MERGED: Threads Urging a Rational Approach To Our Woes

Well gee, let's see...

The first half, our OL is garbage, and we get buried in a 24 - 6 deficit.

The second half they show up for the game, and we dust AZ 24 - 3.

Coincidence?

No way I put the Niners in over us, our D would absolutely destroy their O but then again, our D destroyed the Jags O and we seen how that ended.
Yes our D would probably overmatch them, but how do you see our offense going up against them?

I'll assume the case is closed then. It turns out football is a team sport after all

It's much easier to bash Flacco when you ignore his positives..

Besides, Tyrod Taylor could have led that 3rd-4th quarter come back with his eyes closed. He's the answer to our offensive woes (Cant believe we got him in the 6th round, cant believe he got passed up like that!) but our coaching staff likes Joe way to much and would rather see us lose than give Taylor a chance!

I have NFL sunday ticket so trust me, I know a little more about football than the Ravens FO and coaching staff does.

/sarcastic rant

Wrong. Tyrod would never have allowed us to fall behind in the first place. haha

You're right, would have just ran it 80 yards if the line didn't hold up. :D

Let me just say though, I'm not bashing Tyrod. The fact that they're cool with having a Rookie as a backup to Joe definitely instills some confidence. I'm sure he would step up and do his best if the need arouse.

Yeah, but many other teams have horrible O-lines... more than half the NFL has horrible O-line. The Panthers have one of the worst O-lines in the NFL, worst than ours, but Cam doesn't care he carries that team.
He and his turnovers have carried them to a 2-6 record. And it's not like they have exactly had a tough schedule, or he doesn't have a ton of talent around him on offense.
Cam's a rookie, and having a great start, but I'll take a winner like Flacco over a fantasy football stud any day of the week.

I don't watch much Panthers football, but I've seen highlights of Cam Newton. From what I've gathered, they run A LOT of shotgun formation due to the lack of protection that O-Line provides. Cam seems to do very well in Shotgun. Guess what we ran the 2nd half against Arizona.. Shotgun.. and for the same reasons w/ similar results. The Panthers run their passing offense in a way that compliments them and they do it consistently. Cameron runs this offense the way he wants it ran until it stalls and dies.. then, MAYBE at halftime makes the proper adjustments.

Just my 2 cents.

I took most of the week off from the boards because the arguments were getting too heated, but I'm glad I saw you address this bravely, fly.

I go to the home games whenever I'm here. I watch Tyrod warm up next to Joe. People talk about Joe's accuracy, and yet, I have to wonder how often they watch Taylor warm up, where he can't even hit the wide open receiver with no pass rush in stride. The difference in caliber between the two QBs is so amazing that I have to second your argument that there's either a lack of football knowledge, or common sense, or both.

There's no argument there. Maybe in three years there could be if #2 is determined enough to be an NFL starter, but not now. Joe Flacco is what the real deal looks like. He shredded a Pittsburgh defense that owned Tom Brady. Threw for almost 400 against a Rams defense that embarrassed Drew Brees. Guess what? It's the NFL. Even Rodgers is going to have some tough days when he doesn't play a complete joke of a D for once. We're 5-2. After a game where Joe took the team on his shoulders and came out like a champion.

I'm proud that he's my QB. That's what a Raven should do.

If you feel like getting a black eye, go tell your favorite Redskin fan that we have a bad QB situation here in Baltimore. And mention our "inability to win" with Flacco if you need some ribs taken out, as well.

They are totally deficient at guard, but remember, that team has the second best center in the entire NFL as well in Ryan Kalil. Only Mangold is better. Byron Bell has been inconsistent but pretty good for a rookie. They also have a TE and RB situation to die for.

Better communication and execution from Mount Mckinney and Gurode on the lett side of the offensive line until Grubbs gets back. Right now it is evident(to me) that they are the weak links on offense and the reason the run game has suffered the last few games and pass protection has been pretty bad. You only have to look back and majority of the blitzes against us are coming right at Gurodes A or B gap.

Steve Mcnair with not one receiver outside of the slow Todd Heap, and mason who has played on three teams this year alone.

Here's an interesting read regarding our OL and it's performance:

http://www3.rtsports.com/football-news/1000082326

Also, Harbaugh talked about how our no huddles helped keep the pass rush at bay a little.
Isn't that something we have been asking for for a long time??

I wish half the people on this forum would read this post. People tend to lose objectivity when feeling frustrated over a loss. But I am sure there are much more productive ways of venting about a loss than scrutinizing every nut and bolt of individual performances in a team game.

As a side note I wonder how much camera angles have an effect on the way people watch the game at home. I know it's an odd point but hear this one out. Current digital media allows us to be up close, and watch in slow motion. But when you're at the game it plays out much faster, and you can see the whole field. The way the angles are shot now they only really show the QB, the ball in the air, or follow the running back. It's rather misleading really because it dramatically slows the game down. It's easy to pin all the blame on the only player the camera really follows, and the camera rarely focuses on the line play.

Our O does pretty good against 3-4 teams who rely on the blitz to get pressure so I like our O going against their D a hell of a lot better than their O going against our D.
