My Thoughts - Jets @ Ravens

Who cares if he deserved it or not. You made a joke about my comment of Flacco being a borderline Pro Bowl QB, yet he was invited. 3,600 yards with 21 TDs and 12 INTs is pretty good for a second year QB. I highly doubt you could go out there and do better. But wait, you're some football stud that nobody knows about. Keep dreaming of the Ravens pulling Flacco.

So did Matt Cassell in that system. Quarterback or Coaching?????? hmmmmmmm

Yea, Tom Brady is clearly just a product of that system. Wait, what?

You'd get flattened on the first play, break your leg, fumble the ball causing a touchdown, and still claim you did better than Joe could've as you are being carried off the field.

I doubt that my man. I have played at that level....just sayin

Does anybody know if Tyrod Taylor has any cousins that used to play running back in the NFL? Hahaha.

Which is why I believe Flacco is a little off because he's so used to playing with slow WR's. I believe the accuracy will show up and stay after the bye. All I know is that Torrey could have had another monster performance tonight. I couldn't believe he got past Revis. This dude looks to be pretty good.

ok...i like this point!

but...i am not gonna lie...Flacco really pissed me off tonight with his game play!

Thanks man. That's what I thought after seeing Flacco overthrow Torrey last week in St. Louis. But I was irritated tonight as well. I believe Flacco will get back on track soon, he has to.

Good, sorry not trying to come off like that. It just seems that everyone takes shots, like us average people have no experience with football, because we are on here. Just gets annoying sometimes,

Before we all just start bashing Flacco, realize he played a top passing defense in the NFL. The blitz packages are confusing, and Revis is shutdown, so for Flacco to have an off day isnt too surprising for me.

But what I took from this game is that our defense still has our mojo in primetime, and its about time a team put Sanchez in his place. In my opinion, the most overrated quarterback in the league. Just wish the score was more convincing like 34-3.

It's cool man.. I just get a little frustrated with the people that don't like Flacco. I know he played poorly tonight, but every QB has games like these. It's when it becomes chronic where you can say we have a problem.

Im just jokin dude calm yourself haha. Im not trying to call you a liar especially since anybody on message board claiming to be a former NFL player HAS to be telling the truth. But seriously I don't like calling anyone a liar you could very well be telling the truth. For the record, I am 17 and don't think I'm know around here for being childish like some other posters. But to stay on topic, Joe had a bad game and WILL bounce back.

our offense has got to improve! really! right now...it is horrible!! Flacco has to lead the way!

i was at the game tonight (section 127, row 7, seat 11 right behind the Ravens bench...lol) and i watched him after that pick he threw and when he came to the sidelines when the offense stalled a few times. this cat doesn't study the game film from the previous plays like we see Peyton Manning doing. Flacco just goes and gets gatorade, walks around, talks to a couple of people etc. Nooooo! you need to be studying film to see what went wrong. you need to be in those lineman and WRs faces. lead the offense son! c'mon man!

That's always something that's made me curios concerning Joe. He never studies the game film. I even saw Sanchez on the bench looking at some pictures. Either way though, I've accepted the fact that Flacco will probably never be one of those emotional QB's that will get in your face or pump everyone up. That's just the person he is. Even when Ray retires, he probably won't be that guy to do so. Flacco has a lot to build upon, and he's still young. Plus this game is pretty much the worst he can get, not counting the 4 INT performance last season. I'm confident in him as I know you are.

In the first Quarter Joe and the offense looked good, but the Jets are a good defense and they made adjustments. The interception Joe threw was partly because Ray Rice stopped running the route Joe thought he was running and nobody was home except for a Jets defender. Now on the fumble..Joe just has to hold onto the ball better and know when a play is dead. Another reason for Joe's poor numbers are a coupled drops, and the Jets defense is good, especially their secondary and we have a lot of youth, inexperienced youth out there...the two TEs, and Torrey, etc..

Good thing in this game was our defense stepped up big time, I was worried the secondary could be burned, but because our front seven is so ferocious against poor OLs they handled themselves well and Sanchez was shook for most of the game..

Their only points were the ones we gave them.....well, except for a FG...as of writing this now, we have the ball up 34-17

Not the real good news is our BYE week is next week which means guys will be getting healthy, we should get back Grubbs, Lee Evans, Carr maybe, and Jimmy Smith...

So I expect us to be much smoother on offense and our secondary is going to get better as time goes on.

Did it look pretty on offense? No....but a win is a win. Joe looks good most of the time, and I'm sure he knows he can do better and he will. Sometimes defenses are just good..and both D's tonight were just playing great ball..just so happens ours played much better...

So if anyone is freaking out about Joe or the offense, take a realistic look at the game, the situation we are in with injuries, etc...this win was IMPRESSIVE all things considered...(as of right now it doesnt look like the Jets can come back...if they do you all can hate me forever)
My problem is that we didn't adjust offensively when the Jets adjusted defensively. Joe looked bad in spots but it wasn't all him. FIrst of all, I think we took way too long to really pound the Jets with the run. We needed to do that and I think some is on Cam. Some might be on Joe if he checked out of some called runs but I don't know that. We won and I am happy and impressed. I like that we knew to go at the TEs and Backs early to get yards in the passing game. I like the aggressiveness to go after Revis once and get Torrey on a Safety and go deep. If we hit that deep throw that Joe underthrew, it changes the game some. I also understand that the Jets are a top flight defense that came off a bad outing so they were looking to rebound on us. But I just want the offense to use all those weapons to the fullest extent possible each game out. It's only game 4 so I expect that we will be better later on in the year. We get the bye and get some guys back to take on Houston. We might get Houston without A. Johnson or he may not be 100 %. We have to win that game because the Texans have a good offense and may actually find a way to score some points.

