To Everyone That Wants Cam Fired Now..

57 posts in this topic

Who is going to replace him in the middle of the season? Are we just gonna learn a new system on the fly with a new guy? I want Cam gone too but we have to wait until the offseason. It's completely unrealistic to petition that we fire our OC in the middle of the season with a 4-2 record. Not to mention how much a coaching change like that will divide the locker room, according to reports there's plenty of people who believe in Cam within the locker room. Firing him now is gonna shake up a locker room that is finally starting to mesh as a complete unit after 3 long years.

We just gotta stick it out, hopefully Harbaugh will increase his influence on the O and return Joe to the role of game manager (he's the best game manager in the NFL as silly as that sounds). It's not complicated we have the best FB in football, a pro bowl RB, and a Line that's strength is run blocking. Line up and run the ball, feed rice, he always breaks one if you just give him enough carries. The passing game will open up if we can run the ball it's that simple. We're getting way too complicated with the PA so early in the game. We have completely abandoned draws as well. Shotgun draws to rice are extremely effective, why is he not getting the ball out of passing formations as well?

There's nothing scarier than a team the can run out of pass formations and pass out of run formations. It builds this factor of unpredictability that forces defenses to freeze when the ball is snapped. You won't see as many LB's going downhill to clog up running lanes if we can pass the ball over the middle out of run sets. These are basics of football that doesn't take 25+ years of coaching to figure out. KISS should at the top of cam's clipboard during game's. Keep It Simple Stupid!

Agreed on all counts. I think most of us accept and realize that he won't be replaced midseason. I can't speak for everyone though... :P

I agree with the logic presented and that's why I lean towards keeping Cam for the remainder of the season...

...but that doesn't mean I want him back next season. Not unless he does some phenomenal 180 on the level of a Sean Payton-type offense.

He more than likely won't be fired anytime soon. I couldn't say the same though if we were 2-4, but funny enough, we're 4-2 mainly due to our defense. I just know that whatever happens in January/Febraury, he needs to be shown the door.

Yeah, it's pretty much a given that he'll remain for the rest of the season. But that doesn't mean "the balance of power" couldn't shift in another direction. There has to be someone on that sideline or in the booth that could do a better job of play calling and play management.

I still say getting rid of Cam will be better sooner rather than later. Hopefully this Monday night travesty will force Harbs and the FO to release some of Cam's leash on the offense and this complex he has about passing twice as much as running. It's like he forgot there was a lockout and we added 5 new pieces on offense.

I dont understand how Oz is letting this garbage happen on offense. Why isnt he reaming out Cam for not giving Joe more freedom/responsibility daily? Its just confusing because we have all seen Ozzies genius and I am shocked that this situation with Cam and Joe and our offense could get so out of hand. This defense is way too good to have another season wasted.

The team doesn't believe in micromanaging. Ozzie doesn't interfere with coaching duties. If someone's to blame for Cam getting out of hand, it's Harbs for not getting on Cam's back more.

That said, it's also on Cam to execute, and he's not doing it, hence why the team is backing off him. If the offense fails, it's all on Cam's shoulders. They gave Cam everything he wanted, from additional receivers to new guys on the line, etc., and if Cam cannot turn it around with the tools given, then we know the blame rests on him. I said it during last offseason after the presser when Steve Bisciotti said he wasn't firing Cam yet.

It's similar to a boss giving their employee everything the employee says they need to succeed, and if said employee cannot be productive with those tools, then it's not exactly the tools' fault if the employee cannot put them to use. While the tools in this case are living, breathing human beings, the concept remains the same.

How do we know he is not? How do we know Cam did not get the <chewing out> of his life Tuesday morning ?

Cam may not be the best OC by any means but he is not an idiot. He knows full well his job is on the line this season.
Simple reality is, its best to leave well enough alone until the season ends.

He's not an idiot?

Let's see. We have this fullback named Vonta Leach, right? He has said he just wants to block, not run. Right?

So what does Cam do?

Runs him TWICE in a row in our 5 yard line for the 5000th time this season, where the other 4998 times it was extremely unsuccessfull.

Its too late now.

The time to move on from him was in the off-season. Now we must suffer for that mistake until the end of our season.

Since they gave him complete control of the offense, we're stuck with him until the end of the season. I expect him to be gone though after this season. He's doing a great job at failing and staying inconsistent.

just watched Cam on Game Plan and he said....

"We could have been more patient with the run...we gotta find ways to convert on third down...and we can stay more patient with the run because we got one of the great running backs in this league." he also said...."Let's get back to running the football! We're not gonna be able to run it all of the time, we know that but we can run it effectively." finally he said... "We say that this group is a work in progress but we can only say that for so long....we gotta get the job done!"

ummmm....yep! now let's see all of this on the field.

If we wanted a running fullback we would have kept McClain who was great at that. But we hire Leach to take over because hes a pure FB. So now hes catching the ball and running up the middle. Why?

The irony is that Billick fired Fassel after a 4-2 start in 2006. But that was with more veteran receivers like Heap and Mason, and it won't happen this time.

Buddy of mine (that I've known since I was 14) was at the Jaxs game. He was right behind the Ravens bench and he said that he heard and saw Flacco repeatedly cussing at Cam saying that he needs to be "allowed" to audible at the line. I am still inclined to say that this is all (80%) on Cam and 20% on Flacco!

I would believe it. I just wish Flacco would come out and say it instead of letting Cam lie to The Sun

That was also before the bye week so the offense had more time to get adjusted to the new OC, which was Billick himself, so they already had a feel of what he was going to do. Harbs is not an offensive coach, nor is he a defensive coach; he's a ST coach. We're also past our Bye Week in the middle of the year, so it would be counter-productive. Although we'd have much more flexibility on offense without Cam, and some would even argue that we would be playing smarter without him, even without an OC (myself included)

All this is great and I would love to see us win a SB but with Cam I am thinking it impossible. If he got us there I have no doubt he would be the one calling the plays because he thinks he is the only one that can perform on that stage. I would rather us do it now.

It is not like this offense is getting it done regardless. We are winning on defense and if you dont realize that then you are a fool.

If we changed now, than that would help us for 2 reason's. One we could really find out if Joe has the mettle to lead this offense to a SB, no matter how it turns out it would be great to know.

Also if we changed we could get used to a base system relatively fast which with the way our defense is playing is all we really need. Than by the time the offseason hits we can start adding the wrinkles and by training camp the system will be completely functional. These guys are pros and could learn the system fast. And as complex as Cams system is, it is not like that they understand this playbook any freakin way.

Leach has got what 3 carries this season? He was given the ball when we were backed up so as to not generate a negative play and to avoid a possible safety. Stop whining.

So in the little time weve had him he has doubled his rushing attempts in his career. And for the record atleast one was a goal line play that he got stuffed on.
