Still play Grand Theft Auto 4 so definitely. If it's anything like the 4th one, game of the year. The story in that one was phenomenal.

Fell off the GTA bandwagon after San Andreas. I'll check it out but I hope it isn't like GTA4. That was a disappointment to me.

Really? The game surpassed my expectations and more, the story was unbelievable and I loved the game play. You could play the story over 3 times and it could be different each time.

I could never get into the story and I felt like I had to force myself to play because it got repetitive to me. It was a step down from San Andreas in my opinion.

The teaser trailer will be released Wednesday, so there may be minor hints revealed in that short clip.

Indications point to it actually being Las Venturas (a/k/a Las Vegas) and a portion of L.A., similar to San Andreas. The biggest hint comes from how every GTA has had a brief mention of the subsequent's game eventual locale, and there's a billboard for Las Venturas and a brief mention at some point in GTA IV. Also, the design for the 'V' in the logo is taken from the usual font for American dollars, with which Las Vegas is virtually synonymous.

Wait, where in IV is the Billboard? I never saw it.

I believe I saw the billboard near the airport, though it could've easily been a PC mod since I never saw it in my copy of the game.

I know that Las Venturas gets a few mentions on TV and radio within the game.

I'm definitely buying this day 1, no matter where it takes place. I love all the others, especially IV.

It seems highly likely that it will be in Los Santos, Las Venturas and maybe San Fierro. Same cities as in San Andreas.

Only 21 hours until they release the trailer :P

Trailer's out!

After watching it in HD, it's confirmed that the game is set in San Andreas a/k/a California. The words "San Andreas" are seen on the license plates, and recognizable San Andreas locations such as Los Santos (Los Angeles) and Vinewood (Hollywood) make an appearance. Not sure if that means Las Venturas a/k/a Las Vegas will play a role as it did in GTA: San Andreas.

The new lighting engine looks fantastic and makes the game look much more realistic than I expected. It also look as if aerial vehicles return in the game, and you'll be involved in at least one bank heist.

Can't wait!

Watch the trailer here:

It looks like a lot of fun... but I've only ever played bits and pieces of the game and have never bought it.

There's speculation that the older gentleman in the trailer with the square jaw is Tommy Vercetti, protagonist of GTA: Vice City.

I'd love to see Vercetti back in the game, especially if he's a playable character. I just hope they managed to snag Ray Liotta to do his voice again, if that's the case.

I'm glad Rockstar decided to go back to San Andreas. That alone nearly solidified my purchase since it's one of my favorite gaming worlds. Now, I have to see how they will expand on gameplay.

Rockstar has confirmed that the game takes place in Los Santos and it's surrounding areas. But they haven't mentioned anything about San Fierro and Las Venturas. And right now, it sounds like it's only the Los Santos area.

Its about time. I was beginning to think this was going to be the next Detox.

Needless to say, this is a day 1 purchase for me.

I wasn't a big fan of the last one, but SA is probably my favorite video game ever, so hopefully this game is more like the latter.

When is the release date? Anyone know?
There is no official announcement about the release date. But there is a lot of speculation about the guy hammering the "for sale" sign in the ground. The house number is 2405. That could be May 24th, a thursday. It could also just be one of Rockstars pranks to get us all talking :P They like that...

If I had to take a guess based on speculation from the trailer and Rockstar's timing, it'll be out either May 2012 or October 2012. GTA IV was released in the month of May, while previous GTA games had been released in October like clockwork.

There's no way the release date goes beyond October 2012, even for the Holiday season. I believe Rockstar has other titles in the pipeline whose sales they wouldn't want to hurt with the GTA juggernaut, and it's smarter for them to carve their own release window than to compete with other major titles and take away from each others' sales.
