Purple Punishment

Still Think Harbaugh Hiring Was A Mistake?

9 posts in this topic

Honestly I believe we have the right man. Fatasaurous Rex may have had some success the first two seasons but that has deteriorated to completely abysmal performances thus far this season. Teams are just running the ball down the Jets throats. He even wasted a timeout last night to complain to the refs about their ruling after an official review. I think he was screaming so loud, his lapband broke lol. Honestly, Mangini was the genius behind the success that Rex adopted. Add a horrible first round QB selection and tell him hes a totally elite QB, guarantee Super Bowl victories and keep "feeding" on your own nonsense and give a heaping scoop of it to your players as well and watch your hopes crumble in your hands like a piece of old cake. Harbs was the right decision.

Harbaugh's the right man. I know it's the NFL, but I'm glad we have a coach with class. Rex was a good D Coordinator but a bad coach. Takes Baxter out because Sanchez dropped a snap that hit him in the hands? Then he put him back in.

In rexs defense, he said he was letting Baxter collect his thoughts.

If Rex and John had the exact same success I would take John simply over personality. John is so classy, but isn't afraid to fight for his players. John is how a head coach should carry themselves; Rex is still acting like a coordinator or position coach who isn't in the spotlight...

I really like this topic. Rex would have given us that thug reputation again... i would have hated for this team to regain that stigma. John is all about hard work and class. The team had a hard time adjusting at first but i can tell all is working out now. I'm loving the way our franchise looks.

A cool way to look at it statistically is the number of bone-headed penalties made a season. Under Billick we were one of the worst in the league. 4 years later we are one of the least penalized teams (especially when it comes to unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct). Harbs has coached the thug mentality out of this team which I LOVE. He preaches disciplined, impassioned, legal, and controlled football. I'm beyond happy with the organization's decision to hire him over Rex.

I'm also glad Jason Garret blew us off...

Jason Garret lol... i was a little disappointed when we got rid of Brian B. but i'd be livid if we would have signed Garret. I'm almost certain we'd be drafting Andrew Luck next year lol. And we have to give John props for sticking with Flacco after Troy Smith got healthy (because it was supposed to be his spot but he got hurt in the pre season i believe)

Harbaugh represents the city of Baltimore better than Rex would. Rex's loudmouth personality fits what New York needs, and Harbaugh's blue-collar approach is perfect for Baltimore. Plus, having Rex would potentially divide our locker room, as defensive players would certainly get preference

Troy got seriously ill right before training camp and lost a ton of weight. It was so long ago, but I also think Boller was injured. Harbs' only viable option was Joe in 2008. Glad that worked out for the best lol

I was always a Troy fan. I actually have his jersey. It sucked he never had a real shot to get the starting gig, but I'm beyond happy we were able to find our franchise guy.
