You'll probably see a lot of negative reviews of this game, but I'd take it with a grain of salt. It's almost as if everyone expected BF3 to reinvent themselves and the genre. Maybe it's because it's different for the console, because DICE specifically stated that PC was their top priority.

Graphics have improved thanks to the new Frostbite 2 engine, multiplayer is relatively the same but still fun as always ([b]jus_crAzy86[/b] if you wanna add me on PC version), and there's a new co-op mode that they've added. But I will admit, the campaign (story) mode is kinda bland once you look past the amazing graphics and details. I bought it mainly for the multiplayer.

If you're worried about system requirements, I originally ran it on an old overclocked Core 2 Quad Q6600, 8GB DDR2 1066, and a Radeon HD 4870. Everything still looked pretty good. The game seems to be very forgiving in that aspect.

It will not run on Windows XP. No DirectX 9 support. Vista or higher.

More things to unlock in Battlefield, more team emphasis, huge maps, jets kill you often but are not insurmountable.

I know FPS Campaigns tend to be pretty short but this one seemed to be the shortest I've ever played! Thought it was a bit disappointing too. I didn't get the chance to play the multiplayer because it was a rental without an online code, but I've heard it's great.

From what I've read, the game's main selling focus is the multiplayer aspect, not the single-player campaign. So, in that regard, I'm not expecting anything revolutionary like COD4:Modern Warfare when it first came out.

That said, I'm hesitant to pick it up because of my issues with the FPS genre as of late. I've lost interest in FPS games as a whole because of how MW2 and Black Ops felt like more of the same, and I played a little bit of BF2 but it didn't do anything for me. It also didn't help that, for every good match I had with my friends, there were 5 bad matches where we were up against kids using cheap tricks, taunting on headsets.

I just can't stand losing to kids. Skilled, older players are fine. But not kids with cheap tactics.

The last FPS I really dug was Killzone 3, but even that started to lose its appeal once I took a break and came back outmatched.

I love Battlefield 3, it's what a FPS should be. I hate the COD franchise. I haven't even touched the single player and probably never will. I bought it for the multiplayer only. I have it on PC where it feels natural. The only thing I can really complain about is the chat box and the fact that they took out commanders. The maps are huge and gameplay is fun.

I love this game! My only complaints are how ridiculously OP snipers and the Scar are, and the knifing isn't the best. Tons of times where i'm 2 feet away from someone and knife and nothing happens.

I do like most of those things, but "should" is a scary word. If all things were as they should be, there would be a sea of Battlefield replicas. If there was a set way that things should follow, variety would be nonexistent.

Haha, no worries. I'm a CoD fan, but I know it's weaknesses. I like Battlefield as well. I'll be on those two Military Shooters back and forward as the year progresses. I just hope Dice doesn't fall into the same repetitive cycle the CoD developers have.

BF3 is a great game, im a fan of both cod and bf3 (cod more). BF3 has some server issues and cod lag but im sure that will go away when codmw3 comes out. One really dumb thing on bf3 is when you want to play in a squad with a group of friends, it looks for the most available match with space, not the most available match with space for all of you to be on the same squad and same team. Almost every time i played with my friends im on the opposite team or squad, which is pretty retarted.
I love team deathmatch on bf3, but sometimes it can get very aggregating when you constantly keep getting spawn killed. Im not a fan of rush or anything similar because i hate teammates (teammates are always retarted unless your teammates are your friends, and im very impatient, if i don't get a kill or be killed every 10 secs i get bored). Rush maps are huge! I don't play team stuff on cod either though, just FFA. 121 FFA win streak on MW2 (Im a beast [img]http://content.boards.baltimoreravens.com//public/style_emoticons/default/229031_cheer.gif[/img] )

Ya there are campers in BF3, but usually there defending something. I haven't played death match, because that's not why I got it. So I can't speak on that. I haven't had any server issues (I've been playing on the PC). I played with my friends a couple of times and we ended up on different teams sometimes. It's annoying but you just gotta switch teams at the very beginning. Sometimes its fun just owning them though. BF3 is more strategic and because of that slower pace, so most cod fans will get bored of it because they are use to a faster pace. Black Ops I bought a few months ago, because my friend wanted to play it with me. I played it maybe 4 or 5 times.

