Anyone Else Not Sold On Bengals?

I know they're an up and coming team, but they're so overrated.

Lets see who they've beat

Cle (2-3)
Denver (1-4)
Buff (4-2)
Jax (1-5)
Ind (0-6)

Kinda like the 2010 Buccs

They look like a middle of the pack team to me

"Any given Sunday" aside, I am not too afraid of them either. I was reading their boards for kicks and many of their fans have them sweeping us and the Steelers. Ha.

I dont think they are "overrated" because I havent heard anyone calling them a top 10 team or anything like that. They have had a soft schedule and taken advantage of it so Kudos to them. Their defense is still very solid and they have some quality playmakers on offense with AJ Green, Gresham, and Simpson. Dalton has played well, but he hasnt gone against a good defense yet so time will tell. I think they win 7-8 games this year though.

Well they lost to the Broncos. But honestly, look at who the Steelers have beaten.

Seahawks (2-3)
Colts (0-6)
Titans (3-2)
Jaguars (1-5)

Not really an edge there. I'm not just going to crown Pit ahead of them because they're Pit and Cincy is Cincy.

I agree. They really haven't beaten anyone great. The Bills are their only good win. And none of those teams they have played have a good defense.

There is always that nagging "but they're the Bengals" in the back of your mind but can't argue with 4-2. Of course, the 2007 Ravens started 4-2, as well...

Buffalo's D is pretty good actually. They have 12 INT and 4 INT TD and have stopped some great offenses (NE, NYG).

No? when is the last time Flacco didn't throw multiple picks against their defense? I hope Joe has evolved to beat their scheme

Calling them pretty good is a bit of a stretch. Opportunistic? Certainly. But they still give up tons of yardage to opposing offenses. In fact, they rank 31st in the league in yards allowed per game & are 9th worst in scoring defense. The Giants atoned for over 400 yards of offense with 3 TDs and no turnovers, so I can't agree that they stopped the Giants, especially since they gave up the drive for the game-winning FG.

Not to mention the Pats had 495 yards of total offense....they weren't "stopped", Bills just happened to score a few more points.

On topic - Bengals have shown little in regards to strength of schedule thus far!

I wouldn't say overrated. They're not in anyone's top ten, and there's probably not another 4-2 team getting less respect. They're fans are funny. They suck for years then the very moment they have a winning record they start mouthing off like they're the best team in the division. They always do that. I think they do have a good well coached defense, and some talent on offense. They're not on our level but for some reason they always give us trouble, their defense particularly. Hopefully that ends this year, I'm not threatened by their rookie QB at all though.

The Bengals have the best ranked defense, but their offense is far from perfect. Dalton leaves a lot to be desired, Simpson and Gresham are mediocre and Green isn't that much better. Benson has that suspension looming over his head, too.

Just a little pet peeve of mine, but based on points allowed (what should behave the REAL measuring stick for a defense), we are #1 :)

We also have more INT TD than any other D!

If you guys are going to dog on Cincy for lack of quality wins, dog on the Steelers too. Sure, Pit has blown teams out while Cincy hasn't, but the Bengals haven't been blown out like Pit has . But none of that matters, a wins a win. All I'm saying is that I don't see how we as Ravens fans are just disregarding them after six weeks.

Considering that AJ Green is on pace for over 1,200 yards and 10 TDs, especially given that only 3 rookie WRs have crossed the century mark since 2000, I'd be hard pressed to say that he's not much above average.

This.
Green has been a beast all season long for a rookie and by far the most reliable target Dalton has in his possession..not sure what you have been watching..

As for the Bengals as a whole, they have definitely been favored by the schedule but props to them for beating the teams they're supposed to beat. To tell you the truth, I predicted the Bengals to find themselves at the bottom 5 of the league standings by the end of the season but with the quick development of Dalton and their young and promising D such a scenario seems highly unlikely at this point.

Before the opening game the naysayers were asking when the last time that Flacco had beaten the Steelers with Ben at the helm.

Even if I'm not sold on the Bengals, I definitely will not count them out on Sunday. Divisional games are always tough and Flacco has been known to struggle against that defense at times. I see us sweeping them though, not in an arrogant way, but I think were the better team overall. I too think theyre flying under the radar at 4-2.

Not to mention, the Squealers squeaked out a win against both the Colts and Jags. Jags almost came back to beat them, and the Colts only lost by 3 with Painter who had to go in on a bang for Collins. I swear, they have the same problems we did last year (with the exception of a fast recieving corps). Sucky O-Line, run game suffering due to that, defense looks tired and old, and they go too conservative in the second half (namely, the 4th quarter) and they almost lose games as a result. We've flipped spots with them it seems lol

They can give the Ravens problems on occasions but give their 4-2 record it's due and just go out there and give them a week one style beating.

Agreed. I knew the guy had elite talent but he's transitioned to the NFL almost seamlessly.

They did beat the bills so it isn't like they've beaten up on all cupcakes. I'd reserve judgement on them until they play the steelers. that will be a true gauge on them since the afc north is going to send 2 teams to the playoffs in all likelihood. I don't look past them as a ravens fan seeing as they are a division rival and always play us tough. They have a good defense again this year even after losing Joseph.

I've been astounded by the number of Elite prospects that have come in and done exceptionally well from day 1 this year.

I don't think they're QUITE as good as their 4-2 record suggests (I think they finish the year around .500) but they're young and only going to get better. With a pair of first rounders this year and, maybe, 2 firsts next year they could be very, very scary.

On pace for 1200 yd is quite different than actually having 1200 yd. He should get shut down by the and Steelers' Ds.
