When We Sweep Em?

40 posts in this topic

Telling from the responses to Suggs on First Take I realized many people happen to watch the show. Kordell shows love to he Ravens or more so where he ranks us puts us in a position I feel the team has earned. Skip on the other repeatedly places us from 3-4 (in the afc) and ALWAYS behind the Steelers saying he doesn't trust us(aren't rankings based on this season). I have thought from the before the season started we would sweep the Steelers. From the first game we were told we can't beat Pitt and we blow em out and its called a fluke or the Steelers weren't ready or it was our sb. So my question is what do you think the excuse will be when we sweep and hopefully knock em out the playoffs?

If they make it to the playoffs ;) they always have some dumb excuse, but judging by how close they've been playing teams with losing records if they make it to the playoffs my guess is they wont go far.

The excuses will be the same as it is now.... BEAT THEM WHEN IT MATTERS. The playoffs.

Obviously... the Steelers have to make the playoffs for that to happen. The Ravens also have to make the playoffs, as nothing has been locked up yet.

Honestly, I don't really mind if the Ravens don't go through the Steelers to get to the Super Bowl. All that matters is getting a ring for Ed Reed!

IF we sweep them, it would be outstanding! Though, Pittsbugh will still probably make it to the playoffs... we both have a relatively EASY schedule.

I don't know. There is a lot of contention for those two wildcard spots. I am, of course, assuming we win the division.

The interesting thing is that when we win the Superbowl this year and Pittsburgh was not in the playoffs that would be a "tainted" Superbowl win in many experts eyes because we didn't "beat" the Steelers when it matters but the reality is we would still have won the Superbowl. It just like people say a superbowl win is just that but when you beat the likes of Brady, BB, Manning(when healthy) and so forth it looks more worthy and that's how it always will be regardless of if the Steelers are in the playoffs or not I can just hear the excuses now from the NFL Experts and skip bayliss.

IF we win the Super Bowl I could care less about what anybody would have to say. There is no such thing as a 'tainted' Super Bowl Trophy that gets put in the trophy case.

Oh I know Im just saying that everyone will make an excuse of why we won which would be because we didnt play the steelers. But like everyone says a win is a win.

I'd pick the 3 second place teams in the other AFC divisions to beat out the Steelers for those wild card spots right now. The Steelers are going to have to make substantial changes if they want to even make the playoffs at this point. They're likely going to be competing with the Titans, the Raiders, and the Bills....and I just don't see that happening right now.

I kind of hope we do meet them in the playoffs. Could you imagine a divisional rematch at the Bank? If you thought week 1 was loud...

First we got to beat them lol. Im not entirely sold that the Steelers are done even though theyre not playing like they usually do. Plus theyre right behind us in the division. For some reason theyre run D isnt as good and theyre passing D is great. They got a banged up o-line and are not consistent on offense. But Ravens on the road at Pittsburgh, non of that matters

I don't know how they'd be able to say that if we beat them during the regular season. To take the Division we have to "beat the Steelers when it matters". End of story.

They'll use the excuse that the Steelers were banged up, just like Skip was using against Rodgers and his dominance against them in the Super Bowl

The Pack was more banged up then the Steelers were.

Yessir... but thats not what Skip Bayless would've told you. He said that Rodgers got lucky because they were banged up in the Super Bowl and he took advantage of that. However, he fails to acknowledge Finley, Grant, and even Driver were banged up and out of the game. People like him are the ones who will never admit/accept the fact that we are better than the Steelers, and likely never will.

The segment I'm referencing here is the one when T-Sizzle went up against Bayless, and Bayless brought on Whines Ward. This happened yesterday????

Sorry, I should have made things more clear. I'm aware of that, I just think he's ridiculous. If I was Suggs I probably would have had a few choice words for him.

I want to sweep the division, not just the Sqeelers.
So do I but Browns and Bengals we are suppose to win. So if we win were expected to but lose and we choked. The only realistic loss I see in the future is maybe the Chargers cause they usually get better as through season progresses. I expect us to beat the Steelers again though not by as many points but another dominating win. I'll say 13 but the score wont indicate the beating we put on em.

Ed Reed has to get a ring. I cant stress this enough.
I feel that if Ed got his ring all the arguments for Troy being better than him would go out the window. It seems like the ONLY thing that hairball has on him is the hardware. Nobody has really mentioned it, but Ward in that segment made an underhanded comment about Troy being the best safety of this era...

