Anybody Else Notice Torreys 51Yrd Hit Ground?

43 posts in this topic

After looking at it I think it could have gone either way had it been challenged. It was a questionable catch, but not an obvious incompletion. Just could have been a tough call, but their head coach had every right to challenge it, but didn't and those calls are part of the game, so there is no controversy IMO.

I went back and looked at it. Looks more like a catch and fumble caused by the ground. He wasn't diving to the ground to catch it and the ground knocked it loose so it wouldn't be incomplete. He caught it, 3-4 steps, hit by the defender, went to the ground and ball popped loose. If anything, he fumbled and got it back, in my opinion.

I thought they took a little bit too long to get to the line to snap the ball as well.

I never understood why this offense is always so... methodical. Even their 2 minute drills are obscenely slow.

Maybe some of  U people think the Ravens should of lost?????

Why? Cause we're discussing one single play in the game?

The ball's allowed to hit the ground if the receiver had possession. I believe the ball hit the ground several steps after he caught it, but it was always in his possession.
I think Torrey had control regardless, and the ball is allowed to touch the ground so long as the receiver has control of the ball... it would have been too close to overturn anyway.
Remember folks to overturn a call the play has to have conclusive supporting evidence. I don't think the play yielded conclusive evidence to overturn the play. I'm certain that Torrey will make up for that.

As a side note, I'm glad to see his progression is coming along nicely.

Torrey is ballin!!! The game is slowing down for him n he's proving he can run routes n get open intead of goin deep all the time n it's a good mix to where the defender is scared of his speed they play off n that will open up other routes for him n running those other routes correct n catching it will make defenders play closer or watch out for curl routes n slants n crossing routes n a nice double move with his speed opens up a nice 9 route

Torrey had the ball in one hand and dragged it across the ground up to his chest in one smooth motion. It was never really bobbled so I guess they had no reason to call it incomplete.

That was a catch. He caught the ball took a few steps to get up field (which is a football move) then the ball bobbles around, and hits the ground. That's a catch. Good Job Torrey.
