Flacco a.k.a. Jekyll and Hyde?

114 posts in this topic

I'm not going to bash Joe. He went up against a good defensive line(their backfield's a joke). If our O-Line could have given him more time, he would have owned them. But they had a good D-Line. Fortunately, ours was better. We go up against another good D-Line against Houston, so lets enjoy the Win, rest up and get ready for Week 6 to host the Texans in our house this time.

I may be being hard on Flacco but I want Superbowl winners here in Baltimore our defensive guys deserve it they are all beasts!!! and I know we will never win a Superbowl with Flacco so why put it off? Flacco is an inconsistent guy who wont even fight hard enough to try and tackle someone who intercepted him and ran right through him for a touchdown last night-that made me gag!
If we can win one with Dilfer, we can win one with Joe. We need to run the ball more effectively though.

Truth be said right there dude-it is a team sport but everything starts and ends with the QB and in my opinion Flacco is a mix between John Unitas and Gomer Pyle

Do you think his play has something to do with his contract situation? if so he may not even want to be here...
I would hate to start over next year with Cam having to draft another QB with help Of Ozzie Newsome GM and rebuild the offense all over again. We won't even have the Hue Jackson type of character helping us rebuild an Andrew Luck.type of guy. There are very few defenses in NFL that will flat out play hard enough to win you game. The defense scored 18 points unanswered by the offense...

Flacco is not a tackler but his effort wasn't in question. He made the effort, he dove at the guy at the right time and just came up short. I can think of elite QBs (Brady, Manning) who wouldn't even of attempted that. And saying we will never win a Superbowl with Flacco is just a stupid assertion to make. He played against arguably the best secondary in the league with only 2 receiving targets from last year. Had to deal with dropped passes constantly and pressure. He could have played better certainly, but unless we completely tank a season and end up with the #1 pick in the draft we will not find a better QB. And as far as consistency, when was Flacco ever in a consistent situation? He has had a different receiving corps in each of his years here. And as far as Flacco haters go, even if he started playing like Aaron Rodgers I doubt they would embrace him. They either crucify him for bad performances or disappear when he has great games. Your mind is clearly already made up: Joe Flacco is not the guy and he will never be.

It's not like I made up my mind overnight. Flacco has been playing like this now into his 4th year. You can point the fingers anywhere else you want but yesterdays performance made me sick. We were laughed at by the announcers and Flaccos continuing on and off attitude is quite enough already and it reflects in our inability to get to the big show . Bring in David Garrard and let Taylor play till Garard is ready. It seems like an odd idea but with the bye week it's time to do something or else prepare ourselves for another good week bad week and maybe the playoffs and maybe not. At least with Garard and Taylor we know we wont get guys who will fold up like patio furniture under pressure!

Right now, he's arguably a better bet than anyone in the AFC North too.
I dont think that is even arguable, if we are just going by this year.

Who in his right mind wouldnt rather have Brady than Flacco?
Who in their right mind thinks you could get Brady? Besides, today you may be right but for the future I will take Flacco. Remember Flacco is only in his 4th year. For you young guys that don't know Peyton Manning had a hard time until his ninth year. I think he is a step above Brady in my opinion. Brady may do a Favre in the next ten seasons, or not, or he could end up like Kerry Collins. Who knows? With Facco he is a work in progress. imagine him in his ninth season.

now i see why you and Nurple were coming at me strongly in the other thread. i didn't see this until now and noticed that this cat tried to include me in on his "revolution" by calling my name. i am good Nurp!!! i was wondering why you and 1/28/01 were coming at me the way you were in the other thread. it was because of a misunderstanding in this one. i agreed with this cat over Flacco gameplay (Sunday night) but not this revolution junk he spoke of about our not getting to the SB with Flacco as our leader. don't worry guys...i haven't crossed over to the dark side. Totally missed my point dude. Brady is the best quarterback in the league, especially with Manning out right now. He'd beaten the Bills like 20 times in a row or some ridiculous number like that. And they made him look bad. What was supposed to be a gimme for the Patriots turned into a loss, and a lot of it was Brady's fault. Does that mean he's a bad quarterback? No, it means he had an off night. Joe had an off night, but still managed to not make too many critical mistakes, is my point. Brady's mistakes cost his team the game, but I don't hear anyone calling for his head. Now obviously Flacco is not Brady, and may never get to Brady's level, but he's earned the right to have off games and not have every fan on this board questioning his right to be the Baltimore Ravens starting qb, especially since all I ever hear is "Is Flacco the quarterback to lead us, should we get someone else" blah blah blah, and nobody comes out and gives me someone who can replace Flacco. We won, we beat what was supposed to be a contender, and now we move on. Flacco will be better. But the one thing I can't stand is "fans" who only show up on this board to bash one or more players when they play poorly, especially when we won. And in case people forgot, Rex Ryan managed to make both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning look pretty average last year, Brady twice. Brady had 4 ints all last season, and the two teams he coughed the ball up to were: the Ravens and the Jets.
Ok i totally missed your point. But i still dont think that a comparison with Brady and Flacco is viable. Brady is a certified Hall of fam'er and flacco still needs to prove himself in this league. Dont get me wrong. I like having him here since he is by far the best qb we have had in Baltimore but he still needs to prove himself in the big games.