Nobody is talking about it but I'm getting a feeling that the San Fran game is going to be huge. Those boys are going to play ridiculously hard for Jim. On paper we are the better team, and I still feel like we are going to leave the game with a W, but I'm starting to see it as one of our toughest games this season.

Just cuz Troy has 2 rings doesn't make him better...Troy didn't win all those games himself to get to any of the superbowls nor did he play alone in them...football is the ultimate team sport so the rings have nothing to do with it!! Ed is better just ask Deion sanders Warren sapp Charles woodson Terrell Owens Darren sharper n many more

I am so sick of hearing about the Steelers. Every where I look, there is always something about the Steelers.

When they were beating teams 34 to 16 and 33 to 17 at the END of the pre-season they were in mid-season form.

When they lose games in the season now or struggle against teams that fail to fill their stadium with even half a crowd, there's some damn excuse to back them up.

Who gives a flying crap. There's 31 other teams in the league that play the game too. There's 31 other teams who buckle up their chin strap as well. Got an injury? Then next man up, damn it!

I am glad they got their hiney kicked in the Super Bowl last season. I am glad the Ravens kicked their hiney in week 1 and I sure as hell hope they kick their hiney in week 9 as well, so people can continue to pour out excuses about why they're losing and not just man up and say the simple words of, "They lost."

I could live with that. Another thing with the Chargers is we play them there. makes it a bit harder for us.

What do the Ravens do best? SHUT DOWN THE RUN. Force Alex Smith to win a game against with a then healthy secondary and see what ensues. Harbaugh will have us playing 1 cause he doesn't want to lose to his brother 2 we have a better team 3 Ray will want to shut up the who's the best lb talk. I'll even say we lose. It's an NFC game and say we lose to the Chargers. 13-3 after we sweep our division. The Steelers WILL LOSE to the Pats. All our team has to do is handle their business and we could move to a franchise best 15-1 or 14-2. When Jimmy is back we can keep Reed on Cary's side and I feel Jimmy will be left alone more because of his physical play. The less people we need to have in coverage means the more pressure on the qb.

I will never understand "why the media personalities or analysts constantly say the Steelers own the Ravens" the fact is that yes 2 of the last 3 years if the Steelers hadn't beat us in the Playoffs we go to Superbowl instead of them... But those games weren't blowouts or contests the Ravens have been physically dominated in, the records are identical against one another over a period 6 or 7 seasons..

This is something I hear at work etc... I'm like this sometimes these games vs Steelers play-out exactly like the old Patriots vs Colts games in early 2000s when Peyton Manning could never get over the hump... Didn't matter if the Colts came out blazing some how some way the lead would get blown... Well eventually Manning did win and he has been owning the Patriots since then.....
Also like how the 49ers couldn't beat Cowboys until they signed Deion Sanders in 94-95.

The Ravens have hit roadblocks with the Steelers, but we will get them and once we do they won't know how to bounce back from that adversity.....

To me, the argument that we need to beat the Steelers in the playoffs for a Super Bowl victory to be "real" is ludicrous. If the Steelers aren't good enough to make the playoffs or aren't good enough to get to a point when they would play us then that's their fault, and them not making the playoffs is a legitimate possibility. Assuming that we win the division, which isn't something I want to do really, but we are in the lead now, and the Patriots win theirs then the two top spots are probably gone. The Chargers appear to have a handle on the AFC West, and the AFC South is a toss up between the Titans and the Texans. We'll know who has the edge in the South after this week. This means that the Steelers are competing for one of two wild card spots with the Bills, Raiders, Texans/Titans, and our good friends the Bengals, who have put together a surprising 4-2 record. If the Bengals end up being for real then that's a dangerous development because it reduces the number of division games that are gimmes for the Steelers (and us, too) and hurts in tie breakers.

It's something we haven't mentioned yet, but when an analyst says "the Ravens need to beat the Steelers when it counts" they mean Joe Flacco needs to do so. We all know that. But ten or twenty years after the win people really only remember which team you beat in the last game of the season.

I agree that taking down the Steelers in the playoffs would be amazing. But I'm much more interested in beating an NFC team in the postseason.
