Love that Brooks is getting honored with a statue of his likeness. About time right? Great Orioles player and even better guy.

Now for the bad news. I'm really disappointed in Peter Angelos and the Orioles for having nothing to do with this event. Angelos didn't donate any money toward the cause and the statue isn't even on Camden Yards property. I'm not certain on this next point but I am pretty sure that no current Orioles or front office people even attended the event. If all this distance from the Orioles organization is true....very disappointing.

According to the article.. the Orioles are planning something official for the future however.

"The Orioles are expected to announce plans for a special tribute for Robinson and the rest of the team's Baseball Hall of Fame members -- Frank Robinson, Earl Weaver, Eddie Murray, Jim Palmer and Cal Ripken Jr. -- to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Camden Yards in 2012."

Angelos, he really has mistreated MOST of the GREAT Orioles from the past. He's not in touch with the City of Baltimore...not one bit. I'm glad Brooks got to see this! I was worried for awhile if we were going to loose him. I hope he hangs around a good bit longer!

Y'all can come visit the Brooks statue here in York. Yup, we gave him a statue back in '07-ish.

Really sad that this man no longer cares about whether his team does good or bad. If you dont care anymore, sell the damn team to someone that wants to rebuild our team to excellence
