Anquan Boldin Stepping Up

42 posts in this topic

Gotta give props to Q today. I was ragging on him a bit the last few weeks on his lack of production (granted, not totally his fault). Once Mase left, I was hoping Q would step up as Joe's go to/clutch receiver. They seemed to be on the same page today, hopefully this is just the beginning!

i think he will become what mason was for joe. even that deep catch was very nice. didn´t know he is that fast. lol
talking about speed: torrey is just sick! he has a second gear that only a few other guys in this league have. having both of them playing like today will help us a lot winning those games...

Yeah, I agree. He's had some crucial pass drops this year. He's kind of looked sloppy at times. Yet, today he really shined. I was glad to see that. He was looking like our number 1 guy, finally.

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked too see how the Boldin and Smith duo pans out this season. Joe just needs to brush up on the accuracy for some of those crossing routes and long passes!

The only thing now is to capitalize on those big plays in the red zone. We CAN'T keep kicking feild goals and expect wins like today...sorry, we just can't.

Q looked great today, the only play I wasn't impressed with was the short pass in the flat on goal line where Q juked like 5 times and went nowhere haha.

He played great, and so did T. Smith (woulda loved for him to have 100 yrds). I can't wait till Lees back to, i think we'll look a little bit different with him out there

Yea man, Q looked great. if we could finish in the redzone this game would have been over a long, long time ago. It'd be awesome for Q to keep this kinda stuff up.

Q has always been Q. Hes made a few bad plays, but he hasnt been utilized right for the last 2 years. Today they used him well. I really am liking the Q/Torey/Dickson trio.

Q showed his true class today. I think he will become much more valuable to Joe and the Ravens than Mason ever was.

I think it's because of the emergence of torrey smith is what's opening it up for Boldin.
Yep. No more keying in on Q. More threats to account for.

Yes! I love that trio too.

Plus throw in Rice, Pitta, and the return of Evans, we could hopefully see more production via the air. :D

I personally would like to see us use Q underneath a lot more, similar to the way New England uses Wes Welker. Although his deep catch today was pretty, I'ld like to see Smith and Evans (once healthy) attacking deep while Boldin in attacks 5-15 yard deep area (drag routes, quick ins/outs, quick slants, bubble screens, ect). This could give Flacco at least 5 easy completions and help him and Boldin get in a rythem early. Then we could then slip Rice out opposite of Boldin he starts getting keyed by the defense. This could help Flacco's 50% completion rate and help stabilize the offense when seeking a big play.

I 100% agree. Boldin would be fantastic working out of the slot, with Lee and Torrey out wide. Hopefully we'll see that happen when Lee returns from the injury.

Good to see Boldin having a better year. Helps he has people who open up the field for him and people that compliment him as a player. Now I want to get Evans back so we can put Boldin in the slot and Smith and Evans on the outside. Ravens are getting me excited

If we keep getting 4 or 5 field goals a game plus a few TDs...looks like wins. Although 49 does sound a lot better for a score than 29. But Billy has to feel useful too.

And Boldin looked real good in that game.

I agree but we still need to be sharp in the red zone. Obviously we won't be impeccable; sometimes teams will stop us. We must score at least half the time we go the red zone (preferably more). We scored less than half of the time we were in the red zone yesterday, right? Am I correct on that one? Not sure. However, I'd like us to put up 7 more often than 3. It certainly helps our chances. Besides, opposing defenses then begin to reinforce their own red zone defense against us thereby keeping games close, like yesterdays (until our forth quarter runaway, of course...but we can't always expect that. I mean, I'm glad we're playing aggressively but let's not leave up to that each time either).

I think Torrey has allowed Boldin to get open more i just cant wait for Dickson, Evans, Boldin, and Torrey all on the field at once someone has to be open unless they rush 1 guy haha.

once evans can get healthy we can do a 5 wr set which gives flacco more time to throw
How would 5 wide give Flacco more time?

Thats flawed logic, as we'll have no protection in for Flacco.

Boldin had a great game. When you think that Joe was almost constantly being pressured, it makes it all the more impressive that Q and Torrey put up impressive numbers. When we get Grubbs and Evans back then our offense becomes that much more potent.
