Same story different year.. We are interested in everyone but get no one

If the O's sign big names that means Angelos profit margin is down and it all about the club being profitable and nothing else.

Orioles traded for LHP Dana Eveland from the Dodgers.

Nothing exciting...

I can't watch this team. Haven't since they let Moose get away because "market value be damned, I'm Peter Angelos and if I want to be cheap I will be." Maybe if they put in a salary cap and teams become more balanced again, I'd go back to watching baseball.

Ehh, it seems most of the moves happen after the winter meetings. At least....thats what I'm telling myself.

We really are dealing with a double edged sword.

Side one: We can't sign Top tier free agents while being a perennial loser ( unless you grossly overpay)
Side two: We can't get over the hump with our poor farm system and lack of spending for other MLB quality free agents.

Either Pete needs to spend money and speed up the process or actually have the staff on hand to build this thing from the ground up...
How many years have we sqaundered these top 10 or better pics? This has to change . we CAN NOT keep failing on prospects and development. The thing thats scary is to think if we're actually making all of these "bad picks" or are we ruining promising talent with horrible coaching and poor decision making?

Think about it... Most of the guys we've drafted havent been a reach ( from other teams talent evals and ours)... Meaning, if we're sitting at number 4...and we don't take our guy.. The team picking at 5 probably WILL take our guy too. If thats what's happening, we're failiing our players. It's not like we're drafting obscure players that dont warrant the pick..

A journeyman who made four appearances for the Dodgers...I guess the O's are set for opening day.

Why dont we step the hell up and make a 200m bid on Prince??

I mean, we have a HR friendly park
The sad part is Angelos has the bank to do it. If we could get the Yard filled to 50~60 percent every game , we could get some momentum.

I was coming into this thread hoping that you'd have to deliver some breaking news on an O's acquisition or something which would explain such an epic bump! You ruined it for me!! *grumble*

I'm about ready to cover my Orioles patches on my jersey with "FIRE ANGELOS" stickers, even if I have to make my own.

Pretty cool story on the guy who designed the clock and seat logos at Camden Yards. Link

FanFest, anyone going?
Nope, not after last year, when they integrated that dumb "autograph voucher" stuff. Don't get me wrong, it goes to a good cause, but growing up, the only price I had to pay was the ticket to get in. I think then, more people could get in line for that player/coach to get an autograph. Now theres a limit for each session, that you pay for. So yeah lol.

The Orioles have signed another international prospect. This one is a bit more interesting on many levels. He is 17 years old and is from New Zealand. He was originally a softball player and the Orioles have signed him to a 7 year minor league deal. Oh his name is Pita Rona.

6'5" 175lbs and he is expected to start out in a developmental academy in Australia as a third baseman.

He looks like a softball player... AHAHAHAH. Maybe they're lowering the scoreboard to entice him to choose a new kingdom.

Ha! Depends on what other teams were in the league. The O's would still probably be outspent and not get the talent needed.

I say make Jim johnson a start her his wicked stuff and would do very well.
I disagree. With his arm problems he's had, I believe he's better coming out the bullpen.

he still deserves a CHANCE to start I mean you have seen our track record with starting pitchers you so why wouldnt you take a chance on him instead of hoping to get a gem from the system or fa

Because he is far to valuable to the bullpen to risk one more big injury to. Plus, we just signed a Japanese player to take over our 5th starter roll.

It's amazing to me how the Orioles expect us fans to continue to shell out our hard-earned money to come and watch this garbage when they're unwilling to spend and do what it takes to put a winning product on the field. What's happened to all of that MASN money???

Angelos stuffed a new mattress with it :P

I'm still avoiding going to games until they remove the walk-up fee. That's just punishing those who are spontaneous about going to see a game.

Yeah, that's the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in that regard... what a joke this franchise has become.

In other news, Prince Fielder finally signed a deal: 9 years/$214M with the Tigers.
