Baltimore Ravens At Pittsburgh Steelers

575 posts in this topic

Ahhh yes, Steelers week once again. I think we can all agree that this is the biggest game left on the regular season schedule. Pittsburgh looked great yesterday against NE, but I think our team matches up really well against the Steelers. NE has an abysmal secondary and an even worse pass-rush, but our defense is much stronger. I dont expect another 7 TO performance, but I still think our front 7 can push around the Steelers Oline. Big Ben will once again be on the run with Sizzle, Ngata, McPhee and the rest of the gang right on his tail. Our Oline has been poor as well, so we need to hope they can get it together this week. Its possible that Pitt will have Harrison back and Woodley has a hamstring, but I am pretty sure he will play as well.

The game will likely come down to who wins the battles in the trenches and minimizing turnovers. I think we have a slight edge here, but being at Pitt could be a difference maker. It will be a close game and an exciting game. I cant wait until Sunday!

I'll say this if that piece of crap Ike Taylor is out it is over for them.....If cam realizes the no huddle is an offense you can use for more than one quarter.

If Ike is out that is the biggest injury they could have...yeah even bigger than woodley. They have always had a great stable of LB's and worlids is no joke either.

If Ike is out then they have roll coverage to one side or the other forcing polamalu into coverage (to which he is average at best) and keeps him off the LOS. That alleviates a lot of worry and if we are in shotgun it gives Joe a better view of the field. and If with 2 star lb's out they are a lot less predictable and the disguise goes out the window, because worlids is inexperienced in coverage and would get eaten alive. That means timmons has to cover Dickson and leaving RR on Farrior.

If Ike is out it is going to be bad for them ,and the beautiful thing is that concussions are heavily monitored by the league so there can be no fibbing on his condition.

And I think we have been holding Grubbs so he was 100 % for this game, and Evans I think can go as well but they want him for this game as well.
Worilds has been hurt all season, I'm not sure of his status for next week but he has barely played for them. Thats why Timmons has been pushed into playing OLB. The Steelers have a lot of injuries. Even if all their guys play, its hard to believe they will all be at 100%.

I agree with you about Ike Taylor. He is one of their most important players as he can take away a receiver pretty well. If he is out, Boldin could have another monster game.

I've been thinking(hoping) that this was the case for the past 3 weeks. Keep them guessing and then show up on gameday with all of our weapons ready to play.
But then again, the doubter in me thinks that Grubbs injury is season ending and that Evans ankle will require surgery.

You don't think the Ravens have been preparing for this game more than any other?
I guess that would explain why the Ravens lost to a bad Jaguars team and then 6 days later had to come back down 21 points in their own stadium against a 1-6 Arizona team in the 2nd half to win on a last second FG. If Harbaugh and his coaching staff were this arrogant and stupid to overlook both the Jags and Arizona the last 2 weeks because they knew they had the Steelers coming up next then he has no business being a head coach in the National Football League.

Our Oline beat them up and man-handled them last time, why do you say that?

Couldn't of said it any better myself, it will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes, the battles in the trenches and who capitalizes at opportune times.

As Ray Lewis said about the first go-around with the Steelers: it's hit or be hit. This Ravens defense has been saving up some heavy hits for Ben.

You don't think the Ravens have been preparing for this game more than any other? No matter what happens, they are bringing their best to this one.

I predict 37-14 Ravens win.

Would that explain why the Ravens lost to a 1 win Jaguars team last Monday night and then had to come back down 21 points in their own stadium yesterday against a 1-6 Arizona team?? If Harbaugh and the Ravens were this arrogant and cocky to overlook both of these teams just because they knew the Steelers were up next on their schedule then Harbaugh has no business coaching in the National Football League.

Our D is elite. We will win if we win the turnover margin. Ben is overrated in the sense that he let's too many balls fly when he's just trying to not take a sack. Think about ed reed's picks week 1, ben will make mistakes if our pass rush can get after him. The Pats D is disgustingly bad. it actually made me so much more thankful to have OUR defense. Pats won't go anywhere in the playoffs because any playoff team will put points up on that D. Defense wins championships and the best D in football is in baltimore.

we win turnover margin:

Ravens win: 27-21

we lose turnover margiin:

Steelers win 17-13

Winner goes to superbowl because i believe the momentum from winning this game will carry them although the Ravens did have a hangover week 2 I believe they finally learn their lesson not to mention that 5-2 Cinci looms after this game

I'm nervous, cause of the way we've been running the offense lately, somethings seriously up.. Flacco was in such a funk vs jags and cards, he really needs to get himself out... Seems like hes taking the must win games like jags, cards and titans too lightly... Maybe he'll bulk up vs Pitt?

No Woodley, Harrison, and Farrior does help. I hope their gone, big advantage for us if they are.
Do you think all of them, or any of them, will be out for the game? Ward too?

