Yeah, good thing he got such a big signing bonus... what a crock! It was a perfect form tackle, or so it seemed. How else does one tackle? If he didn't lower his head, he probably knocks into his helmet and gets a penalty!! Oy....

Wow, seriously these rules are messing up the game. That was a clean tackle, I dont know how they expect these football players to position themselves while tackling. This is redonkeylous!!

He put his helmet into Sanchez's back, its the new NFL.

The wussification of the NFL.

This, smh straight wussy style. I only can imagine what players like Mike Singletary, Ronnie Lott, Deacon Jones etc, think of todays game on the defensive side of the ball

Totally worth it.

Yeah, definitely worth it. I feel bad for Haloti, but that play was huge. It makes me sick that's a finable offense though. I think every single Jets fan thought that should have been a penalty, although it looks like perfect form tackling to me...

Yeah, pretty sure these fines are tax deductible anyway...

It's selfish on my part but I would rather the player get fined after the fact than to get a flag during the game for it. But either way...the NFL is only a few years away from being a professional flag football league at this pace. Makes me sick.

Wussy in the Dell is at it again folks!!! Heck, if he was the Commish in the 70's/80's and he was doing this kind of crap, the NFL players would force him onto the middle of the field, hold him down, then let the biggest hitter from each team hit him as hard as they could lol. This offense back then would be laughed at and not paid. Whats the worse he can do?? Fine everyone for not complying, then he'd be out of a job because he lost all of his players to a different football league lol?

Wow, that is BS fine from Goodell; the tackle was clean, lowering his helmet and body grabbing Sanchez. This fine should go to Sanchez's blind side who didn't even slow down the 50mph truck, at least bumping into him to slow down his speed. I think this fine is more like Sanchez's sympathy for get bug-squashed by Haloti.

So... if I'm understanding the rules correctly...

your helmet can no longer make contact with ANYTHING?

this sure seems like more:

A. completely unnecessary
B. completely impossible to be consistent on fining/penalizing.

I mean, from now on... any defender who makes contact with their helmet should be fined according to this ruling on Haloti Ngata. If anyone catches a similar act not fined... they should definitely complain to the commissioner through whatever channels of communication they can

Forgetting the fact that this is a Raven player, the bottom line is I just don't understand the rules anymore. As a fan, I'd like to understand the rules. If I can no longer understand what I'm watching... then I'm eventually not going to watch anymore. Better get this corrected, NFL. I disliked the whole NFL movement into an offensive friendly league.... but at least I understood most of it. Now, I'm just confused as to what's an illegal tackle and what's still allowed, if anything?

Goodell is ruining the game. All these fines and ticky tac calls drive me crazy. It's the nature of the sport, if you can't handle the NFL's physicality your in the wrong sport.

It was certainly worth it. The problem here isn't the hit Ngata made. The problem is the fact that this particular hit is fineable.

It did look at first like Ngata speared him in the back with his helmet, which is maybe a bit questionable.

When you look more closely, watch the direction of Ngata's helmet when it reappears. It's clear that, although his head was lowered, the direction it takes when you can see it once he's driving into Sanchez, would make it impossible for him to have led with his helmet. It's moving parallel with, then away from his body. One could not possibly strike an object with a helmet, then position itself 2 feet to its right, and continue driving in the same direction, while in the same motion. The angle made it look like he led with his helmet when he didn't, it was a solid shoulder hit.

It's a "the Ravens are scaring the crap out of the rest of the league" type fine, just a kneejerk reaction to tame us a bit, and nonsense. I saw it coming, though.

When does Roger Goodell's contract expire as Commish?? I really want to know how much longer we will have to put up with BS fines, penalties and stupid QB protection rules. I'm hoping it's not too long... like after the 2012 Season and we get a new commish for the 2013 season.
