I have both but I'm still a devout PS3 gamer.

I think you simply get more bang for your buck with the PS3 when comparing features for the price. Also, in terms of games, console exclusives are rare these days. Most major titles release on both systems with the exception of first-party titles like Forza Motorsport, Halo, and Gears of War on the 360; and Gran Turismo, Uncharted, and Killzone on the PS3, etc.

I give the PS3 the edge because of the built-in rechargable battery on controllers, slightly longer controller battery life, Bluetooth support, Blu-Ray (with downloadable firmware updates), and free online multiplayer. The 360, however, has the better user interface and a wider selection of full, retail games available for purchase online if you don't feel like driving to the store to get a physical copy.

It all depends on what you want. If you just care about gaming, you can't go wrong with either one. But if you want your system to be an entertainment hub, the PS3 has the edge. Although the 360 is expected to get live streaming TV from Verizon and Comcast (among others), if you already have cable, there's no point to it.

The cheapest 360 is 4GB and retails for $200, but in order for it to have all of the features of the full-fledged 360 and even come close to the PS3's basic features, you'd have to pay even more in accessories -- and you still don't get Blu Ray.

They are both very similar. I would just go with the one that your best friends have. I have an xbox only because all of my friends had one. Just go with the one that the friends you want to play with most have.

This topic is just going to be a fanboy vs fanboy discussion which will ultimately get you nowhere. If your friends got both consoles then spend a few hours on both then make your own mind up would be my advice!

Having said that, I've owned both consoles and in my opinion the PS3 is easily the better overall console. But you may not see it that way!

I feel, in my honest opinion, that the 360 has a better online experience, where PS3 tends to have a more in depth, fulfilling single player experience. As many have said, they are both great systems, with plenty to offer. Don't get fooled by the built in Blu Ray with the PS3, it's not just an add on. Remember, there's a full fledged SONY Blu Ray player in there!

All in all, up to you and who you think you would have the better time playing with amongst your friends. I like both, but really only use my PS3 for Move and Blu Ray. All of my (competitive and recreational) games are on Xbox because it's online features seem smoother.

Xbox for Cod,halo, and all sports games, GS3 for racing games and all others.

Agreed. That's an easier way to put things.

I have both also, but i barely, if ever, use my PS3. Xbox has a better online experience, and all my friends have one. Even if they didn't though, i think i would still prefer xbox over ps3, even though i had a playstation 1 and then 2 growing up.

After spending time on XBL, I can't say that it really shines that much over PSN. While I like cross-game chat and I like the layout of the XBL Marketplace, I can't say that my experience online has been infinitely better than playing PS3 games on PSN.

I don't really regret buying an XBL Gold subscription since I need it for Netflix and other features, but I can't say that I'm feeling too much more value. The biggest advantage, I suppose, is that the revenue from the Gold subscription allows Microsoft to increase download speeds when downloading large files such as retail games. Sure, your ISP factors into this, but I've found that downloading full games on PSN are a hassle compared to XBL because the speeds are so slow.

That said, if you like having physical copies like I prefer for most games, then that shouldn't be much of a factor.

Who cares? I own an 360 and I used to stand by it. I used to be embarrassed for making fun of games and then wanting to play them. Now, it's whatever. I don't want to get back into gaming, I just use it to kill time.

I will tell you one thing though- The 360 is a joke. It's a lame cash in that should be called out for pretty much everything. You know a company is cheap when you drop your controller and it just snaps open. To make matters worse, I keep my disc in the console and it somehow gets scratched....ok, then....how the hell did that happen? Plus I found out that Madden makes their disc's smaller so if it gets at all scratched, there's no going back. Oh, and the Xbox gets real load whenever I play it. Clever Microsoft, real clever.

Yes i figured this out the other day. I downloaded like 2 games (on ps3) that i played when i was younger, and it took almost 20-25 minutes. And i've been told i have a pretty fast connection.

And yeah i guess i agree it could be the same online experience, my problem i guess is that i only played like 9-10 matches of MW2 on my ps3, and havent really touched it since.

I kind of wish i was more into playing PS3 to be honest, for the simple fact that i wanna try Killzone 3, and Resistance 3. But oh well, lol.

While i do agree that Micro$oft is a bunch of money hungry people, i have never dropped a controller and had it snap open, or my disc get scratched from just being in the console. Not calling you a liar, just saying its never happened to me.

And Madden makes the discs smaller? First, no they don't. Just held it up to my Gears 3 disc, and it was the same size. And second, that has nothing to do with Microsoft. Also, what is "real load" whenever you play your xbox?

Agreed. I believe the 360 has smoother online but it's not that much better than the PSN. The average gamer wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

As for the topic, you'll get a good amount of gaming out of either system. I have both and use both(my PS3 slightly more), and I get the value I want out of both. It really just comes down to exclusives, if Blu-Ray is important to you or not, and which controller do you prefer. As far as exclusives, I believe the PS3 has better exclusives(love the Uncharted, inFAMOUS, and God of War series) but the 360 has me coming back to it for Gears and Halo. Just a matter of preference.