Ya, I hope not too. I was worried it was going to be more like Bad Company than Battlefield 2. I wasn't a fan of the Bad Company games.

I think that's the reason why I'm tempted to get BF3, as I hate the arcade-shooter feel of COD and the ridiculous emphasis on K/D ratio. While most will (rightfully) argue that the FPS genre is largely about increasing kills and limiting how often you die, I prefer little wrinkles to the genre like this emphasis on teamwork where you can have fun with the game even if you're horrible at maintaining a good K/D ratio.

For instance, in Killzone 3, I'm a much better Medic than I am an Infiltrator or Sniper, so I choose to play a support role and provide cover fire while occasionally sacrificing myself to keep my team alive. Sometimes, I even go into beast mode and dominate entire matches by healing everyone [i]and[/i] earning the most kills.

I picked up BF3 this past weekend but I regret not getting the PS3 version. The 360 version just hasn't felt right to me, and it's annoying that I had to install a separate texture pack just to play the game in HD.

I'll be trading in my 360 copy and picking up a PS3 copy during Amazon's Black Friday deals.

Is there really a difference between 360 and PS3 versions? I worry you'd have the same problem since DICE made BF3 to be on the PC. I think they put forth very little effort to put it on the consoles.

Part of it is controller preference, but part of it is also a graphical difference. While the console versions will never match up to any PC game, the 360's DVD format forced the developers to separate the two modes to accommodate the HD textures.

Overall, though, the 360 version just doesn't "feel" right. I can't explain it. I've played different types of shooters, and it just doesn't feel comfortable. I've played arcade shooters like COD, sim shooters like the Tom Clancy games, and hybrids like the Killzone series. BF3 just doesn't feel like any of those games and I think that's why I'm not sure if I like it.

Depends on your style of play and what you like.

If you're a casual fan of shooters and you just want to run-and-gun, MW3 is your game. If you're into the tactical element of shooters and you like a measure of realism, BF3 is your game.

There's good things and bad things about both games and you really can't go wrong unless you get into the mindset that both games are identical. Far from it. They both feel different (MW3 is faster, BF3 has a measured pace) and play different (MW3 is more about the individual, BF3 is more about the team).

Assault: F2000 w/ tactical light and foregrip, grenade launcher and medic kit, and explosion specialty. Destroys if you're playing with competent friends

Engineer: Scar-H w/ PKS-7 scope and 3 rd burst (great for AR sniping) foregrip and tactical light, SMAW and repair tool, ammo specialty

the Scar sniping is my little secret, try it out sometime..it's amazing if you get good at it

I don't really mess with support and i've never ever been a fan of sniping

If you're not using the IRNV scope on any weapon you're automatically at a disadvantage. Suppressor is extremely useful especially in hardcore, which I play so you don't show up on the mini map when you fire. Tactical light is pretty useless and gives away your position.

Assault stock is pretty much the F2000 IRNV1x scope, suppressor, smoke grenades, and anti suppression. Use smoke to revive allies, never revive allies without it.

Engineers use Scar because it 3 shots soldiers, opposed to most weapons that 4 shot. Use IRNVx1, Heavy barrel for burst shots with foregrip, or bipod if you know how to use it.

Support you use either, M60E, PKP PECHENEG, or the M240B. The M240B is the fastest gun to kill in the game, but, it is up to how you feel it since all 3 weapons are 3 shot kills. M240B with a bipod and IRNV has the most potential to dominate any game you play. However, PKP with suppressor can make your kills stealthy.

CVOR and SUPR are the best specializations. CVOR decreases the amount of blur on your screen, while SUPR increases against targets. I normally pick CVOR because I play HC and already 2-3 shot most players.
