lol so if we don't finish in dead last you will be surprised? :)
Honestly yes. I'll be pleased if we don't finish last. We have done literally nothing to this point besides sign washed up minor or major leaguers, and Asian pitchers who have never pitched in a league like the MLB. unless they do something within the next two weeks, we are destined for the cellar.

Sadly, the O's NEED a few more years of loosing seasons..I mean , this is the only way we MAY aquire talent.. The DRAFT.... No free agent wants to come to Baltimore, this is obvious! It's a sad state of affairs, we used to be such a classly organization, that has all been flushed down the toilet.. Thanks PETE.

I won't go that far. But what have you seen that makes you NOT feel this way? We've watched the Tigers, who were the worst franchise in years, pass over us and become great. The Nationals are improving and will probably attract even more of our fans to their side. This organization isn't improving at all. None of our draft picks pan out, which I'm hoping changes with our current and future players such as Matusz, Wieters, Britton, Hobgood, Bundy, Machado, etc. The farm system is dried up. I'm being the ultimate pessimist here, but just nothing they do is convincing me we are on the winning path.

All I can say is that I really hope that this year is not as embarrassing as the last few.....Sadly, it seems like it will be..
We start off every year so promising. And I feel like maybe I was wrong. And then the bottom falls out and it's back to normal. If any team will be worse than us this year, it will be the A's.

Yup, Buster Olney even thinks they could be competing for a wild card spot this year. That's disappointing.

That gives me a glimmer of hope! A worse team than us!

I want NOTHING to do with Manny, he may be the slimiest player in the game.... So, sounds like Pete's kind of guy... I'm tired of the Old steroid heads.. That's not what we need here...

This. And isn't the guy suspended for the first 50 games of the season or something?..

I don't know. I guess I'm just a sucker for punishment but I'm always excited for Orioles baseball. Wish for the best but prepare for the worst. Until the day comes where I can expect a winning season out of them, I find my enjoyment from watching players develop. The Orioles have no shortage of players that need to prove their worth, especially when it comes to pitching. This kind of stuff keeps me interested all season long.

A lot of us will "bash" the Orioles at times (myself included) for things they do or don't do but that's also all part of being a passionate fan. If we didn't care about the Orioles, we wouldn't care so much about these kind of things. There is still a lot of passion for the O's across Maryland.

I know it can be difficult to be an Orioles fan at times but if you really love baseball, stick with them. The day will come when they get things turned around and are on the rise. As a fan, there will be a lot of personal satisfaction when this happens and none for the bandwagon fans that show up after the fact.

Go O's!

Atleast the A's have pitching. Our Farm system is so bad I dont know why Peter hates us so bad.
I wish I could look foward to watching the O's this season, Atleast we great commentary to help us through all this. I miss Mike though.

I was at the DC auto show today... Don't care if they suck, I always make it a point to wear O's or Ravens when in DC... There actually is a lot of O's love in the Nations Capital...

Orioles trade Guthrie for Jason Hammel and Matt Lindstrom

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/02/rockies-to-acquire-guthrie-for-hammel-lindstrom.html

This trade doesnt make much sense. I think we could of got a decent prospect for Guthrie or we should of waitied till July when contenders are desperate for starters and could of gotten more than hes worth. Guess we will have to wait and see how these two play for the O's.

I feel the same way. Maybe this will lead to DD trading for a ace like Floyd or Jurrjens, but i wont hold my breath...

He had an arbitration hearing already set.... He would have gotten something like probably 8 million dollars.... They get 2 pitchers for the price of one Gutherie.

If they win a few more games than last year it will be a successful season....Maybe in their eyes.

Ohh man I loved Guthrie. He was a much better pitcher than his numbers showed during his stay in Bmore (the run support he got was atrocious) and he was an even better person.
Then again, it was inevitable.

I think the common belief is they didn't want to pay Guthrie 8m...so why pay two guys who have done nothing, ever, 8m? No sense.

Not surprised. It really doesnt matter though, PA just hates us.
The only reason Im pissed about this trade is because it proves that.
Its not like this affects us any.

*shakes head* Is there a word or phrase we can use to indicate we want Angelos gone? I'm ready to cover the patches on my O's jersey with "FIRE ANGELOS" but that doesn't quite make sense since you can't really fire an owner.

I know it will be hard to do but until he's gone we need to stop buying tickets, jerseys and watching the games. All of the money goes to him and he deserves none of it for ruining one of the greatest MLB franchises ever.
