Afc Nfc Team By Team Parallels

2 posts in this topic

In 2009 I thought we had a lot of similarities to the Packers. A young QB playing well, a top-rated defense, a wildcard spot. I also realized the NFC North was a lot like the AFC North, and there were parallels between all 8 teams. Then over time I realized you could probably pick an "AFC" version of each NFC team and an "NFC" version of each AFC team. Well I did just that. I don't know everything about every team, but I tried to connect each team to their "version" in the other league - and I even did it by division.

Patriots - Packers (dynamic offense, great QB, defense giving up yards but opportunistic. Great record)
Jets - Bears (disappointing defense, shaky QB play, on and off run game, moderate pressure on QBs)
Bills - Lions (upstart, impressive defense, good QB play, great record)
Dolphins - Vikings (QB in question, playmaking RB, poor defense, poor record)

Ravens - Falcons (4th yr QB, good pass rush, solid pass-catching RB)
Steelers - Saints (great vet QB, wins close games, good record, defense has gaps in secondary)
Browns - Bucs (young team, young QB, potential to win close games, average record)
Bengals - Panthers (impressive 1st year QB, dynamic WR, poor record)

Titans - 49ers (surprisingly great defense and QB play, good RB, would have had Britt-Fitzgerald similarity)
Texans - Cardinals (Young QB playing average, suspect defense, mediocre)
Jaguars - Seahawks (poor QB play, lack of offense, better than expected defense, wins unexpectedly, poor record)
Colts - Rams (lack of running game, defense shaky, underachieving passing game, poor record)

Chargers - Giants (QB performing well despite INTs, good receivers, injuries in secondary, good record)
Raiders - Redskins (Exceeding expectations. Defense getting the team going, good record.)
Broncos - Cowboys (QB controversy, defense going through overhaul, mediocre record.)
Chiefs - Eagles (In disarray, poor QB play despite explosive WR. Defense underperforming, poor record.)

What would your parallels look like?

Patriots - Packers (same)
Jets - Eagles (Both spent a lot of money over the offseason, both very talented, both green (lol), but both are really slipping)
Bills - Lions (same)
Dolphins - Vikings (same)

Ravens - 49ers (One is not an upstart and the other is, but both are led by defense and running game, both Harbaughs, both good records, Thanksgiving night meeting)
Steelers - Giants (both rather inconsistent, both holes in the secondary, but both 3-2 and very much alive)
Browns - Bucs (same)
Bengals - Panthers (same)

Titans - Cowboys (both coming off 6-10 seasons, both about average records right now, both with a chance in weak divisions, but a lot of uncertainty)
Texans - Falcons (both underachieving, both dealing with injuries, both average to good QBs, both have weapons on offense)
Jaguars - Cardinals (both 1-4 after opening day wins, both shaky at QB, both trailing in weak divisions)
Colts - Rams (same)

Chargers - Saints (neither playing that well, but both are still winning at 4-1, both going under the radar, both with very good QBs)\
Raiders - Redsksins (same)
Broncos - Bears (both defensive minded, yet not playing up to par, both with hated QBs (one of them is now benched), both below average records)
Chiefs - Seahawks (both supposedly terrible, yet 2-3 and not worse, both with questionable head coaches, both with weapons on offense, but neither are likely to make the postseason)