THis year's team can be great. I see it, I feel it but we have to get consistency offensively. I would like to see us with the best record in the AFC and I didn't think we would do that before the season started but now I think we can do it. The Ravens defense is playing great and if a great defense has a consistent offense to go with it, the sky is the limit.

i want Flacco to improve. i really do!

and you're right....he is not emotional as such, but c'mon! you (Flacco) are the leader of the offense and if nothing is happening...as the QB....you need to rally the troops offensively and pull your weight instead of letting the defense bail you out over and over and over and over again! and this performance or the lack thereof tonight by Flacco was on primetime for all to see and we wonder why Flacco gets no respect in the media or from other football fans and QB polls etc. really? ok!

Playcalling. Period. We run on 1st/2nd downs, and throw on 3rd. I was at the game sunday night...and was highly dissapointed in the predictability of our offense.Once we get a first quarter lead, we shut everything risky down. We stop taking "shots" even if they are 10-15 yard shots, not 20+ yard shots.

You neva bench your star QB, especially under those circumstances with us having the lead..... you trying to shoot down his confidence or what? Flacco played bad today but you play through bad games just like you play through good games, that brings out character in a player that possibly can pay off in a positive way on down the road. Cam should have been mixing in the run more at the beginning like someone stated, you neva go one dimensional against a D like that. Joe will bounce back but there are a few things going into year 4 that he should have corrected that I see he hasn't. Joe will bounce back....

P.S.- You guys right, why doesn't Flacco ever look at the pictures when going to the sideline?

He did a good job considering how much coverage gaps this defense was giving he was looking for open receiver. The O-line gave him enough time but the coverage was to good... We relied on our defense which we should in games like this one. We played against a playoff team and won by 2 Tds and a kick I couldn't ask for to much more.

My thoughts:

First the good. The defense played one of the best games I have seen them play in a while. If our offense would have just taken a knee every play and our S/Ts would not have given up that run, the score still would have been a blow out at 27-3 I believe. Our pass rush made Sanchez look scared to throw and took advantage of a beaten up line. Webb is impressing me more and more every week. He is not great at press coverage and gives some space, but man is he quick to close that space once he reads the throw. Carey is off and on. I think he is almost a lesser version of cromarte. He tries to always play press coverage and takes some risks to rack up the PDs or maybe an INT but gets beat a few times a game usually when it matters on 3rd. I think he needs to learn to be agressive on certain plays and a little more preventative on 3rd and long situations. It is good that we usually help him overtop with a safety. Also, like many have been saying, Gorrer looked surprisingly good. Now I cannot really make any conclusions since it could have been a product of our pass rush and he only played limited time.

Now to the offense. Our first quarter play was great. Exactly the game plan I suspected and thought would work against the best secondary in the NFL. After the first quarter, things started to not click anymore. Now I am not so immature to emotionally jump all over Flacco like so many here. Our OL played pretty well and gave him 2-3+ seconds in the pocket on the majority of downs, but he was still not able to produce. Now people have to remember that he didnt just brain spasm and not throw it just to not throw it...our receivers were not able to get open!! Now, is this the fault of Receivers? Cam? Flacco?...probably a combination of all. Unfortunately our receivers were going against 2 of the best corners in the game in a very good secondary scheme. This leaves out TEs and Rice to produce in lieu of Boldin and Smith. They were able to in the first quarter, but the Jets adjusted to bracket Ray for the rest of the game. This leaves our TEs. This was my major complaint. Dickson had Smith on him for most of the game in man coverage. This is a huge mismatch and Flacco/Cam need to take advantage of this and trust that if you throw it to him he will go up over Smith. I think unfortunately Dickson's drops took the confidence out of that plan. There was one pass where Dickson went deep with Smith and Flacco just kind of threw it away out of bounds. I think it is a must to just throw it up to him and trust him to make a play. You see this all over the league with certain receivers (C. Johnson). Now we do not really have a big receiver like megatron, but we do have big TEs.

Just my observation. Overall...D played great. Little to no complaints. Offense went up against the top secondary in the NFL. OL played good (although we are missing Grubbs) and run game was good when we finally got it going. Receivers were blanketed all day as well as Rice when he came out of the backfield, so I cannot really fault Joe for having trouble with not getting many completions, but when this happens we need to utilize out TEs more. Trust them to make plays on the mismatch.

Because he is doing nothing positive for the team. He is rattled, if a running back fumbles twice and every time he hits the whole he starts tip toeing a coach will yank him. Same holds true at the Qb position you are 0-11 no touchdowns except to the other team, and you fumble the football. Why not pull you and see if our backup can give us a spark.
You astound me. I actually do enjoy (sometimes) having spirited debates with you and I feel you feel the same way with me, yet I still cannot comprehend some of the things you're saying.

We're winning. Our starting QB is struggling, no doubt. The mistakes, in all seriousness, are being held to minimum (due to a stalwart of a defensive showing) and you want to give a first year QB a "shot for a spark"?
