Best Thing About Steelers Beating Brady & Ravens Close Win Against Cards

44 posts in this topic

First off, the Steelers hadn't had a lot of luck beating Brady/Patriots lately. The Pats had been the Steelers achellis heel much like the Steelers have been for the Ravens. What they did yesterday was basically total domination of the Pats in all aspects of the game (much like we did to them Week 1)

Yesterday, we barely beat a 1 win team and got beaten by a one win team just one week ago.

I'm saying all of that to say this - the Steelers just came off an emotional win to a foe who always snuffed out their SB hopes (when they met in the playoffs). - The Ravens did this week one and what happened week two? We had a hangover.

The Ravens won't even be IN the conversation to beat the Steelers Sunday because of our play as of late. That makes us the underdogs again. A position we like to be in.

I think we win this game, and win it handily. AGAIN!

I dont see the Steelers having a hangover because they beat the Patriots dude. You have to remember something there are still a lot of guys on this Steelers roster that have played in at least 2 or 3 Super Bowls in the past 5-6 years. They know what's at stake in this game and they didnt forget what happened to them week 1 in Baltimore with the fake extra point and Harbaugh jacking the crowd up with his arms in the 4th quarter and all that fun stuff. They will be ready to go Sunday and this game will ultimately be close in the end. Neither the Steelers or Ravens whoever ends up winning this game will win it handily I believe...

im not sure if the emotion was there as much as ours vs pittsburgh but also these teams both know what is at stake if their game was against a supposed easy win oppenent i would lean towards them maybe having a lull of a game but with this magnitude i dont see it happening. either way im with you on the win Ravens go in and win a hard fought game just got a good feeling.

I was at the game in Baltimore on opening week and he kept raising his arms in the air to the crowd like non-stop before the 4th quarter was over and the game was even decided yet. Plus, they took another shot in the end zone with Boldin with about 2 minutes left in that game when it was 32-7 and well decided. A lot of the the Steelers players on defense commented on this after the game and didnt forget it is all Im saying. I dont think Harbaugh is the brighest head coach in the league to begin with. The guy whines and cries to the officials on the sidelines more then a lot of the other coaches in the league do.

So it's just Steeler griping? Sour grapes? Nothing that had any impact on the game? Ok.

The Steelers started fights on the field, you don't hear the Ravens whining about that. That's all in the past, don't get too caught up in a game that happened in September.

You guys are still crying about us running up the score!?? Did you perchance see the 60+ points the Saints put up last week? Good grief.

Haha Im over that loss. And I knew it wouldnt be a big deal because I figured as long as the Steelers could stay even with Baltimore in the standings going into the rematch in November that the game opening day would be forgotten about, and they would have a chance to overtake them in the division once again which is exactly what they can do this week with a win. Ive said it before and Ill say it again on here the games you win later on in the season within the division when there are less games left and the division title and playoff implications are greater are the ones that mean more then winning the games early on in the season in September or early October.

I disagree.
We just barely beat a 1-5 team at home, and the Squeelers beat the top-rated team in the AFC convincingly. Really, we should have buried the Cardinals especially being handed it by a lowly Jacksonville team last week. (Again, questions about our offense.) The Squeelers have the momentum especially playing at home.

"Handily"? I don't think so.

I hope we'll win, but let's not do that emotional extreme thing this week. Maybe I can avoid going grey before I'm thirty.

They always play up for the Steelers no matter the situation. I think they are ready to knock that bad taste out of Ravens' fans mouths for good re - Steelers. I expect domination.*

*If not I'll take a sloppy/ugly win though LOL.

I might be willing to agree if it were another team. But we are divisional foes and in a heated rivalry, not the Titans.

Its funny you mention that because a few people at the restuarant looked at him and said not only did you lose that game but did you even play because we didn't notice and ward got up and left.

Am I the only one who really isn't that impressed with the Pats this year?

They're doing great things offensively, nobody can take that away from them. Tom Brady is, well, I mean, I don't even need to say. He's great. That offense is so, so good.

But as good as that offense is, that defense is equally bad. The Patriots are, I think, easy to beat if you do exactly what Pittsburgh did: keep Brady off the field by getting first downs, moving the ball, and playing good red zone defense. I'm not *too* scared of the Pittsburgh offense, especially going against our D.

That being said, nobody in Pittsburgh is afraid of the Baltimore offense, and rightfully so. I'm not by any means saying this is an easy win for us. I'm just saying don't put too much stock in beating the Patriots. Tom Brady can't hurt you if he's on the bench all game.

Exactly.New Englands offense is crazy.Especially their double tight end sets but their defense is one of the worst if not the worst in the league. The key is to keep Brady off the field and you have a huge advantage over them.I think the steelers time of posession was almost 40 minutes compared to the pats who i think barely hit 20 if memory serves me right. So even pitt who isn't anything close to an offensive juggernaut can keep the pats in check with this kind of method.

The key to us beating Pittsburgh again has to be better protection of flacco from the left side of the O line. If the left side plays like they did yesterday Flacco will get smashed and be a repeat of the home game last year. Flacco also needs to remain in the shotgun, hes not a undercenter QB, he just doesn't have the foot work to stay under center. Should be a classic close ravens steelers game. Hoping for the Ravens W.

I learned that the Ravens better be ready for press man coverage. After the Monday night game teams know our receivers struggle against it and the Steelers used it to perfection against the Patriots. I'm sure Brady was surprised by it but the Ravens shouldn't be.

We all know what the Ravens can do when they are clicking on all cylinders. Not saying that it can't be said for any other team either, but when we played the Steelers, Texans, Jets, and even the second half of that Arizona game you could see that this team is capable of big things against anybody. Now that the Steelers beat the Pats they are back at the top of the conference according to media. They are now the team to beat even though the Ravens romping and the Texans are their losses for the season, in which the Ravens handled the Texans as well. I'm not saying that Pitt isn't going to be hungry and will lay an egg again this weekend, but I think the Ravens are a little fired up about the poor play as of late because they know they are better, and for the media to all of a sudden deem the Steelers the top of the division and conference once again. It will be a good game, but I think this game leans in the Ravens favor once again, regardless of the setting.

I seriously doubt that the Steelers are anything except prepared for this game, win over the Patriots or not. Both teams know what this game means, but thanks to the victory over NE (and of course, Baltimore's shamful loss to Jax), Pitt gets to go into match as the current divisional leaders.

If you think the Ravens are scared of the Steelers, you're mistaken... Name one example where Harbs hasn't been justified in complaining about CRAP calls, I mean since you watch the Ravens soo closely... it should be a gimmee! Keep beating your chest and you might just stop your own heart.

That's why I hope Lee is back to health, that would be great. What beats press man? Speed. IF WE could get Lee , Torrey and Q on the field at the same time, the Steelers don't have the corners to stop it.

The Steelers aren't the Rams. We didn't run up the score, but rather we were staying ahead so that the Steelers didn't come back. If we get a chance to score 45 or 50 points against them, then we should do it to remind them of how they knocked us out of the playoffs. I have no pity for them. They are a very good team. Nothing was sweeter than going into the ketchup palace and beating them last year. The looks on their inbred faces was priceless. We didn't score enough in the playoff game once we had the lead. Hopefully, we will go into the hurry up, shotgun after we get the lead. There is no room for mistakes.

The Steelers shut down Fitzgerald and Welker back to back weeks and they are two of the best receivers in the game. If they are capable of that they can definitely shut down both Boldin and Smith and Lee the dud Evans who has barely even played a full game yet with the Ravens...
