Jarret Johnson

Harbaugh was on the sideline yelling at him. And Jarrett did the "close your mouth" hand signal, that's not going to go to well with Harbaugh.

In a game like this every yard is so valuable. I understand it is a heated moment. But how many times do you see Ed Reed or Ray Lewis losing their composure? That 15 yard penalty was costly. We had them in their own territory and they were struggling for yards.

I am impressed by our team as a whole, but these stupid flags need to stop.

We've always had a problem with penalties. It's not going to go away. We have a lot of young athletes on this team. And that's what you usually get.

IMO Jared Johnson should be fined by the team. He gave all of the momentum back to the Steelers and "insulted" the head coach on the sideline.

They should implement team fines for personal fouls like this.

When you are being paid to play, you need to be held accountable for your actions. This selfish display of "me/me" reaction cost the team. This is a team not one on one.

Notice how we didn't see any Frank Walker. Because we couldn't afford any penalties in this game. Obviously Johnson did not get that MEMO.

Somebody ought to send it to him again.

I'm almost sure none of you all have ever played organized football. This is not the first and will not be the last situation where the refs caught the "second" guy. For the team to fine him would be absolutely dumb, stupid, foolish, ect. That penalty in no way lead to the missed tackles which allowed Holmes to score or Joe Flacco thinking he has 7-8 seconds in the pocket. JJ played a good game and we need to be more appreciative.

Sorry, I don't agree. It was stupid and shifted momentum toward the other team. And I'm sure the coach would disagree with you too!

The personal fouls that this team causes on themselves needs to be addressed. I don't care if you ever played organized football or not. These guys have to play smarter than that. He threw Hines Ward down way after the play was over. It was a boneheaded play and the way he shrugged off the coach was uncalled for.

You don't need to play "organized football" to understand what a stupid penalty can do in a close game. The momentum shift was immediate after that happened. It was exaclty what Hines Ward was trying to accomplish. The most shocking part about it was that I expected that from Bart Scott not Jared Johnson.

I agree with you.

You do not need to be the "second guy". People use to provoke me into doing something stupid. Don't do it - just walk away. Jar a little bit, but don't do anything stupid. Heinz Ward does this sort of crap on purpose, because he knows he'll get a flag his way. That flag got the fans going for the first time in a long time. It helped move a struggling offense into their own field. Sure Johnson didn't cause the touchdown, but he did assist to it.

I'm sure Harbaugh & Lewis understand the "second man" theory - heck they both play football, that is why they both were screaming in his ear on the sideline.

I agree with that but I am not sure its legal under NFL rules. I'd like to fine Antwaan Barnes a nice hefty one for smacking the back of Holmes helmet. That play right there cost us 20 yards. We already had the 5 yard penalty on the Steelers. Holmes yapping had given us another 15 but then comes Barnes and his little smack to wipe it all away.

Hines Ward was right there being Hines Ward and getting up on Jarrett as they were going out of bounds so I can't blame Jarrett for reacting to someone as unlikeable on the field as Ward. Was it the right thing to do? Of course not, we all agree on that and if Johnson could do it over he would. Harbs has already said in the post game conference that it was a "heat of battle, grey area kind of penalty" so he obviously doesn't put a whole lot of blame on Jarrett.

And there is NO reason for the team to fine him, why would they? Yes it was one of several mistakes that cost us the game, but come on...it's one game. Yes, it would have been nice to win it, but again Jarrett's foul was not the only reason we lost the game. It's a learning experience (seeing as he has never been called for a 15 yarder), even for a vet like him and I doubt we're gonna see it happen again from him anyway.

I agree with Neepo as well, Barnes' helmet "tap" on Holmes was a foolish thing to do. We were just lucky that Holmes came back with his own personal foul...

I blame Johnson in large part for last nights loss.

That 15 yard penalty totally swung the momentum. The staidum was whisper quiet prior to that. The penalty completely energized the crowd. The steelers scored on that drive. Then the fumble,,,,

well you all know the rest.

Momentum changer it was. No question.
We HAD that game.

It was dumb yes, and straight after he did it Im sure he realized that. But whats done is done, Id be more concerned if he does it again, these Steeler games are as violent and heated as it gets.
Jarret Johnson, What was he thinking
What was he thinking?

He was thinking:

"I'm gonna wipe that ugly smile right off your face..."

JJ got into a fight with Todd Heap during training camp. This shouldnt have surprised anyone.

Hines Ward thought that he could get all smart in his face and he lost his cool; immature move by Johnson but somewhat understandable. To say that he insulted Harbaugh is just ridiculous, Jarret was completely aware of the mistake that he had committed and was probably fuming inside on the sidelines. It probably took a lot of self control not to push Harbaugh away with him screaming in his ear. Jarret knew how stupid his play was.
