'm kicking it out there.

Do I go with Flacco, try to grab one of these guys, or is there someone else I should be watching for?

Jackson, Painter and Beck certainly won't do better than Flacco. Dalton would be an okay play, but the gem here is Matt Cassel. The Chiefs are on fire after a big win against the Chiefs, and even better is the fact that he is going up against the winless Dolphins. I could see Cassel having a 275 yd 3 TD game. While Flacco could do well, Cassel is the safer play in my opinion.

On top of that the Dolphins are the worst at giving points to opposing Quarterbacks. (I know I stated it was the Pats and Pack in another thread but that was incorrect).

The thing about Cassel is that every time he has gained your confidence (and millions of people are starting him) he lets you down. Just something to remember. He has a history of doing this.

Yeahhhhhh, he was my backup QB when I started the season and we all saw how well he did then. The minute I saw Cam Newton was still sitting out in FA after week 2 or 3, Cassel was so gone from my lineup.

I'm going to try to put my faith in Joe and hope for the best, because I'm definitely screwed going up against Rodgers. My feeling about this game is we're going to be using Cundiff a lot so maybe he can make up for any point deficits

This sounds all too familiar lol

How do the rest of your matchups look vs. your opponent? Imo, if he's your backup, play him. You could look into Dalton which seems to be doing well especially with Green as his main target. I'm not much of a homer so I typically avoid Ravens offense, with the exception of Rice.
