Mike Preston Says Sip On Purple Drank

The infamous writer Mike Preston who is so critical and hateful all the time, says that the ravens should be excited about how well they have played in a tough 4 game stretch, and that they could be the best team in the AFC right now. Mike Preston gives the ravens credit when credit is due, says the bad things about the ravens when they happen. Which is why when he says something good, it means something.

What are you most excited about?

I'm excited about three things

1. How well we have played through the injuries. Carr, Smith, and Grubbs could have been devastating injuries but we played through them well.

2. Our cornerback play has been exceptional. Webb has really become a very good cornerback and I was definitely wrong about him. Kind of gives me hope about Foxworth, since Webb struggled one year after his ACL surgery but came back well in the second year. I think Foxworth can do the same. Also, Cary Williams has had his moments where he has struggled.

3. The pass rush. Really this should be number one. Everyone can get pressure. Everyone is making plays. And the cornerbacks are only going to get healthier and get better. Scary thought. Glad we didn't get Osi and waste a second round pick....

Defensive play as a whole, of course, but the pass rush (and depth bringing it) is a beautiful thing to see!!

If he continues giving negative comments about the Ravens after 3 big convincing, butt-whooping wins and numerous injuries on the defense, I think he should be fired by now.

Anyway, I still don't like Mike where he displays no belief on his own town the Ravens when coming to evaluating players and staffs. When things win this big in dominating performing, he starts to jump the love bandwagon. The dude just tries to stir up the sensitive topic to elevate the value of his column. Again, he's still on my dislike list.

I know what your saying but most of the time when he is critical, he is right. I would much rather have someone who tells me the bitter truth even to a fault over someone who won't tell me anything (not trying to be hard on Mike Duffy, but thats the name that comes to mind). It's not like he is jumping too far on the bandwagon if you saw the grades he gave Flacco and the offensive line last week. He's still realistic. And realistically, we can all get excited about how the ravens are playing right now.

Only problem with Foxy getting back to normal form is this; he wasn't that good before his injury, so him returning to his pre injury form would still not be too good. I don't understand why people say that he improved at the end of 09.... he was so putrid at the beginnning of the year that, as long as he even knocked a few balls away or even stayed with a reciever, that he would've improved. I could be a Practice Squadder at the start of the year, but injuries happen and I become a 3rd stringer, that would be improvement, but that wouldn't be of any consequence. Meaning, Foxy is not good and never will be a starter people. Webb showed promise in 09 before his injury, that, now that he's healthy and given a chance to start, he's showing that same promise once again.

I think the only minor concern about our team is inconsistency on the part of Flacco. We've played through injuries to some key players and we've beaten two major contenders for the AFC playoff spots and beaten them soundly. The defense is playing some inspiring football and Suggs could easily be Defensive player of the year. We deserve some kind of love from Preston.

I have to go with the defense, especially the front seven and Chuck Pagano. They have been playing like the ravens defenses of old. Itimidating opponents and getting turnovers. It'll be even better when jimmy and ruki come back.

Offense has looked explosive at times but better defenses seem to give us issues.

That's the thing with 'better defenses'...they give everyone issues.

True, but championship caliber teams should be able to overcome them. We only scored one offensive touchdown sunday.

lol this again. I have said it before, but I don't know why people expected Foxy to be good right away in 09. It usually takes a player to adjust to a new scheme. He wasn't better inthe latter part of 09 just because he didn't play well earlier. He did play very well at the end. Three interceptions in three games is pretty darn good. He was playing very good coverage at the end as well.
Btw I am glad I was wrong about Webb, he is really impressing me and looking like he can be a playmaker.

When I look at Foxy, I see someone who really doesn't know how to cover man-to-man in this league. Whenever he lines up, he's at least 10 yards off the reciever, which gives up easy completions. And when you're off 10 yards and you're still getting beat deep, then there's horrid written all over it.

Said it before the Pittsburgh game, but if Preston is buying in, you know you've got something.
[/quote]

I know right? Usually when we think we look good, Preston poopoos on our party. This time he is joining. Preston is coming to the darkside (good side).

Foxy plays decent man to man but plays better in zone. He isn't a physical corner and we knew that when we signed. Its not a bad thing about him, just not his style.

shh dont say that.. Every qb is a god besides flacco.. No one will ever respond when u mention this... Ever..

On topic- so mike preston couldnt talk himself into writing a nice long article how flacco will pull us down and end uo being the reason we fall apart? Hmm interesting

I'm thinking that Preston is excited for the fact that we are going vertical. Sure it didn't work in this game but it is extremely promising in the near future. Its only going to get better as Joe will get better timing with Torrey/Evans.

The defense. We just keep getting better and better each game. Even despite our injuries, we're still the most feared defense in the game right now.

Im officially giving up on talking to Mili about this. I feel like he's not getting that we all feel like he has to be more consistent but that still doesnt mean he's a horrible QB and needs replacing.

I feel like this guy......
