I think he knew he didnt have much time which led to his recent move of stepping down. Weird that he passes the very day after Apple displays their new iPhone which is leaps and bounds above any other smart phone right now.

He was a true pioneer and practically shaped computer technology as we know it today. May God have mercy on his soul.

It is really cool that he got to witness that release. Hopefully what he taught others will continue to be passed down, because god knows we will need it.

This is so sad. Steve Jobs was an amazing mentor and one of the greatest inventors of his time. He set out to change the world, and he did. Be grateful he was able to live his life.
R.I.P Steve, you'll be missed.

My iPod is one of my most important possessions; I never go anywhere without it...the guy was a modern day Edison. RIP.

With the exception of the iPod, I'm not an Apple guy by any means, but I certainly respect and admire Steve Jobs' contributions to technology.

Looking back at many of his past interviews over the years, he proposed ideas that later came to fruition such as the iPod, the iPhone, and other Apple innovations.

Some would call it a stretch to consider Jobs to be this generation's Thomas Edison. Quite frankly, I think you could put Jobs in Edison's class in any era. Without Jobs' co-founding of Apple, Bill Gates may not have felt the pressure to push innovation with Microsoft. Without Jobs' vision during his second stint with Apple, we might not have become such a mobile-centric society, thereby eliminating many of today's gadgets and conveniences.

Even if you've never used an Apple product, you have to appreciate Steve Jobs' presence in the field of technology, as his aggressive innovations forced other companies to try to raise the bar.

Without Apple as competition, Microsoft may have remained stagnant during the technological boom of the '90s. Without Apple's presence in the mobile world, Google may not have purchased and released Android. Without Apple's restrictive operating system, there may not be open-source culture to counter it, as we know it today.

Thanks for everything, Steve Jobs.

One of my main gripes with Apple is their exorbitant prices... hopefully those will go down one day, but with the way the market is right now, I don't see that happening.

I thought PCs ruled, too, until I got my iPad. Now I rarely boot up the laptop outside of the office. I'm on my iPad now. Thank you Steve Jobs.

Diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2004. He lived with it for seven years before it finally took him.

RIP Steve. Thanks for sharing your genius.
