Quick Question About Evans?

71 posts in this topic

Was Evans signed to a 1 or 2 yr contract. If its 1 then i doubt he will be resigned, simply for the Fact that we have so much talent and depth at the WR position.

Hopefully my boy Laq. Williams will get some Balls thrown to him that are actually catchable , he only had one thrown that was behind him and no one would have caught that. I said it before and ill say it again. He is my favorite Player on the RAVENS offense. If he gets thrown to with a pass that is remotely catchable , he will catch it. I think he is very underrated. Williams has the IT factor and im sure everyone will realize it sooner or later. Its just Flacco and Williams have to get on the Same page.

Oh also A. Allen has the IT factor too. He just needs to get some Reps, not just 1 or 2 carries at the end of the Game. Imo he should be our Number 2 RB.

He was traded, so he's playing on whatever contract he had with the Bills. I'm not sure what it is.

If he gets healthy and produces we'll probably resign though. Just my thoughts on it.

Not sure why you think so highly of Laquan Williams. He's shown flashes of potential but nothing extraordinary so far.

Seriously doubt we just release him, we would at least try to trade him. Although I am not sure how much his trade value is.

Lee Evans is signed through next season. He's due 3.275 million dollars with a cap hit of 4.775

High hopes for an undrafted player. I wouldn't hold your breath on him being anything more than a #5 guy.

Oh well that great news, dont get me wrong. Im a Lee Evans fan, i was just wondering.

I think ill Hold my breath starting NOW, lol. Its just my opinion and i just see something in him. Im a fool for not putting him in my JETS montage , maybe no one remembers but he caught a Laser pass (Kyle Boller style) to Laq. Williams for i think 12 or 13 yds for a 1st down.

I know he flopped a Punt return kick but hey who hasnt and im not holding it against him.

I wouldn't go as far as that. LaQuan is still a rookie trying to prove he fits in the NFL. Ray Rice is my personal favorite and I'm sure at least 80% of this board will agree. I hope LaQuan do great things as much as you do, but I can't see him doing it now.

Quan does have serious game so I respect that. Plays like a man possesed, ALWAY busy on the field.

to be honest...i don't even think about Lee or factor him into the Ravens offensive gameplay at this point. it is what it is! we have "young" talented WRs and two nice TEs that just need the opportunity to shine. let's focus on them and stop worrying about Lee Evans at the moment. let's talk about Lee when he is "actually" on the field making a contribution. until he does that....shhhhhhh!

We don't have much talent at the WR position though. Am i the only one to realize this?

We have tons of talent now. Doss is supposedly a Boldin replica and Torrey Smith has blazing speed that opens up the inside for Boldin and the TEs. Reed and LaQuan aren't slouches themselves. The talent is there, but it hasn't come to fruition yet. They're a young bunch and will get better with time.

Doss doesn't have a career reception and a rookie
Torrey is a rookie that's showed a lot of potential but still raw
Reed doesn't have a career reception and will probably never see action at WR
Q2 is an undrafted rookie that's shown potential

What? Boldin is Boldin. Torrey is playing exceedingly well. Doss is a strong prospect. Williams has shown flashes of potential.

Were stacked at receiver when you throw Lee in.

I'm not saying they're superstars right now, and they may never be, but they have all of the talent in the world to become great. No one expects that in their rookie year

Three of these guys are rookies, Reed is a second year WR. They arent going to be the Packers WR corps right off the bat. Torrey has tons of potential and great speed. Doss has great hands and size. LaQuan is a solid WR with potential. Reed is very good kick returner, and he could become a very good slot WR. There is definitely talent in our WR corps, even if the production does not yet reflect it.

this exactly.. I dont even really think about lee.. I fully know what he is capable of but in future tense i dont even really factor him in...
So when he does get healthy then it will just sweetness ha

and some serioua hate on laquan.. My man is doing work.. Already our #3 receiver right now. A key piece of our special teams and great for our run game... Not too bad for where he got drafted.. Oh yea bout that!

Agreed. Lee was brought in because torrey didnt appear ready in preseason. Torrey's emergence means lee isnt as high a commodity as previously viewed. Not writing him off but more concern with how we use the healthy guys and how they develop

I agree that we will neither release, nor trade Evans. Buffalo signed him to a long-term contract in 2008. According to http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/26/lee-evans, on 10/2/2008, Evans signed a four-year, $37.25 million contract extension through 2012. The deal contains $18.25 million guaranteed, including a first-year salary of $11,730,770 and a $3 million roster bonus in year three. Another $3 million is available through incentives. 2011-2012: $3.275 million (+ $1.5 million roster bonuses), 2013: Free Agent. So technically, Evans is a 1 year acquisition. Personally, I would still look for a tall and fast receiver via FA, draft, or trade to replace him at the end of the season. The recent injury history is not promising when you consider re-signing him to an extension or new contract. This is compounded by the need to sign Rice, Flacco, and Grubbs to a new deal.

I firmly believe Evans has a chronic ankle injury
And the Bills knew it . Ozzie thought he would take a chance ( a chance I would have taken too)
and it didn't work out .

I think Evans is heading for the IR . I hope it's not the case but a decision will have to be made over the next few weeks .

Evans has been talking the way Foxworth did prior to his placement on IR.

What did he say ? oh I hope to come back sometime this season .

I give the odds less than 50-50 he plays another down this season.

Torrey Smith really needs to step up his game if he doesn't want to be benched once Evans comes back. We all know his potential.

I'll say the Pittsburgh game as we'll hopefully be 6-1. Don't need to have him out there right now since we're winning and having flashes of brilliance with Torrey. But had we been struggling and/or had a 3-2 record, you can bet anything he would've been playing already.