To answer your question, Marylandmike12 might care. When you say real load, I'm assuming you mean loud. My ps3 is like a jet taking off every time I use it for longer than an hour, Xbox, not so much. As Bauer77 was saying, Not a whole lot of what you have described has happened to me. I have THROWN controllers across the room and they still work fine. I have had friends though that have odd instances that usually don't happen, like disc trays sticking inside the system, odd stuff like that.

Yes, Microsoft made a system to be marketable and make money off of people. Why else would they make a competitive system? For the love? For the exposure? This isn't underground music, it's a business. To be honest, both systems need each other right now. Competition breeds excellence.

Personally, I love the XBOX. My XBOX friends and I met over 4 years ago and we have gotten very close. With no crossgame chat that could never happen on the PS3 like it has for me. I'm not going to lie the console itself is of lower quality than the PS3 but here is something to think about. I've had two friend XBOX break on them so they get a PS3. Weeks later they trade their PS3 in and get XBOXs again even though it cost them hundreds of dollars.

That's particularly why I've softened my stance on the Xbox after getting one myself.

While I still favor my PS3 by leaps and bounds, I can appreciate the minor appeal of the Xbox. I just hope that Microsoft doesn't rush their console to launch next time around like they did with the 360. Because of that rush, Sony may end up taking next generation's console war if they can carry their recent momentum from the PS3.

The controllers are "made in China" toys I wouldn't be surprised if they cost 15$ to make.

Uh mine is, it can barely fit I have to angle it so the console can properly read the disc. My Madden disc is smaller than my NBA 2k11 disc and the edges are sharper. I held the Madden disc over my 2k11 disc for proof.

Real loud, that's what I was aiming for there. I also forgot that if I leave the disc inside of the Xbox, there is a good chance that the disc will either get cracked or worse, get scratched. The guys at gamestop told me about it and how so many people return their games after a few weeks because of it. Now I have to tell you, that is some BS. As if the possibility of getting the Red Rings of Death isn't enough, Microsoft found a way to fool people into buying another copy of the same game. This happened to my MW2 disc. There are about three scratch lines for proof as appose to original Xbox games that get a billion scratched and still manage to work like new. These scratches are somewhat clear also.

Yeah, thanks for picking that one up for me.

You have got to be kidding me. To get "maximum fun" on an Xbox you need the following:

Xbox 360- atleast $300
Xbox live- $50 cheapest for yearly membership
one game- $60

Now, if you're going to spend that much for the Xbox experience, you better be getting every dollars worth. People don't understand the value of a dollar. In simpler terms- If you are going to invest that much money on something, then you should be getting more than you bargin for. That's why every new year of car better have something new and better technology or else there's no reason to upgrade at all. I know you're not spending 20k, but even in the hundreds rules should still apply. Then, Microsoft makes their products cheaper every year so you buy more of the same thing. What a waste.

Console Wars are dead- less and less high budget games are being made every year because unless if a company has a big name or pays a place like IGN to give them an 8.5, than the game probably won't be worth the problems of taking atleast a year to make. Plus, there are way too many multi platforms games since no one wants to get a contract like Bungie had where they were upset at Microsoft(to be fair, Bungie loves money and will release games with nothing new). Also, how come downloadable maps are 15$? What a rip! Are you going to try to argue that and say that it has to be that high? Back in Xbox's early days, DLC was created to keep the gamer interested in the game. It was suppose to be a deal, not some cash in where you just unlock maps that were already in the game. My final gripe I have with what you're saying is that people don't ever try something new. A company even bought out the Halo franchise and wants to finish the fight atleast three more games from now which is just sad. Don't forget, new Call of Duty every year, not much different than the one made by the same company two years ago. Just a shorter campaign mode and more multiplayer maps. Microsofts big, new idea? A "Kinect" where you get a cheaper and not at all developed version of a Wii for around the same price.

What a joke.

What a joke.
Developers decide how much DLC costs, and I don't agree with it either. Mostly it's something they didn't have time for before release, and just throw it at you for 15 more buckaroos. Very poor customer satisfaction, on my end regarding that. It is also the same price on PS3, only usually a month later for CoD.

(whispers go ravens...)

I'm no price mathematician, but...

http://www.gamestop.com/preowned

The cost spread between the two should cover that 50 dollar "basic" membership. When I see a new A league title for PS3 that isn't $60, I'll get it for PS3, not Xbox.

Anyway, this is too deep...

GOOOO RAVENS!

Whoa, man. Throwing in your "PC card" in the middle of a console topic is like having Usain Bolt enter the Special Olympics, haha. Let us debate while being not quite elite status.
