Revis: Is He Not Allowed To Be Flagged?

44 posts in this topic

This guy is a great corner, how much of it can be atttributed to a BUNCH of illegal contact? Frank Walker would be proud of the mugging he displays.

Case in point, he just mugged Brandon Marshall to the point of throwing off the route and allowing a gift wrapped pick 6.

It does seem like he gets a pass for being Revis. He had some contact against Torrey and wasn't flagged. That play on Marshall 98% of the other cornerbacks in the league would have gotten flagged for.

That was terrible. The PI was so obvious. I'm just wondering why he didn't challenge it, and aren't they suppose to review when a team scores? smh

Hey, I've got ZERO problem with physical play but he should be held to the same rules. He's fondling people down the field.

I didn't see the play, but you cant challenge a penalty....and even if the score was replayed, 12 men on the field is the only penalty that can be reviewed/look for.

But they did have 12 men on the field. One of them in stripes.

Yea revis held him hard on that endzone play.. Id say marshall did very well against him. Yea revis got two picks but they were piece of cake picks and marshall still ended up with 100 yards playing with matt moore :o

So if Revis "roughs the passer" on Brady, will it get flagged? Kinda like if a tree falls in the forest, does anyone hear it?

Hmmmm...quite the conundrum there. I say offsetting. Wait, what?

You can also review whether or not a ball was tipped in order to negate a pass interference penalty ;-)

Revis has been getting away with contact down the field for the past 3 years, its not going to stop now.

Yeah, just like some WRs get away with push-offs, some CBs get away with contact down the field. It is what it is, and doesn't take away from the great player Revis is.

It is the way it is....but it SHOULDN'T be. I wish we had a level playing field in the NFL or AT LEAST consistent calls.

Agreed. I've also noticed Revis pulling and grabbing WRs going back to '09 but the refs seem blind to it. Great player but he certainly gets away things lesser-known CBs are flagged for.

I'm with you, man. It's true in every sport though: the superstars get the calls and the benefit of the doubt.

I thought I was crazy and seeing things when I saw Revis constantly grabbing handfuls of jersey and playing physical down-field.

I'm surprised Revis didn't pull a knife and steal Marshall's wallet before stabbing him and taking back that pick. Seriously, NO other player would get away with that blatant cheating.

Except Roddy White.

Completely disagree.

Cheating doesn't make you great. He's talented, but he'd quite clearly be a worse player without his own herd of zebras.

A big reason he doesn't get flagged so often could be cause he is always in the receivers hip pocket, it doesn't look bad when 2 guys are side by side hand fighting but if the DB is trailing and tries that the flag comes out most of the time. I wouldn't say it last year but this year he is the best IMO.

You think Revis is the only DB to get away with holding/contact here and there? Gimme a break. It's not "cheating" either. Cheating is taking roids, HGH, spying on the other team, etc.

LOL yea "flagging the Revis" and "roughing the Brady" would be quite a conundrum there indeed. I say they throw the flag but the official gets fined by the commish...

The Jets pulled Revis after he was doing a phone call interview and the host told Revis about how he committed Pass Interference and Revis went right into defense mode, and if you have to go into defense mode the way he did, he knows he committed PI...
Francesa accused Revis of committing pass interference on Revis’ 100-yard interception return for a touchdown on Monday night. It never got friendly as Francesa kept pushing the point and Revis kept telling him that there was no penalty on the play.

“Do you know football or do you know interviewing?” Francesa said he knew both, Revis disagreed and told him “You’re good at interviewing, I’m good at football, let’s leave it at that.” At that point, a member of the Jets PR staff came on the line and told Revis to hang up which Revis did after saying “This is why no one wants to be interviewed by you.”
Hey Roger... you want to fine a player that makes sense..... here we go. $500,000 for committing a penalty and getting away with it and a 2 game suspension should be fit. That should teach Mr. "I'm going to get so defensive and make it so obvious I got away with a Penalty" Island.

Apparently Mike Francesca at WFAN kept pressing him on it and Revis hung up on him. You gotta love New York Sports Talk Radio.
