Has Joe Hit The Ceiling?

287 posts in this topic

Have we seen the best Joe can do?

Has he hit the ceiling in terms of ability?

If this is the best he can give us,I think it really is time
to look elsewhere.I have been a Flacco defender many times
in this forum but I just cant defend him anymore.

I know the O-line stinks but so does Big Ben's along with other
QB's.

Is it time next year to put out feelers for a replacement?

He's just like Derek Anderson. He is not an NFL QB
I would not go that far ,Anderson was below average.Joe is average.

Aaron Rodgers also struggles from o-line problems. I think it's safe to say that we have seen the best of Flacco.
Sadly I have to agree with you and Flacco's best is just not good enough.Year 4 and
he just cant figure out some of the defenses out there.

Flacco had all of his receivers covered most of the night and when he was flushed out of the pocket there was room to run for decent yardage and HE WOULD NOT DO IT. Joe has shown us in the past that he can run. Maybe by him doing this the defense would have had to make the ajustments. IMO

Look at Phillip Rivers and Drew Brees, under Cam you didn't know who they were. It wasn't until they got out from under Cam that they became elite QB's. I see the same thing happening to Joe. Until Cam is gone or Joe leaves I don't see him getting any better or given any respect.

I know. I think I worded that wrong. I read it after I posted it and contemplated on changing it and just shook my head. I apologize.

Yes, I don't care if he goes out and tears it up against Arizona. He officially lost me lastnight he's been bad before but he has topped out. He's the most "elite" mediocre qb I've ever seen. Go Ravens!

I agree there were several instances he could have run and gotten decent yardage. That may have opened things up a little.

Both of those QBs show progress while Cam was coaching them. Regardless, Cam leavin wasn't the reason they got better. Simply being in the league longer and having better weapons around them helped as well.

Seriously, explaining away all of Joe's issues by saying one man is holding him back is pathetic. You can definitely blame Cam for a things like play-calling and how quickly plays get to Joe, but inconsistent throws, vision and pocket presence are things Joe has to get better at himself.

What in the world was up with Flacco last night where the defender was coming in right in front of him, and yet Flacco was still holding the ball out one handed? I am glad he recovered it, yeah. But what the heck was he thinking? You know damn well Flacco saw him coming. It looked like he was just trying to give him the ball.

He has been making those bone-headed decisions all season long that has made me lose my faith in him as a starting QB.

I used to be a Flacco backer... I backed him all Summer and all last year. However, with the way things transpired last night, I am no longer on that derailed train. I've jumped off before it hits something and crashes. I don't care what he doesn next week, he's too inconsistent for a franchise QB. He doesn't seem to have it mentally or leadership wise. 4th year in the league, you're expected to know how to throw someone open, run the ball when things break down instead of still looking deep for someone, and how to read a zone D. Heck, the Jags played man to man all last night and they still took Joe to the woodshop. Imagine if they were running zone..... thats just a horrific thought.

No more will I back Flacco. Mark my words.

Yeah I was incredulous when I saw it.Those type of decisions you would expect from a 1st year QB.

He has been making those bone-headed decisions his whole career, not just this year. He doesn't have a QB's required game smarts/vision, and with him being in his 4th year, I doubt he ever will. He's adequate at best, below average at worst.

Exactly...took the words right out of my mouth. Tell me what Bum Roethlisberger has that Joe doesn't? O-line troubles? Check. Speedy receiver? Check. Top tier back (debatable) but CHECK. Prototype physical tools? Check....so what's missing? HEART and DESIRE. Ben would have been fired up about slow play calls coming in during a two minute drill.

Me neither, but some people could take it the wrong way and think he's somehow lumping Rodgers into Flacco's category. If we had Rodgers, we would be the best team in the league, possibly even the best team since the 2000 era..... oh, the grass is always greener on the other side..... dang...

I agree with this. I was just willing to give him a chance through those first 3 seasons. This season the frustration has started to build.

One would think he'd also be trying to rally his offense back up after a miserable first half as well.... heck, he'd be showing signs of anger after an INT.. but alas, Joe just stands there on the sideline looking like a deer lost in the headlights. Thats not a leader, something that a QB should always be good at.

I completely disagree because thanks to Cam for destroying that...........

Flacco looks brilliant one game and retarded during others. What gives with this? Despite the inconsistent play, I still lay most of the blame for the lost games this season (and last year) on the play calling. When I can guess what the offensive play will be most of the time, so can the opposing defense. That's bad news since I've only played football on a TV screen, lol.

Oh, when I said "struggled" I made it seem like Rodgers also has problems with a bad o-line, when we all know that is not the case. I thought that's what you were getting at and hence why I apologized, ha ha.
