our offense isn't built to score on the jets, it's built to score on teams with bad defenses. These games will happen when you're in transition with new players.

Disappointed in Dickson, want to see another big game out of him.

Good win guys. Good luck the rest of the way and crush the Pats.

Kudos to you for showing up in this and other threads.

Everyone knows the Defense had a great day, but
The Offense has struggled all year.

The Titans Game, after the 2nd Quarter, no TD's
The Rams Game, after the 1st Quarter, no td's
The Jets Game, after the 1st Quarter. no TD's

And I believe the OC is to blame. Especially if you look at the game plan for these games.

Jets, Pass in the 1st Half, Run in the second half
Rams, Pass the whole game

There doesn't seem to be a strategy or a game plan.

The biggest problem is that they are not getting into the endzone.
It doesn't matter if Flacco doesn't throw for 300 yards or Rice doesn't run for 100 yards. But whatever the play concept is, the Offense is not getting into the endzone.

I love to watch the defense play, but what will happen when the Ravens have to face a good QB like with the Titans. The playoff run won't go too far.

This is the same problem the Ravens had last year with their offense.
Great players, but bad play calling, strategy, and game preparation.

Cam has to go if he doesn't improve the situation.

While the O performance is a concern, there is no reason to hit the panic button. Last night was an ugly win, but a pretty comfortable win against a talented and highly motivated squad. The D played like champions and picked up the slack for a struggling O. The jets were not at the Bank to roll over and lay down and played very well on D after the first quarter. Could Joe and Co. have adjusted better? Of course! But the relevant and most important fact is that the D played lights out and picked up the slack and got the win.

For anyone to expect the Ravens' O to be a well oiled machine at this point is delusional. There are so many new pieces that make up this squad it would be impossible for them to be all that. We have 12 games to get it together before the second season begins. God willing, we stay healthy and hit stride in January. I for one, am going to enjoy watching the progress and hope we can continue to move toward becoming a complete and formidable NFL powerhouse.

I never mentioned flacco being a problem in any of my rants.
but
There is a problem.

The Titans Game, after the 2nd Quarter, no TD's
The Rams Game, after the 1st Quarter, no td's
The Jets Game, after the 1st Quarter. no TD's

The statement that the team will get better throughout the year is a misnomer.
Following that logic, All teams will improve throughout the year so realatively speaking the Ravens won't be any better off
and
This is the same logic that pervaded the mindless blogging last year and it did not pan out last year.

if anyone remembers last year in the playoffs, the Ravens were up by 21 points in the 1st half and didn't score in the second half (sounds alot like this year) and the Steelers beat the Ravens.

Not all teams have a revamped O line, new starting tight end, new receiving corps, new fullback, etc.. This statement is ridiculous and not based in fact.

And this year is not last year. We are a completely different(more diverse and dangerous)Team on O.

Did anyone see Bart Scott punching Michael Oher on the ground during/after a play in the second half? He wasn't flagged (he should have been) but it lead to a scuffle. Still glad we got rid of him.

This is not last year this year is 2011
but
It is the same problem the Ravens ended the year with.

No Touchdowns in the second half.

This has been the same the last 3 games.

So if the offense is more dangerous than last year, they are not showing it.

And that is my point.

and everything I said is factual and true.

All teams will improve as the year goes along.
The Ravens haven't scored a TD in the 2nd half this year except against Steelers.
and the Steelers beat the Ravens in the playoffs after the Ravens led by 21 points in the 1st half.

Truth - is not for the blind

That's cool. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is that we have assembled an excellent group on offense that has addressed a lot of our shortcomings from last year. And I also think that they will gel as a unit as the season progresses. That combined with continued success on D provides for a pretty good outlook for post season play.

Truth(???)may not be for the blind, but pessimism breeds failure. Thank God the Ravens organization is optimistic about the future.

Yes, that was 2010. The Steelers didn't beat the Ravens after the Ravens lead by 14 points... in 2011.

LOL c'mon now. Are you unearthing the legend of the Illuminati or something?

In any case, I don't know how people can nitpick after going a convincing 3-1 in the first quarter of the season. Successfully exorcising the demon of the Steelers and (to a much lesser extent) Rex Ryan returning to Baltimore, breaking out the all-black uni's, showing our depth, etc, etc, etc. And now they have two whole weeks to get healthy and correct the mistakes that they do have.

Yeah, he(along with Mase)was pretty frustrated that his squad couldn't succeed against his former team.

I also remember him getting planted(I think Vonta?)on a run play, awesome block square in the chest!

Yeah, getting whooped by blockers, whiffing on tackles, talking a big game but then coming up small... all the things I remember about Bart Scott. That Titans playoff game in '08 was dreadful and he'll always be that player to me...

Some of this pessimism just drives me crazy.

The Jets D isn't bad. Hell Aaron Rodgers couldn't score a TD and looked 'flat' against them last year when the Packers won 9-0 (3 FGs).

And the Kruger/Mason thing was hilarious! Mase coming off like he was King Kong or something. While he was a key contributor for the Ravens, he did cry a lot and needlessly called out individuals after poor performance. Sometimes it seemed like it was all about him..........

You are entitled to your opinion,
But
I don't give my opinion,
The information, I post is factual.

