Apparently this kid is a sixth grade running back who scored seven touch downs in one game is being told he is can not play if he scores three touchdowns and his team has a 14 point lead.

Talk about resting your starters...

Yeah i saw this on yahoo i believe the other day. While i understand where the league is coming from (they want other kids to get a chance to play/score too), i think its crazy they have to bench him. He's in 6th grade! let the kid play!

Wow that is pathetic, I would love to meet the people who agree with him being taken out. People who are sad their children are not as good in sports need to take solace in the fact that there are millions of people who played sports that never became pros and are still very successful people. Would they kick him out forgetting too many A's on his report card?

Whatever happend to telling kids to do their best?
We live in a different society now, before everyone told their kids to go out and do their best now it's someone else's fault for why they aren't doing their best. Probably some parent on the opposing team complained about the kid scoring too much and since the defense obviously wasn't good enough something had to be done so he couldn't score again.

I'm so glad I grew up in the 90's and I wasn't being born into our sissy generation.

I understand the sportsmanship angle, but there's a way of blowing out your opponent and being classy about it. Just don't taunt. You can do minor little celebrations and whatnot when you score, but don't make your opponent feel bad about it. Above all else, shake your opponent's hand after the game and show some humility after the final whistle.

No need to prevent a kid from having fun and letting him do his best. Just have him conduct himself like a responsible adult when all is said and done.

Well, if I'm that kid's coach, I'd want to take him out with a big lead to make sure he doesn't get hurt lol

I'll have to agree with you, Franchise, on the regard of being decent and classy in regard to having a higher score than one's opponent.

I always thought that in football a team tries to win by as much as they can. At least that's what I learned from a legend of Aussie Rules - the great Ron Barassi.

Still, I just have to wonder what's next in regard to youth football.

Went the way of everyone getting a trophy--its stupid. I disagree Franny the kid should not have to 'act like an adult' but he needs not to taunt and demonstrate sportsmanship.

Both sides make valid points. True that it isn't is fault and shouldn't be held responsible for being too good. Also true is that him playing at his level takes away from some of the other players. Won't be a problem next year as he can score all he wants. (Unless they make a new rule lol)
