Ravens Depth

8 posts in this topic

I havent really seen many people talking about this, but I was extremely impressed with our team's ability to play at a high level even while missing a lot of key pieces.

We had 7 inactive players who are either starters or significant contributors, and still managed to manhandle the Jets. We had some warts on Offense, but the young WRs have stepped up and Gurode has been great. A lot of credit needs to go to Ozzie for assembling a team with quality depth across the board.

The only part of the team that hasn't seen injuries is the front 7, where backups already play a large role.

I think we all need to make note of Art Jones, Jameel Mcclain, and Brendon Ayanbadejo for their great, consistent plays yesterday.

Yeah, I am on the record having Art Jones as my breakout Defensive player, but he hasnt seen as much time because of how well McPhee has been playing. McClain really stepped up with Ellerbe out and Ayanbadejo has been great as well. He just seems to get to the QB.

B. A. has really shown his worth as a LB and not just as a special teams ace, in my opinion. Just wanted to to get that out there.

We have depth across the board and I can't wait to get a healthy team back in two weeks. Everyone can continue to overlook it, if that's what they're doing. Then they won't know what hit them, literally, because they don't know all of our play-makers' names.

With as many injuries as we have in out secondary, the Jets still only passed 119 yards. I was worried going into the game, and it looks like i was wrong. Gorrer stepped up and made a few good plays, and Webb had a pick 6. Didn't see Brown much, and Williams allowed a few catches to Holmes, but nothing big. Reed was Reed. Overall, i love our depth at the CB position when we get Carr and Smith back.

I think Collingsworth commenting on the Ravens depth during the game last night. Basically said there's no drop-off when the starters come out of the game.

And thats the biggest part about the ravens team this year and last year. You can make the case for whatever player stepping up or pagano being the new defensive coordinator but this depth is unbelievable. A team can gameplan on how to possibly attack certain starters to tire them out and get the backups in. Yet when the backups are already in the rotation and play at nearly the same level its almost impossible to gameplan. When our front 7 is playing at the level its at, and we can rotate everyone and keep that level the secondary gets help. Now When it seems any cornerback (now with foxworth on the IR) can come in and play at an at least above average level thats outstanding.