If they're out, we obviously have a big advantage on them. Then if we capitalize on that and win, we won't hear the end of Steeler fans making it an "excuse" as to why we won and how we wouldn't win if they had played.

So far. Both Harrison and Woodley are expected to make the game. Woodley is just supposed to have cramps but must get it verified by examinations. Harrison is expected to be at practice Thursday.

Whats the word on Ike, I am more worried about him than either Woodley or Harrison, although I doubt Harrison will be at 100, but hey its his career.

Ike has a shoulder injury and saw stars (their calling it a "ding") during a play last night. He got back in the game last night afterwards. Unless they find something new (he needs examined also) he's expected to play as well.

This should be one of the best games this season. I know the Steelers are going to play a lot differently than they did against us in Week 1. Then we have the Ravens drama as to which offense will take the field this coming Sunday.

I wouldn't be surprised if Evans makes his appearance in this game. Then again I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't either lol

Does everybody forget that we already beat the living crap out of them when they were 100% healthy? You can't get more healthy than the season opener...

In my amateur, uninformed opinion, it looked like a concussion. He was face-down, motionless for a decent amount of time. Of course, I'd love to see the Steelers best CB on the sidelines, so maybe it's my heavily-biased subconscious making the diagnosis :P

Winners envision themselves winning. You can't win if you have a negative view of yourself.
This kind of reminds of when fans tell other fans to "stop focusing on what happened Sunday, we need to concentrate on the next game" as though we're players or something.

The players and coaches should absolutely think that they can win, but that isn't going to stop me from making a prediction. I sincerely hope that the Ravens will prove me wrong.
I see people saying we lost to the Jags and Titans and the Steelers beat them. We beat the Texans though, and the Steelers lost to them. I'd say the Texans are a much better team than the Jags and Titans, and I blame the Ravens more than I give credit to those teams for those losses. I think we underestimated them and didn't come prepared. We came prepared in week 1 though didn't we?

@darklight And we've also beaten the Texans (who the Steelers lost to) the Steelers themselves and the Steelers nearly lost to the winless Colts. You're point? The NFL does NOT work that A beat B and B beat C so A should beat C. There are too many intangibles in a football game to try to make it fit some mathematical formula.
Both of these posts are speak towards the same thing. I did not say that because this team has beaten that team this team will also beat another team. I was talking about tiebreakers.

In other news: according to PFT, Woodley is week-to-week, but Harrison is expected to return.

I have a really good feeling about this game. I think Evans will play. I was really impressed from what I saw of our TE's yesterday. We have a HUGE opportunity to take control of the division and I don't think we will mess it up.

I honestly wouldn't be too bothered by who plays and who doesn't for the Steelers. As some have mentioned, we beat them already and our D are playing lights out. Suggs will be like a man possessed in this one and I expect to see 2 sacks from him and Kruger with JJ getting in on the action too.

The steelers have been worse than us offebsively, overall. Our defense will stop them, if our offense can put up 17+ we will win.

Webb usually plays mike wallace pretty well even though wallace did get 100 yards in week one. So I'm cobfortable with that matchup but I would like to see jimmy on hines ward. Jimmy is big and physical and wouldent be able to be pushes around by ward

Couple things from my point of view and yes (I'm a Steelers fan)

1.) Week 1, Ravens stomped the Steelers but I think nothing in terms of mentality carries over from that game to this one.

2.) Just where I thought week 1 was much more important to the Ravens I think the opposite holds true on this one. This game is much more important to the Steelers and their psyche.

3.) I have no idea how potent the Ravens offense will be on Sunday, I feel they can score anywhere from 10 to 35.

4.) The 7 turnovers in week 1 were nice for the stats but I said it before, turnovers didn't dictate that game.

5.) Sacks have become part of the lifestyle for a Steelers fan. Ben was sacked 5 times by the Patriots and that is such a misleading number. Ben is Ben, he is going to get sacked, it all depends if he learns his lesson and holds onto the ball once he is hit.

6.) LeBeau may use some tight coverage against the Ravens like he did against the Pats after seeing how successful it was.

7.) Max Starks is back. Yes he was let go by the Steelers, but he has done a pretty quality job these past few games. Also, I think this is the 3rd game in a row that the Steelers will ahve the same o-line starting.

Overall, this is probably the most lost I am coming up to a Ravens Steelers game. I can see this being a blowout each way or a tight one like always. I truly think this one is 52-48% in favor of the Steelers only because of home field advantage.

Here's to an injury free game.

I honestly expect to lose this game. No that im being a downer, but i expected to split the games with the steelers. Now that being said, the way we have been playing im expecting a 31-10 loss, give or take. But my theory is that for some reason we play down to other teams talents, ie jags cardinals. So i would not be shocked if this is a 10-13 game either, but this being IN pittsburg, i chalk it up as a loss.
