who expected the O to come out hitting on all cylinders? what? you didn't? especially after a bye week? well i did! all of us should've expected that! besides...Joe Flacco said that the offense was sloppy....not me bruh! my post was not a critcism but an observation and a direct quote from the QB himself. and.....the only ones who keep using that lame "new players not much time to gel" excuse are the fans and media. Joe didn't do that at the post game interview. i respect him more for that.

Nope, sure didn't. And I think most would say a lot of the "sloppiness" was attributable to the O line play, and not the QB/RB/WR..
I hope people realize that Houston came into this game ranked 7th in the league against the pass (and left ranked 11th). So far, we have not played a single team (including St. Louis) not ranked in the top 15 in passing defense, and the bengals and Browns coming up are ranked 3rd and 4th in the league in PD right now. Our passing offense is suffering from chemistry issues, yes, but we are also playing top passing defenses every week, it seems like.
They were actually ranked 6th, allowing just over 200 yards a game. Flacco did well against them. Wade Phillips is a good D-coordinator, he knows how to bring the pressure even without Super Mario.

But honestly, thank goodness for no Mario, who knows how that would've ended for us.

not really...Joe said "WE can play sloppy at times!" that means he included himself in that bruh! but, like i said he used the term sloppy not me. so there is no argument or need for you to feel you have to defend something. again, i just quoted the QB. lol!

glad we got the "W"

Cool, no problems.

But would you really expect Joe to say "my O line sucked today and it was kind of hard to pass the ball with an elbow in my ear and my right arm where my left used to be". No, he graciously said "We can play sloppy at times".

Not trying to defend anything. Just trying to make the point that Joe played lights out under extreme pressure. Wade brought the house and Joe beat it. No sloppiness from the QB. An excellent performance by an excellent player.

I think the offensive line was bad, but mostly the Tackles. The interior of the line seemed to hold up for the most part. Most of the pressure came from the outside. And I used to come to Oher's defense when he played bad, but ya know what, he and McKinnie have been absolutely terrible at times this year, runblocking and passblocking.

I think we need to run the ball more inside. Every game, it seems we run the same outside zone stretch play, that the defense contains, and forces Rice to cut it back. And then, in the late third, we start running some inside zone plays and an iso, and tada! You have a running game. Cam is trying to hard to get Rice outside, where he needs to run it up the gut behind Yanda, Birk, and Gurode. On that first drive, we had success running the ball on the stretch, the inside, and we even ran some counters. Why can't Cam call a more diverse running attack? It's always the same bogus draws and zone stretches.

Not really, RR had 100 yards rushing and Smith/Q caught 50+ yard catches. Not every receiver can do that
16 yards in the first half....oline struggled in the first half, Rice struggled in the first half and Flacco struggled in the first half. All 3 facets go hand in hand!

I know one thing, we ran better using power blocking than the zone blocking and you could see Rice get frustrated with the stretch zone running. Mix in the stretch every now and then but with how big our O-lineman are, power blocking gets us better results.

Well, after doing more studying, I think we can run the zone blocking scheme effectively. Like you said, you have to mix the stretch in every now and then. But those inside runs actually were zone blocking schemes. I just think Cam has to mix up the runs more. Run more inside zones, run some counters, etc.

I was angry with Flacco. He still fumbles the ball way too much, but his puke offensive line did nothing to help him out. What were they hungover from being off for a week? They looked like crap. Gurode looked like he was doped up or something. He was one of the crappiest.

Idk what happened with the OL. They fixed it in the second half though. I guess they just weren't ready for the Texans DL. I had no idea the Texans DL was that quick. I underestimated them, and our oline may have as well.

Wow. I just realized something. Cam made adjustments! I think I might faint lol

Jeez. Now I have to go find that "scared of Cam" thread and defend him.

Thing i like the most from this game is joe flacco and our offense actually went out there and won us the game. Sure the defense forced 3 3 and outs against the texans in the 4th quarter but the offense put up some field goals (while id like touchdowns) and led that touchdown drive late in the 4th to put the game away. Our defense continues their strong play of only giving up 14 points a game so if our offense can continue to progress were going to win a lot of games

Wade Philips certainly had a plan for playing without Mario. Credit to him as a defensive coordinator.

While Joe played well given the circumstances of pass protection and our run game not contributing (how weird, i feel like I had a thread on that last week.... ), I feel it was Billy Cundiff that Carried this offense lol.

True dat, brother!! The iron boot carried us!

The main thing about this offense is that we are utilizing the big play ability and it is opening up the rest of our offense. The chemistry that is developing in our offense is something to get excited about. And Flacco is just going to continue to get better. Every week, I feel he is getting more comfortable in the offense, and he is making the people around him better. Now he still has hiccups, but if he is getting better. That's what is important. No team should peak in October. We are right on track. Keep it up Flacco

It's hilarious to see all the Flacco haters, I'd love to see them even try to take an NFL snap. Joe did an excellent job with what he had to work with today, and that was absolutely NOTHING till damn near the game was almost over. As fast as that pocket was made, it was completely gone even quicker and Joe did avoid some serious pressure a few times while stepping back up. The kid was beaten black and blue today, but that's his fault I suppose huh??!?!? Well all I can say is tune into the Raiders from here on out and see how Boller does, maybe you might want to follow him since Flacco sucks to alot of people around here. Or better yet tune into any game Troy Smith will be starting as well, oh wait where's he playing at now?

Flacco did okay but if anyone carried our offense it was Ray Rice, which isn't atypical. Joe played much better than he did against the Jets though. I think there were some line issues tonight, but I was impressed by his ability to make plays under pressure.

That's pretty much the easiest way to put it.

As the cliche goes, the game is won in the trenches. If the offense is to find success, the offensive line must protect. If the defense is to contain, the defensive line must attack.

Rarely will a team not find success on either side of the ball if the lines hold up their end of the bargain. There may be inconsistent performances by the skill-position players, but most inconsistencies are deterred with great line play.

Absolutely. Just can't wait to see what we can do with Grubbs back in at guard. That O-line looked All-World week one, haha.

If Eli Manning is considered a franchise QB in the NFL...why is flacco being discussed as not being a long term solution at QB?

flacco was good today. i don´t care about the interception but he should have thrown the ball to the wide open pitta for a sure td. cannot believe that he didn´t see him. other than that he made great throws. like he does every game....
Maybe he didnt see an open Pitta because he was running for his life. Hard to look for an open man when you have to keep an eye on an incoming rusher.

some fans do have to realize that we are not a footballteam for great fantasy stats. we don´t score that many points and it isn´t allways pretty. but we do win games. that texans defense is one of the best in the nfl. even without mo williams. that pressure by them was sick. joe didn´t have three seconds to throw the ball. but he got it done. in an impressive way. he isn´t asked to play like rodgers or brady yet. he is asked to manage the game. those deep throws allways show his potential and big play abbility. most of his production is a result of the playcalling. i don´t whant to bash cam here. i think it was an okay called game offensively- just the redzone production was disappointing.

never the less should the crtitics shut up now. joe did put us in a position to win that game. we won and we will win a lot more with him. he will never have a 4500 yards season but as long as we are a successfull team i couldn´t care less.
