He reminds me of Torrey Smith. he ain't like anyone else. That's not even a huge compliment, his game just doesn't really resemble anyone's. if I had to pick it be Harvin but still, they're too different. Why does every rookie need a veteran counterpart, so many of these guys are unique and don't play like anyone. It's a pretty simple formula for how they compare players.

Good black mobile qb = mike vick

Bad black mobile qb = tavaris jackson

fast black slot wr = harvin/stallworth

fast white slot wr = wes welker

and so on.. this is why we always hear the same comparisons
Or it could be that the NFL has been around so long, that depending on you physical stature your game is going to mimic those that are in the league.

Dexter McCluster = Randall Cobb
Jonathan Baldwin= poor mans Fitz (same skillset, obviously not same work ethic or demeanor.)
Leonard Hankerson=Braylon Edwards.

All these people have similar build and strengths what separates them are systems, opportunities, and QB play.

If I had to pick someone now I would say Jeremy Maclin.

That's a good comparison too

reggie wayne o.O
wayne is an excellent route runner who has great hands which are probably torrey's two biggest knocks right now
Which I cant understand because honestly I think now that he has settled down and gotten the speed of the game his hands have been pretty good, maybe not on Wayne's level but I would not say they are suspect either.

Hands looked pretty good when he extended them on that catch in the end zone

are we talking about his physical appearence or his play on the field?
physical appearance- he looks kinda like stallworth or the grown up version of that kid from little rascals
Play on field- bernard berrian or peerless price, mike wallace

I think it's Jerry Rice who was known for dropping balls in his rookie year but later in the season he settled down and won NFC rookie of the year. The difference is Torrey settled down earlier than Jerry, so I think he'll win rookie of the year......

Devery Henderson..... A big play speed guy.... May not be a complete WR but he is good at what he does... Just has to be used in the right way

to me theres no one in the leauge like him but if i had to compare him then id say hes like a mix of percy harvin and anquan boldin and jeremy maclin.hes strong with a rb type of body like harvin and q but has the speed of maclin.or he realy could be a bit faster than maclin.

actually was thinking about this wayne would be more for Doss then he would be for smith , I think the closest comparison would be Berrian speed and size and when he does get it he is Gone

You cannot compare Smith from other player. Smith has his own style, ability, power, speed, organize techniques when in the field.

Have any analysis on why he reminds you of the infamous Berrian??
U may not have watched berrian play when he was a Bear and that's why u ask this question... His speed and catches were nice then. Ever since Minnesota gve him big $$$ he hasn't played consistent at all doesn't even seem like same player.....

Right now he reminds me of young speed players like Joey Galloway or Terry Glenn ( early in there careers ) that could create separation with their speed alone.

But I hope he turns into the next Rod Smith former Broncos WR that never got all the respect he deserved for being a deep threat big play WR early on in first few yrs of his career then he turned into a pretty consistent route runner with reliable hands..

Rod Smith career stats
Rec 849, Yds 11,389 Avg13.4 Tds 68

I wouldn't compare him to any players that have played under maybe 4-6 yrs in the league, because their careers paths are still unsettled, one good year and they may go belly up lol

Like a David Boston or Ashley Lelie or Javon Walker to name a few that had one or two good years early on the disappeared

I would say Torrey is a Donte Stallworth-Roddy White combo. He has speed, probably as much as Stallworth and more than White, but he is a bigger WR than Stallworth. That's exciting, because he is 6'1 but he is still quick.

Torrey has a "second gear" that's exceptional , as we saw in that second TD of his three TD highlight reel. This is what Scouts , Inc. said about him prior to the draft :

"Possesses the initial burst and second gear to rip the lid off of defenses. Displays a rare acceleration to make up ground and run underneath deep ball. Will be very hard to overthrow him." ( Apparently , Flacco read that last sentance and decided to take up the challenge , with some success. )

Anyway , Santonio Holmes is one guy I've seen make that kind of late-route breakaway , but I'm sure there are others.
