Lardarius Webb Position Change In The Future?

33 posts in this topic

Jim Leonard is small for a typical safety, 5' 8" 188 pounds. Web is 5' 10" 182 pounds. Reed is 5' 11" 200 pounds. Web could be a fantastic free safety. To waste his talents by making him a nickle back or second string is crazy. You can't have 2 players start at the same position so the Ravens will have to do something. Web is too good to not have him on the field for 3 downs. Web has great ball and tackling skills and is tough to block. He won't knock anyone out but he'll take them to the ground for sure.

@Ravenoid

Jimmy Leonard is the ex-Raven that Webb reminds me of , though Webb has superior physical skills , I believe. Both have strong fundamentals and that ability to be around when you need them - 'playdar' is what I call it.

I see Webb as a fulltime safety more when Reed is gone , but wouldn't mind if he gets some snaps there this year too , as long as our CB injury situation gets straightened out.

Harbs has said he likes the big , physical CBs , so Williams and Smith are probably the locks when both are healthy. That leaves Webb on the bench too much , as you said.
