Joe Flacco Carried This Offense

142 posts in this topic

On the Offensive side of the ball,
The biggest cudo's have to go to Cam for
calling a balanced game,
changing strategy during the game when the play calling wasn't working,
calling the right play at the right time
and adding some new plays.
This is the first game that I can say "Cam did a good job, the whole game" not just a few plays.

Joe had a good day yesterday
His deep balls looked fantastic, accurate, on time
even though he was under pressure the whole game
and he made good decisions
(I dont cry about stats because I don't care about fantasy football)
but
The whole team deserves credit for this win on offense and defense

16 yards in the first half....oline struggled in the first half, Rice struggled in the first half and Flacco struggled in the first half. All 3 facets go hand in hand!
well said!

only 16 yards an entire half? and after a bye week? i could say more but i will leave it at that.

Flacco completed 61% of his throws including some downfield throws. Our offense is explosive because of how agressive Flacco is, and the opportunities he takes downfield. He makes the wr's around him better, and he is making strides and improving every game. He has even started to extend plays and help his offensive line. Mistakes are part of the game. Brady threw 2 interceptions this week. It is not realistic to think that Flacco will go an entire game without any mistakes. But how he bounces back from the mistakes is key. And he continued to make good throws and move the chains.

Now the bad, Flacco was too passive in the red zone, but Flacco understands the defense that he has behind him. He doesn't need to force throws when he has a great defense behind him. So as long as he gets points out of those red zone possessions then it is a success. We will beat a lot of teams if we put up 30 points a game.

If Eli Manning is considered a franchise QB in the NFL...why is flacco being discussed as not being a long term solution at QB?
Because his brother. Idk man just too baffling to think of how much people overlook flacco but oh well roll on

Let's not forget this is the same Texans team that destroyed Ben Roethlisburger and made him look pathetic. Joe did better under similar pressure and without quite the wideouts and chemistry Ben has.

Ben's line: 16/30 206 yds, 0TDs, 1 INT

Flacco was awesome for the most part. Very impressive how he stayed in the pocket and took his shots. He finally got outside and rolled a bit like on the pass to Boldin I think it was.

He did well against a very tough defense.

I like the way they adjust throughout the game this year. They just seem to be doing a better job of that than last year. And that includes Joe. He toughed it out and delivered.

Love the way the entire team never takes their feet off the gas. THAT's what I have been waiting for!

Maybe beacuse Eli won his team a championship. While the Giants D on 07 was great, Eli won that game for them in the 4th QTR agaisnt the most prolific team of the last 20 years.

Flacco was getting hurried and hit all game... he is one tough football player, and we'd be in trouble if he went down. Kudos to Flacco.

We need Grubbs back in the worst way.

Well said...but you've probably been labeled a Flacco Hater by this point
I don't think anyone could call me a Flacco hater. I believe in him because the organization believes in him. Of course there are times when I have my doubts like against the Jets or early in the Texans game, but there are moments of brilliance too. I think by the end of the season he'll be more consistent. Keep in mind that the offense is still learning to gel, especially with the shortened training camps.

He did a good job in the passing game despite some OL issues. Have to turn more FGs into TDs. He didn't carry the offense but just did his part to help the win. Have to give credit to Ray Rice, Anquan Boldin, and Billy Cundiff for an all around concentrated effort.

For what it's worth, ESPN agrees that Flacco played a very good game. He finished 8th in their new "total QBR" ranking system, and was first in the "Pass EPA" stat with 10.6, whatever that means. I also want to point out that ESPN docked him 2.6 points for the sacks he took, the majority of which I think were cause by very bad pass protection and therefore shouldn't be blamed on him. In any case, according to these metrics Joe was one of the better quarterbacks this week, even though his stat line doesn't show it.

I don't think Joe actually carried them team I think his leadership and poised help open things up. But my game ball has to go to Ray Rice i think Rice had a very courageous effort and will to put the offense on his back and said lets go...

