Lee Evans Out Vs Texans

Disappointing, seems like he won't play at all this season at this rate.

It is still early in the season so it is best to take as much time needed to become fully healthy and be able to contribute down the line when it really counts. Lee Evans is a veteran player so he will be able to step up once he is healed up and in the mean time it gives your younger players more game time and a chance to gain more NFL experience. He's not a necessity just yet.

Yup, Torrey is really starting to gain form which is very encouraging. He didnt put up great numbers last week, but his speed is for real and he was open on multiple occasions. I would like to think Cam has designed some plays to get Torrey involved this week. Hopefully by midseason we will have Lee back healthy and Torrey as well. Could be a very potent offense once we get it all together.

True.

The way harbaugh puts it though, it just seems like he hasn't made ANY progress since he first injured his ankle. & he's been resting for the most part since the Tenessee game. No worries though, like you said it will give the younger players much needed experience. I think they're fully capable of coming in and stepping into that #2 receiver spot and making an impact. Also David Reed might be coming back this game.

Not good....He was supposed to be their deep threat this year. Maybe he will be back for all the divisional games.

I'm also disappointed but I'd rather him heal up and hopefully be 100% at some point this season. We have been winning without him so far and I'm loving the experience Torrey Smith and other rookies are getting in the meantime.

If he can be ready and back by Pittsburgh in Week 9, I'll be happy.
[/quote]
I agree. After this game we have the Jags and Cards the next two weeks before the Steelers. I think we really need him for that game. We sorta tricked the Steelers week 1 because they didn't realize Evans wasn't 100%. As a result, they put their best corner on him which opened everything else up.

I would rather have him 100% at game 9 and later than 80% now and possibly down at game 9 and later.

Sorry guys...maybe that draft pick we gave up for this guy was a BAD MOVE.... It really sounds like to me he wont be 100 percent until he has some sort of repair...... Surgery, would be my guess.

Even if he never plays another down for the Ravens again I think he contributed significantly to the success of this season as it is. Maybe not worthy of a 4th round pick, I don't know, but he helped us do things to the Steelers that haven't been done to the Steelers in years in week 1, which has contributed significantly to how our team is now viewed and what we're perceived as being capable of, which has lasting effects on the way defenses will cover us down the field, opening up other kinds of routes, as well as giving confidence to the entire organization that will help see us through a lot of big games. Or maybe I'm just trying to look at it from the bright side, I don't know!

Yeah. If he hasn't healed in 10 months, his ankle injury is most likely chronic. And that ain't too promising.............

I think this is the plan at this point, and it's what I was expecting. Yes, dissapointing but once we get past the Texans we have two fairly easy games that we should be able to handle. Evans can hopefully return for Pittsburgh.

This was expected.

Like others said, not a big issue as Torrey can get some experience.

It will all pay off later in the season when we have both guys ready

Check this interview out from before the Rams game....last question asked to Lee

As long as hes available mid/late season I'm happy.

Because if he doesn't come back, I think we are in some serious trouble heading in to the post-season.

Agreed unless Torrey just goes beast mode again. Evans is not only great for his speed but he's a great veteran presence and a proven player. We'll need him in the post-season.

In baseball lore, Wally Pipp asked for the day off and he was replaced by a kid name Lou Gehrig. We all know how that turned out. Evans was consistent over most of his career. Last year, he was injured though. I just hope he gets back before the next Steelers game on Nov. 6th. He seems to be making progress, but a speedster needs his wheels to roll. With the trade deadline approaching, will Ozzie make a move to ensure our playoff hopes?

I am disappointed as well but considering we are 3-1 and right now there is no need to rush him back into the line up. If we are 0-4 or 1-3 then maybe he would play hurt but why risk it with us being successful right now?

Even if Torrey has a good season from here on, I still wouldn't feel comfortable with such a young group of WRs/TEs in the playoffs.

Evans would make a would of difference.

I said before in these forums that the Evans trade sounded too good to be true .

I suspected that ankle problems from last year were more persistent then
The Ravens thought .

The Bills got the better of this deal . Why would they give up a burner
For a 4th rounder ?? it's called damaged goods.

Now we know !

I'd be very surprised if Evans contributes much this year.

Well the Patriots got Randy Moss for a 4th rounder towards the end of his career, and he had a 20 TD season... you just never know.

ok, we need to look else where cause Lee isn't working out at the moment. seriously!

we need to focus more on Torrey Smith, Tandon Doss, David Reed and Laquan Williams. Boldin and the TEs (Dickson/Pitta) can go to work underneath. i hope Lee returns soon but right now...he is not my focus! getting these other young pups further developed and more experience at the WR spot is.
