OPOQ: Ray Rice. Obvious choice.

DPOQ: Haloti Ngata. Harder, with Ray, Ed, and Sizzle all having amazing years so far.

OROQ: Torrey Smith. Not a huge selection in this field.

DROQ: Pernell McPhee. Even if Jimmy Smith had been on the field, I don't know if he would've made as big an impact as this guy.

Biggest Surprise: Cary Williams. Coming out of nowhere and earning his starting job.

Biggest Disappointment: Inconsistency of offense. Should be expected with some many different moving parts but, still. Hard to pick a disappointment, honestly.

Comeback Player of the Quarter: Bryant McKinnie. Although he wasn't with us last year, he's proven his doubters wrong. Lardarius Webb is a close second, he's done well in his return to the starting role.

Can't disagree with hit of the year haha

Does anyone here think Ray Rice could win the MVP award if he's able to get past 10+ TDs this year?
If he gets 1000 yards rushing and receiving as he's predicting, he'll be a contender.

I doubt it doesn't go to a QB

OPOQ: Bryant McKinnie

DPOQ: Ngata (he'll probably win the defensive player of the year award)

Rookie of the Quarter: Pernell McPhee

Honorable Mentions: Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Ray Rice, Marshall Yanda, Vonta Leach, Jameel McClain, Jarret Johnson

Aaron Rodgers locked up the MVP award as soon as the season started

I agree with most of what's been said, but my defensive player of the quarter is Terrell Suggs. Ngata has been greater than great, but Suggs looks like DPOY material, with four sacks and two forced fumbles. It's one heck of a tough call though..

Offense-Hard to go against Rice
Defense-I hear a lot of Haloti and Suggs, hard to argue that but I didn't see a mention for ED REED..those three alone beat the steelers and jets for us
Special teams- Koch ofcourse
Un-sung heroes of the first quarter- JJ and Cory Redding..both have been steller

Rookie of the quarter-Mcphee

But even with McGahee gone, you still have Ricky and Vonta on the goal line

Vonta does not run the ball.... He is strictly a blocking FB. I think he has like 2 career carries... Lol

Ricky and Allen could be good goalline backs though.

Offensive Player of the Quarter - Ray Rice:
You could try getting cute, but it is nearly impossible to justify anyone else here.

Defensive Player of the Quarter - Haloti Ngata:
Once again, you could try getting cute but Ngata is probably the best defensive player in the NFL so far in to the season.

Best Single Game Performance - Defense against Pittsburgh or NYJ:
Really take your pick here. Both performances were amazing.

Worst Single Game Performance - Joe Flacco against NYJ:
Just a flat out terrible game. He had a good 1st quarter, but looked absolutely awful for most of the game. This was the kind of performance that costs you a game. Luckily, our D was on a mission.

Best Hit of the Quarter - JJ vs Hines Ward Week 1:
After all those highlights of seeing this guy knock out Reed, this was sweet redemption.

Offensive MVP: Ray Rice
Defensive MVP: Terrell Suggs

I also want to take this opportunity to say that so far, the guys who wanted us to bring in McKinney were right, and I was wrong for being so skeptical of him. He has been fantastic.

Agree with everything you said. As dominant as Ngata has been, Suggs has been playing out of his mind. I actually think the play of Suggs helps Ngata out more than the other way around, although its not like Haloti needs any help. Take for example Ngata's hit on Sanchez and Ed Reed's sack-fumble. Both made possible because of the respect and attention T-sizzle commands.

Yep, Suggs has been insane. Another great example is Webb's pick 6 on Sanchez. Guess which monster was just milliseconds away from that play turning into a sack rather than pressuring Sanchez into throwing the pass before he saw Webb lurking??

I agree with all the above nominees for these awards. But I am going to go on a limb and add an award.

Guy no-one talks about, but playing at a high level: Matt Birk.

I couldn't help but think that here is a guy who was almost doubtful to start the season. But the only thing he has done since week one is anchor the middle of the line. You guys may not ever talk about him, but after watching the Jets without Nick Mangold I wonder how we fare without him. I am sure there isn't much of a drop-off to Andre Gurode either, but then without Grubbs who do we have playing guard? My runner up to guy no-one talks about is Cory Redding.

Haha ya I know. But you don't think we would give him the ball on the 1 yard line with Ngata at FB?

For me, this quarter:
OPOY is Rice easy
DPOY is Suggs with Ngata a close second.
OROY is Torrey Smith
DROY is McPhee
Most Improved on Offense is Pitta
Most Improved on defense Jameel McClain although Cary Williams and Kruger are right behind.

I agree with these awards.

I am going out on a limb here for an honorable mention for biggest surprise of the quarter: With really only one game I could argue with, Cam's play calling. I thought he came out too conservative vs the Titans from the start but other than that game I think he is trying really hard to get over his control issues. He still has to learn how to adjust but I have to give him props for his attempt to change so far this season.

Not a bad idea. Unlikely, but I'd like to see it happen once or twice. That would wreck a defense.

O: McKinney, everything starts with the O-line. His performance and presence has solidified what was a glaring issue before the season started.

D: Ngata, he's shown through 4 games that he's worth every penny of his contract.

Rookie O: Has to be Torrey Smith, not many options here.

Rookie D: McPhee, I think only Oz and front office knew the potential talent of this young man.

Man what's with the love for McKinnie? I don't think his play has been that spectacular to warrant a OPOQ title. Don't get me wrong, he's been good, but I don't think he's been fantastic.

He's definitely been good but inconsistent at times. Aaron Maybin got the better of him a few times in the Jets game. Only a few but, still... Maybin...

It's always bad when your offensive linemen are looking at your QB... And he's been doing that often. Not thats hes done bad though. He definitely has not had a OPOQ performance imo. Yanda has had a much better performance. Speaking of olinemen, is it just me, or is Oher still inconsistent at RT? He still seems shaky at times.
