Merged: Give Credit To Dickson and Pitta

27 posts in this topic

Today our TE's played very well, Pitta had 6 catches for 44 yards, and Dickson also had 6 catches but was for 46 yards. I have noticed Flacco's favorite targets are going to start becoming our 2 great TE's. I hope we start breaking out these two TE's early each game, because It's going to free up our WR's for more open passes. And the defense's will lay off Ray Rice a little more. Yea, so just giving you guys some stats on our TE's.

I have to be honest. When Heap left I got a little worried being that I wasn't sure how Dickson would play and that Pitta didn't really play at all but watching these two its crazy. there more athletic than heap was and with more experience they may get to his level.plus they are both like hybrids that can play te/wr at any time. WE got something special with these two.

You got that right, these guys are special, thanks to Ozzie for drafting these two hybrid TE's. They will be pro-bowlers for years to come.

Billick called Ed "Dickerson". Not sure why I thought It was funny, but I cracked up.
Yeah today he had constipation of the brain and diarrhea of the mouth, so much to say but just could not get it out.

Second best TE duo in the NFL, next to the Pats. Now, if we can get a third good one.
2 is enough, 3 good TEs is overkill, why we let Heap go.

Exactly that's why we need to use them early.

Honestly, Kris Wilson is a stellar 3rd TE. He may not get any catches, but his blocking is severely undervalued. I watched him today and he was plowing through guys like a lineman. He's a great alternative to the receiving tight ends,

It's good to know he's being utilized. I was hoping he would be.

We all know they have potential to create huge mismatches. But the issue usually isn't them, it's playing calling and player personnel packages that prevent them from having breakout games.

Or consistent games like today.

Our guys looked good and let us know why it was okay to let Heap go. Most of us miss Heap but this very game was a microcosm of why we had to move on. I know he wanted to play, just to play in front of us again but he was hurt. Now we have young guys that haven't been hurt. If one were to get hurt then we have to the other. I like where we are at TE because there seems to be no drop off between Dickson and Pitta.

Dickson is just so versatile. He can be a downfield threat, and a great possession guy as well. Pitta has ridiculous hands, and is a great underneath guy. I dont recall seeing him ever drop a ball.

Both of these guys showed us what a Tight End as an eligible receiver could do. Petigrew and his counterpart in Detroit do the same. I think that Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta can out show both of them. They had some great short rout usual tight end running ability and that pulled through for us in the 4th..
Without them opening up the middle for us we would not have won the game. Todd will be missed but 2 solid Tight Ends for the price of 1 pro bowler wasn't a bad deal at all...

Cam has to utilize them better, especially Pitta. The guy gets open and doesnt drop anything.
I was just thinking the same thing. While Dickson has dropped a few easy one's, there is not one single pass I remember Pitta dropping, he also has deceptive speed.

The duo they should be striving to be is Gronkowski and Hernandez. Those dudes are freaks.

This right here. I get jealous watching highlights sometimes.

If every Secondary Player is either Blitzing on Tom Brady or putting extreme amounts of pressure on Wes Welker and Chad Ochocinco. Then 1 of those TE will be open and unless he has sloppy hands he is going to make a play....