I guess you could say that Flacco carried this offense yesterday, but that's like bragging about being the strongest kid in your high school weight lifting class: ultimately, it doesn't mean much. I like Flacco as the Ravens QB (I still think we need to give him another year, maybe 2, before we really know what he's got), and he definitely played well considering the circumstances, but I ask myself whether the Ravens can beat the other elite teams in the league if Flacco plays like he did yesterday (i.e.; 300 yards and some big plays down the field, but ineffective redzone performance and 2 big turnovers). The obvious thing with Flacco is that he's living and dying this season on the big plays, so when he's not hitting on those deep passes, the offense struggles, and that makes me really uncomfortable about this team right now. Flacco is great at beating man coverage, but he obviously still struggles finding open receivers (underneath) when the safeties play him deep. People like to point out how the Ravens receivers never get open, but I don't agree at all. I think Flacco is just too slow getting the ball out of his hand most of the time. He typically throws the ball well after his receiver makes his break, and combined with his relatively slow wind-up, I think he tends to make his receivers look inept. I think if you watch Brady's game-winning TD pass against the Cowboys yesterday, it's easy to see where Flacco is deficient. Yes, Brady had all day to throw, but Flacco's been in those situations, and 9 times out of 10, Flacco will wind up scrambling out of the pocket and throwing the ball out of bounds. The other 1 out of 10 times, he's going deep.

He was viewed as a franchise before that playoff run. Even when he was average during that regular season so try again

Joe Flacco needs to realize he has legs as good as any in this league... If his running game is failing and passing game is failing.
Then lets run behind the O line and get the 1st down... Become the mobile QB that the team needs him to be. I think that Joe is excellent and some people just questioned if he wanted to be a Raven. We all know now that he is trying hard to get this offense to out perform themselves. When you have help from the O-line especially if Ngata is backing up the O line run behind him and get us those extra 4 downs....

Ravens beat a good team yesterday. I don't care how it looked,I don't care if Joe wasn't perfect, I don't care if the OL was shaky. Come Jan. its just one more win in our efforts to reach our goal.

People are complaining about how Flacco was ineffective in the Redzone but i distinctly remember him being on a roll with the passing game and then we started tor try to run and that's why we had to settle for FG's. I wanted to see them continue to throw the ball down there but we didn't we ran so it is not Flacco that was ineffective in the redzone it was us trying to run with the zone scheme that the Texans defense was used to seeing everyday.

Curious ...The fumble...

Was that Joe or the line?
I think if you go back and look as Joe was moving away from Johnson, Yanda threw his arm out and around Joe, keeping Joe from moving forward, Johnson was already on the ground , when the ball came free, as Joe folded across Yanda's arm

I like Joe as much as any quarterback that has ever played. But I am going to take the devil's advocate route and say that Joe didn't exactly carry the game or the offense. Although I love the earlier comment about how Flacco had to carry some of the Texans defenders as well.

No I am going to say that football is the ultimate team game, and the whole team should get the credit. They found a win to win a game that they were in position to lose. In the end they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Ray Lewis said it well, "that this game (and this life) is a journey with ups and downs."

The wacky thing about football is the ups and downs sometimes are in the same game, let alone the same season!

There is a lot of football left to be played, and I for one am excited to watch it.

Exactly why its bafflibg to see what is called franchise and what is not. Maybe joe should throw 20 ints so analyst will stop giving sanchez and eli more love

Joe made some huge plays last game, stood very strong in the pocket and delivered. I still think he has to see the opportunity to tuck and run at times and take them, such as the fumble forced by Jamison, it looked like he had a lane

Joe did fairly well even with their defense constantly in his face. IF we can get this cat some time in the pocket to go to work on a consistent basis....then our offense (run and passing) will be nasty! i want to see that sooooooo badly without all of these stalls!

I was very proud of Joe. Even with the constant pressure, he completed the majority of his passes, and he made some fantastic passes downfield. I can't wait until he gets Lee back and continues to build chemistry with Torrey, Boldin and Dickson/Pitta. This offense has the potential to be great, and I think the offense will improve going into the second half of the season.

For the majority of this game the Ravens had no run game and the OL was very poor at pass protection. Cam made more questionable play calls and was driving me nuts.

Flacco really had little help and he had to make big plays and stand in a pocket that dissolved quickly, I give him much props, it wasnt pretty but he got it done. When I say he carried the offense I mean he had no help in the run game, their were more stupid penalties on Gurode and Pitta...the OL had a bad day, the only play that Joe really made a mistake on was the INT before the half..that ball sailed high on him and got tipped for a INT

..other than that Joe really made this offense today, I realize at the end of the game the run game got going...thank God, because we needed to run time off the clock

It still amazes me that there were ppl hating on Joe Flacco, like it was his fault he was getting beat up, his fault there was no run game, and his fault the play calling at times was suspect

Thank you Joe for leading this offense!!!
What about the fumble did you forget that. Now i will be the first to Admit he had some nice passes under heavy pressure--- stood in there and delivered, with a fumble and an int and 1- 1 yard rushing touchdown he look like Andy Dalton out there. You do understand that this is why haters hate. You guys must see a totally different game then us. I would say he bounced back a lil in the second half, but to say that he carried the offense??????/ That has always been Ray Rice.
