MERGED: 8 Carries and the Suggs Reaction

This loss is on Cam Cameron. If you're quarterback is struggling, run the ball. If you have one of the best running backs in the NFL, run the ball. If you're facing one of the worst run defenses in the NFL, run the ball. If you're losing the TOP battle, run the ball. If you're only down 6 at the half, run the ball. Ray Rice has 8 carries, 8. I've written it 4 or 5 times already, and I still can't believe it. This right here more than anything, cost us the division. Bench Flacco, put Tyrod in, hey, put Jeff Goerge in, but run the football. That's how we got to an AFC Championship game, by running the football.

when they have 8 or 9 in the box on every play its hard for a team to run

Jones-Drew did it. You have to try. Our offense was so one-dimensional today, every time I saw Rice running the ball I thought it was a mirage.

This drove me absolutely crazy. Was reading this earlier today--
The Jaguars are allowing 3.09 yards a carry between the tackles, the sixth-lowest average in the league. That’s a good indicator of the effectiveness of Knighton and Alualu. The run average number against the Jaguars jumps to 4.02 to the left and 5.58 to the right.
Last week the Ravens closed out the Texans with lots of runs to the right with Marshall Yanda and Micheal Oher who are a great run blocking duo. But for some reason they kept trying to run up the middle, then to the left with McKinnie and Gurode who are below average. I figured when I read those stats that the Ravens would use jumbo packages and just physically abuse the Jags with runs to the right. But of course...

I agree with the OP.

I get what you are saying but running the ball is not all about yards (even tho 8 and 9 in the box can become a big run play if its perfectly blocked on one of those plays) .... But running the ball keeps the Defense honest... You can still catch a team slipping with a play action fake with the threat of a running game

Pretty sure Cam's motto has always been "If it isn't working, keep doing it."

This.

I turned the game off just before half time as I was at work during the the game. I didn't realize Rice on had 8 carries. That's pure insanity I tell ya. I was so frustrated by the lack of production that I turned the game off and hope for a turn around after the half.....Truly disappointed. What exactly was the gameplan? if there was one......

is Jeff George Available? LOL

NFL Network just aired Suggs in the locker room interiew saying....

"I don't really know what the game plan was but when i have a pro bowl running back and i see that he is not getting his touches, i'm going to feel a certain type of way about it. He wants the ball and i think that we should feed him! Ray Rice is a phenominal player and you gotta use your phenominal players. I gotta question how many catches Q had. We got guys on this team that can do some great things. We gotta use those guys....it's that simple!"

speak truth T-Sizzle!

i feel the same way bruh!

He has. Right to be pissed off... It's inexcusable for rice to be on sideline....
Seemed like some stubborn mike Martz gameplan to run as little as possible and watch ur QB play horrible while being pushing around

It's true. And going for the onside kick was a bad idea too. Kick it away, get the stop, then get in field goal range. That would've been enough for the win.

Ray Rice made mistakes no doubt, but to bench your playmaker and leader on MNF isn't going to help correct it. Let him get loose and make up for it with big plays. Inexcusable by the coaching.

Wouldn't u be mad if u were on ESPN earlier in the week talking a bunch of trash talking about other teams Qb's and coaches and then your team shows up and plays like this...

Felt like it was mike Martz called game.....
Why does the offense always look confused as if they don't even know a playbook. Even our hurry up offense is odd. Lol it's quite sad...

Rice was getting nothing on the runs he did get. I don't think we would have won getting 3.7 YPC. I think this reinforces my point that Ray Rice is not the elite back that some people here are making him out to be.
