The conditional first is dependent on them winning a playoff game with Palmer
Is that the only condition?

Well, if the Raiders continue to play well and win a playoff game, their draft pick will be relatively low in the 1st Round, so it's not that big of a deal.

Since the Raiders lost Nnamdi, maybe they want to trade their remaining picks in the 2012 Draft & a conditional 2013 2nd to us for McCann.

As someone else said, Al Davis' principles still appear to be the procedures for management.

I hope the Raiders barely miss the playoffs so the Bengals get screwed.

1st and a 1st or a 1st and a second does not = Bengals getting screwed :) but I knew what you meant

So they get a first and a second if they dont win a post season game this year?
Thats what I've read/heard. So, worst care scenario, they get a 1st (2012) and a 2nd (2013)

That's an absolute steal for the Bungles.

Can anyone think of any bigger steals in NFL trade history?

I suppose if Carson Palmer plays like Tom Brady and they win a couple of playoff games it won't be that big of a steal. If the Raiders host the Bengals in the playoffs, that would be fun to watch :)

I'm excited for the Raiders with the Carson Palmer acquisition. They gave up way too much for him with those 2 - 1st round picks though.
Brown wouldn't have remotely considered the trade he said would never happen without first round picks dangled in his face.

The condition is Oakland has to make the THIRD round of the playoffs. Not just makes the playoffs, but the third round. Just wanted to clear that up.

Mike Brown actually did something smart, whether by accident or not. He could have got rid of him for a 2nd or a 3rd at the beginning of the season, but through pure stubbornness he ended up with a 1st and a 2nd rounder in 2013 that could become a 1st rounder. Now we might get a fight for the division from the Bungles in a couple of years.

Wait, when does Jason Campbell's contract expire? This has to tell me Palmer is going to be the starter next season and not Campbell. So now instead of Campbell being the bridge to Pryor now Carson Palmer will be the bridge to the Terrell Pryor Era in Oakland.

it will be crazy to see 2 first rounders drafted by them in the next 2 years. they are going to have a pretty mean squad with access to 4 players with 1st Rd levels of talent

I thought I saw somewhere that Carson Palmer just had surgery and was unlikely to get signed anywhere this year. Was that somebody else?

And with the new CBA, it wont mean they are out of money with that many firsts. This trade is going affect us indirectly in a major way!

precisely! with the way them and the raiders are playing, they could possibly be drafting in back to back positions in the middle of the first

Not really..not with the new rookie caps....but as u stated the Bengals have something going here with Dalton and Green and they're sporting a top 2 defense which has always given Flacco problems..add in 4 first round picks in the next 2 years and they can make a huge splash
the rookie cap STILL counts against the salary cap.

Mock Drafts just got a little interesting.

So How many years does Palmer play before Pryor takes over?

The Raiders are looking for short term success and are killing their long run future with no draft picks in the first four rounds next year. I like what Hue Jackson has created in Oakland with a respectable well rounded team, but the draft is where you build your team with talent and most importantly depth. Not a fan of gutting your team by trading a lot of draft picks for one player, it's a team sport.

Yeah, but the Rookie Cap makes them much cheaper.

Maybe the Raiders aren't planning on BEING a franchise in 2012.

They only have 40 mins left to get this done. I know it is unlikely, but this could still not happen. Raiders have to clear a lot of cap space...

It's a done deal, there is no doubt.

I just wish NFL Network would stop reporting it as "Breaking News" when it happened hours ago.

They have $6M in cap...its a quick little shuffle or two and done. Not a lot to do/clear

Palmer is in the Building at Oakland according to NFL Network.

The trade deadline is up and only Palmer, Aaron Curry and Brandon Lloyd were traded.
