Are you kidding? Not every sack was their fault. Flacco is a rookie, he tends to hold the ball to long. Atleast 2 of the sacks they gave up tonight were Flacco's fault. Considering what Pittsburgh was able to do to our offensive line last year, I say they played a damn good game. We had some growing pains but they are young and I think they are going to continue to improve.

Considering what were used to doing to pittsburgh, it was a sub-par defensive battle.

Seriously fellas? They did a fine job blocking this game..we were playing the Pittsburgh Steelers for gods sake! We all knew that coming into this game we would need to block to make plays and Flacco got time to do so, hence the 20 points we put up. It wasn't the o-line that lost this game for us, it just wasn't meant to be. I can't stand all the pointing the finger BS that goes on after a loss. Nobody hates to lose, and lose to the Steelers at that, more then myself(ask my wife), but look at the positives in the game and weigh out who we played against and look towards next week. This team will go a long way playing the way we do and we showed the nation how tough we are and that counts!

I agree. How many turnovers did our defense get? Weren't all of our points put up by the offense? Flacco made a few mistakes, but I think this is the best game he has played yet. Able to make a late 4th quarter drive 80 yards or so to tie the game? I think he played well. The Jarret Johnson penalty sure didn't help but of course they didn't see Hines Wadd show him first  Of course I'm pissed that we lost, but overall I'm happy with the play off the offense. Looking forward to next week. Oh and next time we play those clowns, we'll be in OUR house.

I agree with the Moderator...Flacco makes mistakes...but he seems to learn quickly and not repeat them...and BTW he was facing probably the toughest test he will face all year in Dick Lebeau's defense in Pittsburgh with all the noise...

I am not calling Flacco out or anything but dont act like he didnt share in the blame for his being sacked. Hopefully, he has learned from it and we will move it. All I am saying is not all the blame should fall on the offensive line.

and it is my humble opinion that we have seen perhaps the best Offensive line play to date out of this group...Cam Cameron has this group well coached...If the pas protection broke down against Blitzburgh well, that is just lessons learned for the future...

Nope, not all of it. But, a couple times he got sacked because he held on to the ball too long.......because he didn't get enough time. Overall, I think he played pretty darn good. He got rid of the ball when he needed to (for the most part), made some money throws, and led the team all the way down the field, late in the 4th, AT Pittsburgh, to tie the game. Once again he showed a TON of poise. I think this kid has what it takes.

I think where we went wrong tonight was in not sticking to a balanced offense all the way to the end...Cam probably wanted to take it to em, smashmouth, and eat up the clock, but with the game in the balance in OT I think one stabb down the field couldn't have hurt...

Overall I think this O line is as good as, or beter than we have ever had...just a little inexperienced...

Oh, come on. If you see the blitz coming, you need to get rid of the ball. Its that simple. He did it most of the game but there were times that he didnt do it and it cost him. Maybe, nobody got open downfield or what have you. But giving the circumstance's our offensive line played very well. Everyone wants to focus on the negative, lets look at the positive. THEY DIDNT HAVE ONE FALSE START PENALTY THE ENTIRE GAME. The Steelers had like 3. That's impressive.

Dude, relax. I'm placing the blame squarely on Returns and Penalties. A fumble is to be expected. A couple sacks are to be expected. Especially with a rookie. But I still think Flacco has the potential to be a very, very good QB in this league. The defender got a lucky bounce (kick) of the ball, picked it up and scored on the fumble. Return yardage could have DEFINITELY been better. And penalties? They are really starting to get old. Oh, and Bart needs to go back to tackling basics. You don't arm tackle a 6'5" 260lb guy. I don't care if he is only a QB. We desperately need a big-play WR. If a team decides to double Mason we are in trouble!

I was actually impressed by our offensive line despite the 6 sacks. Gaither was having some difficulty on the left side though. But against an aggressive Defense we held our own. It did help a tad that Casey Hampton was out though, we definitley didn't need a big NT breaking through on occasion.

But overall the line held the Steelers blitzes in check. The coverage was pretty good by the Steelers when they ran these blitzes, forcing Flacco to hold the ball to much.

For the most part I was very impressed with our Offensive Line, though there were a few times I saw Terry getting beat way to early on . . . against a team like the Steelers we cant' expect to hold them off forever, but just giving Joe 2-4 seconds (or maybe 12.4? ;)) made a world of difference through most of the game. Granted we gave up 5 sacks and that maybe because of a mixture of things: the pressure getting through the Line, Flacco holding onto the ball, and the Steelers coverage doing its job. Ultimately when the Steelers got sacks, generally is was because their defense did their job, their coverage kept our guys from getting open before Joe could throw the ball, which gave their pass rush time to get through our line to sack him.

I was hoping to see Willie Anderson. The first sack Adam Terry gave up wasn't his fault. The play was designed to have the right tackle line upside of the left tackle and block their best pass rusher. I don't blame Terry for that, cause I knew he didn't have a chance. He also had a lot of pressure coming from that right side and I think he gave up a sack or two. I think it would be a great idea to get Willie Anderson most of the reps this week in practice.

On multiple reviews of the game tape I noticed a few things:

Slipping: Terrys foot slid and he lost his footing in the sacks he let through, Gaither lost his footing and slipped and almost lost his man a few times, linebackers on both sides sliding trying to change direction, the Steelers NT Hoke slipped over a few times.

Pass blocking: Both Terry and Gaither are good sealing the edge but give ground to double moves and sometimes on inside shucks (remember the Steelers OLBs have neither elite size or speed) and Terry is still weak against the bull-rush. Something looked sluggish here and Im praying it was the ground.

Our interior line dont know how to pick up blitzes.

Beating coverage:

Yep, most times nobody but Mason is open after even 4 seconds.

Gaithers sack:

He beats Woodley on the edge and rides him past the pocket, only nobody is open, Gaither thinks his job is done and lets up, only Woodley wheels right back around and hits Flacco. FINISH YOUR BLOCKS!!!
