Touchdown Question

5 posts in this topic

Okay, so I've been wondering. If an inside receiver runs say a hitch route where he turns and catches the ball at the edge of the endzone, with his feet inside for 6, yet the ball and his upper body is caught outside the endzone at the 1, would it be a touchdown? Or is it generally just the ball that has to tip the endzone?

Well, its SUPPOSED to NOT be a TD since the ball didnt break the goal line, but well, we all know how that went once before :(

It's not a touchdown unless the ball crosses the plane of the endzone. Or unless you're Santonio Holmes and you're playing for the Steelers.

Of course it is a touchdown-

the way it works is simple-
first it will be ruled incomplete
then it will be challenged by the defensive team
it will then be rule complete and a touchdown
then after replay after replay Dierdorf will say "No way is that a TD"
then there will be weeks of discussion and disgust
NASA will use its finest geolocating spacial software to try and finally draw it to a conclusion
but in the end it will remain a mystery as to what in the he77 ref saw under the hood to overturn a possible incompletion into a touchdown

see its really pretty simple
of course its a touchdown

LMAO the responses are priceless. No it shouldn't be but if you're a Steelers leaning ref you find any means at the behest of the league to make sure their baby wins by any means. God I still can hear the early morning taunts from work that day.
