Maybe it only works once if you are dead/dying? Maybe it is latent in every person and just waits for the blood to stop flowing and all of a sudden it takes over.

I think this is the answer. The infection itself doesn't kill you, it just reanimates you. I think being bitten by a zombie, who has a live infection, wakes up the dormant virus in the victim, which causes them to turn. That's how it works in a book series I'm reading (The Newsflesh trilogy by Mira Grant). Everyone has the virus, but it's inactive until either the person dies or comes into contact with active virus.

BTW, the "No more room in Hell" quote is from Dawn of the Dead. I don't think it was ever meant to be an official explanation as to why the dead are rising, it's just something some preacher says on TV. Basically he was blaming everything on the gays and abortionists and sex out of wedlock and since there were so many sinners, Hell was overflowing and Satan was sending the dead back to us.

Meh. That's from the new version of Dawn. In the original it was a story one of the characters fathers told to him as a kid. Voodoo stuff.

Fun fact time? Ok. It's the same actor in both movies!

Never watched it, was gonna get into it but my friend said the show has become horrible. Something about a Lori character needing to get shot in the face lol?

Man, they're killing everybody off this season lol!! I couldn't believe Shane was the latest victim, but it had to be done; he was out of control.

Interesting that people are reanimating after death; that puts a whole new twist on the series! I can't believe there's only one more episode in the season :(

Yep. I think the SWAT officer's name was Peter in the original Dawn of the Dead (My favorite version) who said "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth." And if you ever saw Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead, something similar happens to one of the characters in that. But I won't say who just in case somebody hasn't seen it. That's my favorite zombie film. And yeah the graphic novel was slightly different with Shane's death as well.

Alright. Don't forget to microwave your popcorn and and drop everything you're doing at 9PM tonight. The Walking Dead season two finale. I think we're going to see a preview of a new "home" for our survivors in this episode.

Actually, most people died from that. Remeber the guy that first found Rick? He was talking about how his wife died from the infection / fever. It looks like the survivors are all carriers of the virus; once they die, they become zombies. Happened with both Randle and Shane. As Shane was lying there, I was thinking that Rick should shoot him in the head. lol
Speaking of which, how 'bout Carl's first shot from a gun? A direct head shot. :D

Ah his first shot from a gun in the comic wasn't as accurate. Rick was the one who originally had to put Shane down. I think all the fans should read the comics. If you did, most of you would be asking "Why are they changing so much?!" I think some stuff is good because it keeps those of us who have read the comics guessing. I'm glad they killed Dale off early. His being soft led to his demise. But there are a few changes I don't like.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, purple. That's why you need to read the comics. It's a person from the comic named Michonne. I won't give you much information on her, but we were told that she is played by actress Danai Gurira. She's from the showed Treme I think. I don't know much about her, which is why I love this show. Most of the actors on here aren't well known. And I told you we would get a preview of their new "home" in this episode. It's a prison. I was just spent after this episode. So many big things were revealed and so much carnage.

I'm not reading them because I want zero idea of what to expect. I know there are changes but I want 100% surprise.

Well honestly there have been 2 deaths that have been surprises.

Edit: By the way, there goes the "No more room in hell theory" It's officially everyone being infected. Just doesn't make sense. Even though we don't know how the outbreak started, I'm glad us zombie fans finally received an explanation as to what it actually is. In so many zombie movies, it's not explained. It's just guessing. Even in Night of the Living Dead they were throwing around theories even though it was hinted upon that it was just people dying and coming back to life.

Hmmm. Maybe I will read them over the summer. I'm just starting to read the 30 Days of Night comics on my kindle fire.

What. An. Ending!!!! What's that prison??? I wonder if anyone's still in there??? Rick finally grew a pair and told everyone off. Loved it. Who is that hooded person? Glenn finally professed his love for Maggie. Wow, wow, wow... I can't believe we have to wait until the Fall; that's cruel and unusual punishment!!

That prison is probably full of bad things, lol. Once they get it cleaned out it should serve as good shelter, though.

Hooded person? I want to know more about the armless zombies on leashes!!!

One of my favorite things about this TV series is they continue to bring in little known actors. People who haven't had big roles in film or TV yet other than Daryl and Merle. I thought Michonne was gonna be casted by a terrible actress from True Blood, but they decided against it. I'm anxious to see how Danai Gurira portrays her. They've also casted for another character who could should up in Season 3 as well. I'm one of the happiest people right now. And it's nice that Rick told everyone off, but am I the only one who thinks he picked the worst time to raise his voice. :Twig snaps: "What was that?" And then he decides to go on a rant. Whatever you do, don't go on google and try to look up the prison. My friend did that and he said he read all these people who were being negative about the prison being introduced. I think that's one of the best settings in the comics. And I'll just say there may or may not be some bad things in the prison. I'm buying this season for myself and also for my one friend who was unable to watch it because he's working on his Master's.

Just finished watching the last episode. Loved it. I knew the farm wasn't going to be safe. But one thing I am tired of are these people being totally unprepared. I mean they were on that farm for how long and they did not prepare anything? No armoring of cars, getting supplies ready, making makeshift weapons, nothing.

Loved the introduction of a new character. Loved that Rick finally told the group off. Loved that Glenn manned up and loves Maggie. Even Carl is growing up too! They are headed in the right direction, let's see what happens.

After recently reading the Compendium Vol. 1, I'm surprised by how different the two are. It's actually making me anticipate Season 3 even more! I recommend the comic series to anyone who enjoys the show. I can't wait to get the upcoming Vol. 2!

Yes another character was casted. He will portray the role of The Governor. If you read the comics, he's a sick twisted man....

Yeah I read the book called "Rise of the Governor" Really good read if you've read the comics. And an awesome twist. I really feel like I'm the only person who thought a twig snapping was the wrong signal for Rick to tell everybody off. Seriously, they just fought through an entire army of zombies and he starts going on a Ricktatorship tirade after they hear a twig snap. And you're all comfortable for him choosing that time to "tell everybody off?" Everybody's like "Go Rick for telling everybody off. It's okay if you bring another army of zombies back down on your group."

Ugh, why do I have to wait until fall for Season 3? At least I have Mad Men to tide me over.

Freaking Carl, a part of me just wants to see him get whalloped for wandering off all the time. I was very happy that Michonne showed up and saved Andrea because I was pissed that she got left behind. Andrea is proving she's on the same level as Rick when it comes to survivability.

I can't blame Rick for being mad and finally snapping, even if the timing was off. He's been trying to keep them safe and together and all he gets is [profanity deleted]ing and whining. I'd get tired of it too if people looked to me for leadership but then whined when I was leading.

I get that Lori is probably upset at Shane being dead because she feels guilty for causing it, but come on, she had to have known it was going to happen. She even said to Rick "he's dangerous and he will come after you." However, Lori had better knock off the attitude.