The Ravens beat 2 poor quality teams
Steelers and Rams
The Ravens lost to a team with a good QB and offensive line. (Titans)

The Steelers are not the same team from last year. The Colts almost beat them.

The Rams haven't won a game this year.
And the Ravens offense couldn't score on the Rams past the 1st quarter. Flacco threw for a lot of yards, but they never made it into the endzone. Thats a problem.

The Ravens defense won the Jets game, not the offense. Thats a problem

It is not nitpicking when the Ravens Offense cant score past the 1st quarter. That is a problem.

All these things are factual, Thats a problem.

I noticed Bart take more than one swing at guys after plays with no flags to show for it... the refs knew the game would be chippy, so they gave the guys more leeway.

I don't care about those things. It'll be the same until October 16th so what are we going to do about it? I'm sure the coaches and players are more than aware and they have two weeks to correct the issue. Also, injecting your own opinion is giving your opinion...

This game was "poetic justice"

It was between Rex Ryan and the Ravens defense he helped create during his tenure here. All the great players on the D talked about how much they love Rex and credit him for making them better players. This game was there chance to show him as students (players) to defeat their sensei (coaches). Chuck Pagano has brought back that "organized chaos" defense that made the Ravens so fearsome.

It was great to watch the Ravens defense play like they used to when Rex was around. The beast that he created he had to deal with on Sunday night. The end result was a dominating performance where the defense bullied the opposition just like they did in years prior.

The students are now the master.

I must say it really seemed like Pagano had masked his blitzes better than Rex and the Jets. The Jets tried to bring different blitz combo's early on but they were stopped pretty well. Then they found a weakness on the right side of our line in pass blocking and they just kept on loading up the blitz over there.

There really wasn't much fooling us besides the fact that Aaron Maybin is still playing football. Perhaps he got tired of being cut the past few weeks and decided he better show up.

My Thoughts From This Game.

1. let me start by saying we have alot to cheer for and alot to question about the ravens.

2. Torrey Smith will be a problem in years to come. Revis is a great Cb and all what ticks me a bit is that people are scared to try him. We are the raven the O must take on the D personality.

We dont see Ray Lewis shying away from a player or scared of a player and I dont think the O should be scared either. Torrey burned Revis deep but the ball was overthrown.

This tells alot about Torrey, he is Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast, and strong, Revis and Rex were scared of Torrey More Than Torrey was supposed to be scared of Revis.

After that play Rex put Cromartie on Smith cause he knew that Revis could not keep up with Smith's speed cause he grabbed Smith on that route. Then I saw Revis play off Torrey a couple plays later. That tells alot considering this a rookie going against Elite Talent.

3. This Defense is as good as it gets. You cant really name any others defenses that has as many impact players as the ravens.

4. Pernell McPhee, Art Jones, Paul Kruger, and Terrance Cody are all great picks for the future to build on, all are young and has good talent.

5.LarDarius Webb is a guy that people better watch out for in this league many people on this board is always down on him when he shows his youth. he a 3rd year cb coming from a little college on top of that he just came off a serious need injury and is finally looking like the knee is back.

Bart Scott was whiffing on tackles left and right, blowing coverages, and spent most of his day on the ground. Our D was outstanding, except for him. I just grew tired of him.

You astound me. I actually do enjoy (sometimes) having spirited debates with you and I feel you feel the same way with me, yet I still cannot comprehend some of the things you're saying.

We're winning. Our starting QB is struggling, no doubt. The mistakes, in all seriousness, are being held to minimum (due to a stalwart of a defensive showing) and you want to give a first year QB a "shot for a spark"?
Yes, late in the game when we were handing the ball off and chewing clock. Both Flacco's and Sanchez's demeanor, suggested that they wanted to come out. Both careless with the football and can't complete a pass. Terrible showing, but he is still our guy.

My thoughts on the game vs the Jets:

1. Gorrer had some pretty good plays. Nice to know that depth is there at CB.
2. Revis and Cro are still some top notch CBs. (even though they get away with some contact they shouldn't )
3. Smith handled himself pretty well for a rookie when he drew Revis' coverage.
4. Once again a great initial game plan from Cam. He really does excel in that area. And once again, Cam failed to adjust that game plan in any fashion once the Jets figured it out.
5. So, in the game thread, everyone was screaming for us to run the ball. Well, your prayers were answered. What did it get us? 3rd and 9 and a bevy of Jets' pass rushers. Ultimately, a fumble by Flacco while he was running for his life. What else? Oh yeah. A fumble by Ricky Williams. Lesson? Careful what you wish for.
6. Bash Flacco all you like but as you form your opinion, please include the following facts: we were facing a very good pass defense with a rookie WR and 2 inexperienced TEs. Not to mention some other injuries to our line. Chemistry takes time. It isn't going to happen overnight people. What Flacco could trust from these guys against a Rams defense is not the same against a higher tier defense. Targets were not open.
7. The INT made me cringe. It was Rice's fault mostly though. Flacco does trust Rice and he knew the route and Rice just stopped. No one was left except Jets to catch the ball then. Some confusion. It happens.
8. Did I mention Cam cannot adjust?
9. Our D is awesome and will only get better.
and
10. Our O will improve as well. We won. Enjoy it. Jeez.
