I Am So Sick And Tired !

28 posts in this topic

I just got up and as usual turned on the NFL Total Access and the Ravens are the topic right away which shocked me. Rod of course says if the O line for pit doesnt show up ben wont get up after the 5th hit the ravens put on him and continues to talk about the text sent to ray rice and rod woodsons counterpart ( cant remember his name ) goes on a rant about how it took a text message to get the ravens Defense fired up for the game against the steelers. Then the go to rookie of the week and when they mention flacco the same guy says "joe who" ? I am so sick and tired of us not getting any decent slack from the media.

Hey, if anything it really shows how well some analysts do their research. Sometimes I wonder if they base their predictions on Madden.

The thing is it is far better to fly under the radar and let everyone assume our o-line is horrible and our defense is old. Satisfaction tastes so much better when the trash talkers are silenced.

Win or lose I like to think my fellow Raven fans are a classy unit :P

Could be worse The Scott Baio look alike at SI.com is calling the Titans the best defense in the NFL.

If you really want to be po'd read the america's game article for the ravens 2000 sb (ag.nfl.com). It also will sound familiar.

We don't get any love because non of these guys watch the game. Otherwise they would know that Flacco is showing something that few rookies do which is poise and patience in the pocket. Plus he has yet to make a mistake that our defense can't cover. As for the Titans being the best defense that is laughable. I mean we only give up 75 less yards than the 2nd ranked defense. ESPN, NFL Network and all these media outlets are rampant with bias and commentators that don't watch games and think they know everything. If you want good information you need to look to Chris Mortenson, John Clayton and Ron Jaworski. They are the best.

Let's just let our team do the talking with there play Monday night. If we win, we can laugh at the analysts and if we lose then just move on. Not much more we can do then that.

I am getting hyped over the game myself. The drama is building and eveytime i turn on the sports channels it gets better. I think the game will be an awesome time for flacco to get his feet wet against the steelers. We need this win since we have no bye weeks at all and can grab a win why we are still fresh legged and hungry.

Yeah, that's pretty annoying, but I'd rather listen to NFL Total Access over Sports center any day. At least the guys on NFL Total Access have pretty much played in the nfl.. so they(for the most part) give better analysis than the pretenders on ESPN.

Can't wait 'till Monday night!!!

yeah i agree with this...... but it would help the analysts gather a reasonable opinion of the ravens if they actually watched the game and not just the highlights and lowlights of the game... a lot of the "analysts" probobly only saw joe throw 2 picks and saw ed reed return a pick for a TD, then they form the opinion of " well, the defense looks like its making a comeback even with their old age, but the young quarter back looks shaky in the pocket" espn doesn't typically show highlights of all 3 of our RB's gaining 4-7 yards almost everytime they touch the ball... regardless there is no sense in complaining, this monday will ONLY show RAVENS fans whether they are the real deal. The analysts will make excuses for the steelers if they lose... something along the lines of " they didn't have their 2 stars parker in the game or ben at 100%" or "even after this loss i still see the steelers winning the division and the ravens rookie QB struggling down the stretch" more then likely not commneting on the fact that we came in pitt on a monday night nationally televised game and got a W..... of course this would only be the senario of the Ravens win (which i fully expect will happen)
It may sound like im complaining about the lack of (positive) coverage the ravens get but im really not.... like i said in a previous post the only way i could see the ravens getting more coverage is if they would win the superbowl and start out at least 4-0 the next season... otherwise i wouldnt hold your breath.... in all honesty it would be nice to hear a little more about the ravens on the TV, but i LOVE flying under the radar!

GO Ravens!

I will be the first to state that the steelers are a good team year in and year out but our defense has been a constant almost since the start of the franchise. I am not sure what it is about baltimore and why we are the joke of all sports critiques. OK, the Orioles have had a bad spell for 13 years now and the ravens have never had a highlight reel offense but at some point they have to admit that we live and breathe to stop opponents from scoring, i will go a step further stop opponents from gaining yards period. If chicago can be known for their Defense still after all these years then why cant we. Sorry i keep dragging this on but i hate for us fans to get the short end of the stick when almost every game a Raven has a great game breaking play when you can actually see the opponents soul just die in defeat.

I think Rich Eisen is a (what diabetics do to their fingers). I used to like the guy, but everytime he says Joe's name he tries to use a hardcore Dundalk accent pronouncing Flacco. Alright Rich, it wasn't funny the first time. It pisses me off more each time I hear it.

On a lighter note, both Brian Baldinger and Sterling Sharpe picked the Ravens to win on "AFC Playbook" on the NFLN. I was really surprised. They basically said that Monday is not gonna be a good night for the Steelers with the Ravens D coming into town. I had to rewind it and watch it again lol. Ravens vs Steelers was also the Madden Matchup of the Week. Ravens won 20-10!!!

Honestly, why the hell do you care? These companies have absolutely no obligation to be objective in any kind of way; they are buisnnesses and want to make the most money humanly possible. The Ravens are a historically boring team with a, compartively, small fan base. This team has played two teams who have been virtually eliminated by week three, there is a reason that people aren't slobbering all over the Ravens. Additionally, Baltimore got off to a 4-2 start last year before completely tanking it, so you could feasibly come to the conclusion that they will do the same thing this year. Do you honestly think that the "media" has some kind of vendetta against the city of Baltimore?

And just as a side note, you cannot possibly define one singular view of the media; the Anita Marks show qualifies as a part of the media too, and I wouldn't say they neglect the Ravens.

Maybe the put the teams that are going to be playing against eachother on Madden. Then wait till the score comes out to help em about what to say.

Was it Jaime Dukes? The big chunky guy? He hates every team in the NFL except the media darlings. He's a negative nancy about any team that's not considered a offensive powerhouse. If it was Dukes, he is the same guy that said a high powered offense is more important then a good defense. Thats the arguement he used for why Denver was a better team than the Titans. Then of course Denver gets crushed by a team that was on a 12 game losing streak, dating back to last season, because of their sorry defense. My point is, I wouldnt let that make me angry because he's usually wrong.
At least Rod picked us to win the game. Jamie Dukes is a clown. I wouldn't worry too much about anything he says.
I figured it was him and I agree. See above for details.

Anita Marks is also local. There is a big difference between what is said about the Ravens on the local level and what is said about them on the national level.

No one knows me, either, so ignore if you will, but I'll just chat away, anyway... :P

I feel a Catch-22 when it comes to the media and the Ravens. I really want to hear them saying good things, but when I do hear them all saying great things, that's when we lose, so it scares me. It's a fine line I walk...

[and I know there really isn't any correlation between what I hear and the Ravens' performance, but... superstition has an ugly hold on me...]
