There Are No Standout Teams In The League Right Now

30 posts in this topic

I'm watching the supposedly untouchable Packers get dominated by the Falcons, and it's making it clear that there's no team without some sort of fatal flaw. I can't remember the last time the league was so wide open.

And on that note, does ANYONE in the NFC besides maybe Chicago play defense?

You might be correct that there isn't a clear cut team but I would not rule GB out of this game just yet. I expect Aaron Rodgers to pull it close at the very least, maybe even pull them through. Even if you are right, it's only a good thing for the NFL if it means the league is more competitive.

To be honest there are only a few teams in the entire league that play defense nowadays, such is the extent that this is now an offensive/passing league.

If only our offense could get it together, because nobody else seems to play defense save for a few teams.

A few teams that are, of course, all in the AFC.

Last year there weren't any outstanding teams at this time either. Kansas City was the last unbeaten!

49ers D has been stepping up but they're still behind the AFCN. Bengals, Steelers, and Ravens are #1,2,3 right now in total defense. And Cleveland is 4th in passing yards allowed. Crazy!

Yeah, the AFCN is a tough out for opposing offenses. Part of it makes me proud, but the other part of me finds it really unfair.

By the end of the year Flacco will have probably had the toughest schedule in terms of opposing defenses, so I wouldn't expect him to light it up this year. It is unfair. Playing Cincy, Pitt, Cleveland twice each, Tennessee, NY, Houston, San Diego, all in the top 11 and Jacksonville, who is surprisingly #10 right now. Even the Rams are at #13. If all stays the same between now and week 16, his schedule is unbelievably difficult. That's 9 games against the top 6 passing defenses!

And people wonder why Freeman had the year he had last year...opposing defenses do make a difference.

There aren't any teams without a weakness, but i think the Falcons/Packers and us (if our O gets going) are the most rounded, and the Giants are a pretty good defensive squad if fully healthy and not choking.

How much easier would the Ravens have it if they were in the NFC? It's definitely unfair.

Detroit will be the team to beat to me if they can prove their worth against a good defense in Chicago tomorrow.

I also feel like the Saints are better than the Packers, even though they lost to the Packers and just escaped Carolina. That team just wills themselves to win. I don't think there's a better clutch QB in the league than Brees.

They win the Pro Bowl because defense isn't allowed there.

But yeah the best NFC teams (top 1-2) are just as good if not better than the best AFC teams. But I think there's far more depth in the AFC.

Its not over, the Pack is coming on now. They're probably the most dominant but the Defense isnt great at all.

Lol so the Packers were able to get it together and win. They're still the class of the league. They showed vulnerability, though. I stand by my original statement.

Well they beat Frosty at his house without their starting tackles.
I can't help but laugh at Matty Slush's terrible outing, honestly. And the Packers don't even have a good pass defense like the Jets (2nd worst in the league vs. 2nd best in the league).

So go Packers! Good for them.

I see you jumped to conclusions before a game was even over again.

Packers are clear of the pack. They are the best team in the league. Watching them play (especially on O) leaves me awe. 3rd and long, no problem. Down two scores, no problem. Tackle goes down, no problem.

Only way somebody can beat this team is if you go head to head in a shootout or if Rodgers goes down with an injury.

You can't argue with 5-0...cannot wait for the first meeting with the Lions.
I was hoping both Green Bay & Detroit could remain undefeated going into their game but they don't play until Week 12 and I doubt Detroit could keep winning until then.

I don't see why not.

Chicago @ home - Should Win
San Fran @ home - Should Win
Atlanta @ home - Cold be tough but could win
@ Denver - Should Win
@ Chicago - Should Win
Carolina @ home - Should win

Then its Green Bay. Which they should get obliterated.

I could see the Lions going 10-0. Then finishing the season at 10-5 just because their second half is hard. GB twice, @OAK, SD, @NO.
