Suggs...DPOY Chances?

111 posts in this topic

I think Ray Lewis missing some time and Suggs having HUGE games on national tv is going to help his cause, also..he doesnt get just sacks like other guys, he's a complete football player...great against the run , etc.

he's def in the running

sugss is the only player in the league that can be a pass rusher/run stopper/drop back in coverage and has the stats to prove it. imagine his sack numbers if all he did was go for the qb like some of the others guys up for discussion

from hensley's article about suggs and his DMVP chances

"no one other than suggs has 5 sacks, five passes defended and five forced fumbles this season.
no one other than suggs in the top 30 in sacks has multiple interceptions."

I have this crazyyyy feeling that they'll just hand it over to Hairball again this year.

Would be a travesty.

I remember back when the Ravens were negotiating Suggs' new contract. People were actually phoning in to the squalk shows and saying that he isn't worth the money. Hahaha, what a joke. Suggs is the best thing that happened to the defense this year. Ngata seals off the run and Suggs puts pressure on the QB. His sack total is off the charts this year. Teams are so focused on Suggs that the other linemen are getting into the backfield on almost every play, too. The DBs look great with the QB focused on the rush. Thanks to Suggs! You deserve SB MVP too!

Okay seriously if Jared Allen is so great, how many games have they won because of him? Suggs is a game wrecker. He changed the 2nd Stoolers game when he intercepted it. He owned Alex Smith in the 9ers game. And week 1 he easily owned Big Jen. And he owned Orlovsky last week. It's only gonna get better when Ray Ray comes back. Granted Jared Allen is cursed with Christian Ponder, but he hasn't been a game changer this year like Suggs.

Jared Allen plays all out regardless of that teams record, he plays the run and the pass well... He and A.Peterson give it their all, but that teams offense needs WRs and O-Line. Not to mention secondary is full of injuries.

I do believe Suggs should win but I don't want to discredit Allen as a player, he is one of those players I like to watch play...

Good points all around. If Suggs doesn't win the award then he can take comfort in knowing he was/is deserving.

But to me the talk of Sizzle winning DPOY has been ramping up a lot lately, and he has as good a chance as anyone. If he continues to have multiple sack games and make impact plays then there will be no question at the end of the season. Furthermore, I think this weekends game against the Chargers will be big for his chances of winning the award. If he plays good in another prime time game that amounts to us winning then you may as well mail it in!

Allen recorded that safety a couple of weeks back

Hopefully he put in more effort than he did for this one:

I think suggs just blew it tonight. No one will give him much credit for what he might do against the browns and bengals. Tonight was his chance to shine on national tv. A final audition if you will. He did NADA.

Yeah he did. Its one thing to see the stats and highlights of Suggs tearing up inferior opponents. Its another thing when on national tv your only highlight is a 'head slap'.

Jared Allen congrats on your DPOY.

Allen and Ware both had lackluster weeks too, so as much doing nothing this game hurt Suggs, no one really stood out.

Jason Babin did. I think he's tied for the league lead in sacks. Regardless, at this point, the DPOY race means little to me and it's a good thing Suggs hasn't been in the mood to talk about it much to the media either. This team has bigger issues to take care of, as tonight painfully showed.

actually he HAS the lead w/ 18. Totally feasible that he or ware could get 5 sacks in the last two games and take the record.
Babin could be the sleeper pick. He's had sacks in all but 4 games, and its not like the Eagles have been winning games left and right with huge leads where he can just tee off. That wide 9 D they play is a big risk reward thing and he does get rewarded with quite a few sacks.

Getting erased by McMichael wont help his chances. I just hope he doesnt lose his current Madden rating (98)

Fixed.

suggs is playing like our whole team. very inconsistant.

but after all i couldn´t care less if he wins the DPOY award. if we don´t get to the sb it doesn´t mean a thing!!!
