Has Joe Hit The Ceiling?

287 posts in this topic

I cant right him off yet, i think we give him one year under a new offensive co ord next year (im assuming cam is gone) and if he doesnt show improvement, then look elsewhere, if he does, sign him to a 3/4 yr deal

Probably. He's never really carried this team on his back, proven he can't be clutch, and he's failed at being a good game manager this year. Cutler has a much worse O Line and WR corps but he's doing good.

Hire Norv Turner when he's fired from San Diego, sign either DeSean Jackson or Vincent Jackson, make sure Grubbs is a priority, ba-da-boom-ba-da-bam-de-bam.

That would be a coup, but it'll never happen :(

I don't care if the last two don't come to fruition, but I want Norv Turner on this team

That's a definite possibility... Cameron is all but a lame duck, and he's coaching like it.

A couple of bad games dont mean anything in regards to flacco.Tampa Bay beat the Saints and Drew Brees..Weve got to look at this another year or so before we get this drastic.

Drew Brees is consistently amazing right?

He just threw more TDs than incompletions didn't he?

What has Flacco done? Pass 387 yards agains the Rams.

Brees and Rivers didn't really develop into the Pro Bowl QBs they've become until Cam left the scene or they left Cam... coincidence? I think not.

I think Flacco's problem this year is not having competition at the back-up QB spot. With Bulger in the mix, Flacco had to perform or risk getting pulled. With TT backing him up, Joe doesn't feel the heat and can "relax" as it were. I think Joe needs that push from a veteran to get his stuff in gear.

Flacco (as well as other players) might not have confidence in what the offense is doing under Cam, which is a big problem. It's hard to execute when you have a negative thought in your mind from the beginning of the play. I just don't know, we've never seen Flacco away from Cam. All I can say is, he's not the first QB to be heavily criticized like this in his first few seasons. He's certainly not the quickest decision maker, I'm hoping that he continues to improve at that.

flacco had a miserable game and he will get most of the blame because hes the qb rightfully so but he took us down 80 yards late in the game when we needed it most for a td to put us down 2 points the game came down to that unbelievably bad call by harbaugh to go for an onside kick with the best defense in the league i will never ever ever!! understand why not just kick the ball off and make the jags who havent moved the ball all night go 80 yards on our defnese we had 2 timeouts and the 2 minute warning that was the whole game right there harbaugh deserves just as much blame if not more than flacco does

If Flacco is having a meh year because he feels too comfortable, he isn't playing the right sport.

I'm gonna take everything back i said about Flacco for now. I think it's not fair to judge him when he has no time to go through his reads cuz he's getting insta-pressure on a 4 man rush and we have an incompetent OC. I say we should wait and see when Grubbs and maybe Evans is back. I think Grubbs makes the difference.

Also lets examine this

Week 1
Flacco tore it up

Week 2
Instant pressure and our receivers got NO SEPERATION the whole game

Week 3
Flacco tore it up

Week 4
Pressure for the most part, and Flacco was going up against one of the leagues best secondarys with terrible WRs

Week 5
Oline was terrible in the beggining but when it gelled out Flacco did pretty good

Week 6
Tons of pressure, receivers had no seperation (so many missed PI flags) Flacco had a terrible day

I honestly don't think it's Flacco for the most part, sure he's been a factor, but our o-line cant pass protect and that means no seperation which means a bad day for Flacco

What makes me the MOST unhappy is the amount of analysts targeting Joe to no end and squarely blaming him for the loss. I understand it can be easy to lose faith in the guy after that game. But that's different from "jumping off the bandwagon" like so many are now, and I am still extremely confident that the offense will NEVER play like that again. So all of a sudden he's Tony Romo. The hell...How about making him Jay Cutler? That would do it justice.

Has Joe hit his ceiling? No but he did run into a wall last night, lets just hope this is a thin wall!

I knew it from day 1. Nothing about this guy says "I am a winner", nothing about this guy is inspiring. Seriously put 2 pictures side by side, 1 of ben, 1 of flacco - night and day - thoughness and weakness - winner and big time loser - Leader and spectator - I cannot stand the sight of the Steelers, I luv Ray and Reed to death, but Flacco is a shame, I am embarrassed. Lets not even talk about the offensive line.

Funny but sad thing, I asked my co-workers to watch the game, basically told them if they miss the game, they would miss seeing the greatest team on earth in action. Well...I almost didnt show up for work today.

Walk of shame...

40 career wins dude, he can manage a game pretty good. That's all he needs to do. Just because we passed all over the Rams doesn't mean we need to become a passing team. I think that's were we got the offense messed up.

I don't think Flacco has hit his ceiling, but I also don't think he'll ever be in the same class as Peyton, Brady, or Rodgers. I kind of see Flacco as an Eli Manning clone in the sense that he'll always be just good enough so that people in the front office will never feel comfortable just letting him walk. I think the question people will keep coming back to is, who can the Ravens get that's actually better than Flacco? The Ravens never have the top pick so no Peyton, Sam Bradford, or Andrew Luck. And elite QBs in their prime don't change teams very often a la Brees The only way I see Flacco being supplanted is if he gets injured and the Ravens have the next Brady or Rodgers (elite QBs who kind of just broke out from nowhere) waiting in the wings.

I think the main thing with Flacco is that he's just really, really slow with his reads and throws. This is probably no exaggeration, but by the time Flacco realizes his first option is never going to get open, Rodgers has already scanned the field for his 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th receivers and is BACK to his 1st option, all while being flushed out of the pocket. People think Rodgers has elite talent around him, but Rodgers makes everyone around him better. There's a reason he winds up throwing to like 8 different guys every game.

Are you kidding-did you see the pass Flacco completed to himself-that was 3 stooges funny, yes the whole offensive effort was pathetic-but a couple people stood out from the rest of the crowd and Flacco led that crew. You will be on the "Joe must go" bus before long-that guy is taking us nowhere. The cons outweigh the pros with Flacco and "tick tick tick" it's only a matter of time till everyone sees it!

I agree with most of what you said-true leaders make everyone around them better-I didn't see anyone rallying around Joe. In fact if anything I saw the opposite-guys shaking their heads, Boldin throwing the ball in the air, guys milling around during the two minute drill with Flacco not trying to hurry anybody up. I think he is starting to polarize this team-some guys are obviously getting frustrated.
